How about just bumping off the old people? They're going to die anyway...

I ran into house cap problems because my seniors died, and I brought them back as ghosts.  I'd send them back to the netherworld, but thier skills are so high, I'm just making the painter make as many masterpieces as possible before I get rid if her to have more kids with the younger generation.

Well, I ended up having to move one of my playable sims out anyway. I married him a little bit too soon and with him already having a kid I couldn't add 2 new people into the home. So I moved him into his wife's house so that he can be with his kid. Luckily it's right across the street from my legacy family but still. I invested a lot of time into him!  :-[

But at least the other married son can have a kid now!

Also, the old people are STILL living!!! One of them's gonna make it past 100, I'm betting on it!

Before the WA and destructive updates, I had Bella and her family all in one house.  Mortimer had passed on at 193 days (long lifespan)and Bella was on her 206th day.  She was going strong with no intentions of passing on and she did not have the athletic trait, nor did she workout.  Unfortunately the updates wiped Bella and her neighborhood from my game so I have no idea of when she would have passed on.  :(

The only ways I know on how to live longer are

Ambrosia
Being A Vegetarian (It says It could on trait discription)
Athletic - 500km Athletic Challenge (Marathon Runner)

You're forgetting a biggie that's had some recent discussion in another thread — having a Death Flower in Inventory basically allows you to cheat death by warding off the Grim Reaper. What seems to be an unknown is....is this a one-shot deal, or can this trick be employed many times?

I thinks it about how long your sim lives till they die without unnatural death.

But yes it does sort of extend your life span.

The Death Flower can be used multiple times.  I've used it at least two or three times on the same Sim.

I don't like that. It just seems way too easy.

also being a mummy extends your lifetime by a huge percent

*wonders how much a vegetarian athletic mummy would live on epic lifetime*

It's really no easier than any other method of extending life.  You have to be a high level gardener to be able to grow a Death Flower, like being a high level gardener for Life Fruit and a high level Fisherman for Death Fish.  Well, and then a level 10 Cook to make Ambrosia.  And if your Sim isn't a Green Thumb, only one Death Flower can be harvested.

Dirt Defiant makes the mood boost for 2 day instead of 8 hrs! It's handy, but then unless you're into athletics, it probably doesn't change much.

Absolutely. Dirt Defiant is a great reward for non-gardeners and non-athletes. It really does slow down the hygiene decay quite a bit. But, once you start doing those activities, forget it. You'll be completely red after a few hours anyway, no matter what the decay.

Whatever happened to EA's previous policy to allow players to design items as they choose?  Maybe I am being to picky about the game, but some of the best aspects (player made items - IMO) of the SIMS have been squelched out of existence.

They thought they would make more money by making us buy furni and spend alot of time on that and let the site, launcher and game fall to pieces because they were too busy on their precious store...  ;D
