I am having my founder taking up a stylist career in my dynasty attempt, because townies have gotten old and started changing into ugly clothes that won't match. However I encounter a strange glitch that I've never met before in my other stylist game files, and am praying my luck that lovely forum members here might have an answer to it.

The girl tries to work in the salon on her first day, but once I clicked 'work' or 'perform job' she automatically cancelled her action and stood idle. I thought it might be the problem with Salon (The town is Midnight Hollow without Ambitions buildings so I placed them from the community bin; the salon is EA made, but not the Ambitions one, I think it's from Outdoor Stuff), so I throw her a party, bought the styling station, hoping to level her up from home until she has 'offer makeover' ability and can get spawn jobs at townies' home. However, they still jumped, cancelled all actions once they got near the station.

Since this is 4x4, I (think I am allowed to) let another household member perform the makeover action, and I did - that person also successfully entered the townie into CAS. I then had my stylist quit her career and rejoin from level 1 - now she can use the station immediately. Soon I had her performing makeovers using the station for a few days, increased her to level 3. However, when it is working day the next week, after clicking 'perform job', action cancelled once more. She tried to offer makeover yet this cancelled in the same way. The stylist station once more became unusable (only for her!).

In desperation I made a testing file from that stage (I hope this is allowed, I have a backup file for story purpose anyway, never quit the play file without saving to avoid game issues) and moved the stylist girl to a new town - she is once again able to work. I saved her to bin, opened a new version of Midnight Hollow, placed the same building, had her going to work. Now strangely, neither salon nor spawn jobs has problem at all.

However, I cannot continue from there and must go back to my main file (which I left as it was before testing all these glitches) and therefore I can only think of forum help - please let me know if there is a work around to this glitch. Also if anyone feel confused with my descriptions and bad English, I'll try to explain these again...

P.S. In the testing file I've tried all other Ambitions careers, their work just fine. Stylist problem is the only one.

Try clearing your caches from your EA -> The Sims 3 folder. It sounds like the town your in may have gotten corrupted in the sense of that career. If clearing caches doesn't help then I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.

Hi, I cleared the cache and it still doesn't work, but I am able to do freestyle as long as I don't take up ANY spawn jobs, so I will get on with it I guess. It's not something that will kill off my dynasty.

I'm sorry to hear that, maybe someone will have something up their sleeve, but unfortunately I'm not that person...

When you're clearing your Caches, you'll want to leave 2 specific ones.
Make sure your cleaning them out of your My Documents>EA>The Sims 3 folder and not from your My Computer/CDrive folder.

The caches you can safely delete are as follows:

CASPartCache
CompositorCache
ScriptCache
simCompositorCache

You'll want to leave SocialCache and UserPresetCache alone (I couldn't tell you exactly what they do but I believe they store important information about your recolors/saved styles... but don't quote me on that).

SocialCache is actually fine to delete, but yes, UserPresets isn't. UserPresets also isn't a cache file.

Hi Hopeful_monster, apart from those five caches you can also clear the two files in your worldcache folder, that's if you're using store worlds (but don't do that if you're on a mac!)
I hope your problem can be fixed, unfortunately not for me...but thanks LivvieLove for helping me out!
Btw can I ask which file keeps all the information about my saved style (furniture/outfits) ?
