One Borked Sim
« on: September 27, 2013, 01:25:03 PM »
I'm fairly new to the game, have only been playing a couple of weeks, and have been having a lot of fun with it until a couple of days ago.

I got a new laptop - quad core i7 processor, 1TB HD, 8g RAM, Nvidia GT525M GPU - and I moved my save over from my previous computer. I also installed a bunch of new EPs and couple of stuff packs. The SPs are High End Loft and Outdoor Living and I have all the EPs except for Showtime, University and Island Paradise.

Everything is fine except for one Sim, and whenever I try to play any lot she is on, the game slows down to a painful crawl. I had to separate her from her family so I could play them. I've tried resetting her, I've moved her twice, I've aged her up. I've taken her back into CAS and changed all her clothes. I've deleted all her baby dragons because one of them had caused a freeze previously.

She's still borked. I'm afraid I'm going to have to do away with her, but she's my favorite Sim - master gardener, fisher and nectar maker, plus she's the mother or grandmother of all my other Sims. I really want to fix her and reunite her with her family. Does anyone have any ideas?

I do have a couple of game mods - Awesome Mod and Master Controller, but I'm not overloaded with CC yet and whatever is wrong is only affecting her. I haven't tried Overwatch or other mods yet because I'm not quite sure what they do.

Can this Sim be saved?

EDIT: I should mention that my Sims live in Dragon Valley.

Hi Khalleron! Welcome to the forum!
I'm going to ask a few questions about your game so we can possibly break down to what may be causing these issues.

The big question I need to know is did you remove your mods to update your game and add the expansions/stuff packs?
Are all of your mods completely up to date?

Is this Sim a part of your active household?
Did you backup your saves prior to switching computers?

Some tips and tricks with Master Controller installed: have you tried to do a "hard" reset on her?
The "soft" reset is using cheats: resetSim firstname lastname
The "hard" reset is using Master Controller, by going into NRaas(when clicking on the Sim)>Master Controller>Sim (?)> Reset(?) (something like that, I actually don't have Master Controller installed anymore). You can also click on the lot she's living in and do a hard reset on her lot as well as the whole town (by using the NRaas option on the Town Hall)
Also, you said she was a gardner, so if she's a part of your household, have you removed and deleted ALL of the seeds from her inventory? For some reason seeds can get seriously glitched and caues all kinds of problems (from not being able to search through caves on Dive Lots to other misc. issues).
Try emptying her inventory, putting her through a hard reset, and we'll go from there.

Overwatch and Errortrap are mods by Twallan and NRaas industries. While this is not a mod thread I'll briefly explain them. Overwatch is good for cleaning up backup in your game (excess cars running around, random TVs/Stereos being turned on - things that slowly bog down your game). I mentioned Errortrap because it's good for fixing "Stuck Sims" and cleaning up shadow copies of Sims. I'm not sure if Errortrap would help your issue with your borked Sim but I only brought it up because it is more directly linked to fixing Sims when they have issues.

I did a complete install of the game, the EPs and the SPs before I pulled my saves from the old one. The only things I moved to the new computer were the Saves folder, the Mods folder and  the Downloads folder. I only recently started playing, so yes, I only have two game Mods and they are both up to date. I have tried removing the cache files.

Is this Sim a part of your active household?

She was until I moved her into her own house. The problem persists only for her when I play her alone. The family she was part of no longer has the problem once I moved her.

Did you backup your saves prior to switching computers?

Yes.

I have done the hard reset several times.

You can also click on the lot she's living in and do a hard reset on her lot as well as the whole town (by using the NRaas option on the Town Hall)

I haven't tried resetting her lot. What happens if you reset the entire town? I'm a bit leery of trying that.

At the pace the game runs when I'm playing her, that could take hours, but I'll give it a try. She has an awful lot of fish and produce in her inventory.

Overwatch and Errortrap are mods by Twallan and NRaas industries. While this is not a mod thread I'll briefly explain them. I'll give ErrorTrap a try. I really want to save her if I can. Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the forum Khalleron.

I know how frustrating it is to have a favorite Sim bugged out like your Sim seems to be.  Have you tried playing her on a game that is free of any mods or CC to see if she plays ok?  I would try that as well.

She's fixed! Resetting the lot did it - she is now back in the bosom of her family.

Thank you so much!
