Trouble Locating a Townie - Help Needed

Hello:

I'm trying to locate a townie to complete the chess legend LTW. When I "invite over the next ranked chess opponent," I get the message that he's at work and doesn't know when he will get done. I checked the elixer shop, the consignment shop, and the stylist shop in case he was working there. I didn't find him so I did the reset sim cheat and checked all the houses and couldn't find him.

Does anyone know how I might be able to find the townie? Or delete him without finding him?

Edit: I found a way to get the townie on my lot. With the legendary host LTR, I invited the townie to a party and he showed up. Then I could challenge him to a chess match.

He might be homeless, which makes him incredibly difficult to find. Have you tried inviting him over for chess match again?

Several times and I keep getting the same message that he's at work and doesn't know when he'll be done.

I even tried to invite him over the regular way and got the same message. He came over fine the first time I had to play him in a chess match but now he suddenly has a job that he's at all the time.

If he is always at work he is probably a proprietor or works at either consignment or elixir shop. Once you know where he works, build a chess table at that lot and go there. When you are there invite him to play a ranked chess game. That should solve your problem.

I've had this happen with firefighters too!
My Sim was a firefighter, her daughter had the Chess Legend Lifetime Wish so I was constantly hitting brick walls because she would need to play against other firefighters that her mom worked with and they were ALWAYS at work until 2 in the morning then it was "too early to call." By the time they were actually free (like 6 am) they were usually "going to work soon!"

If you're not opposed to using cheats, try using "Resetsim ______" and then call them immediately afterward. If they're still going to work it's probably glitched or they're a festival worker/homeless sim.

If that doesn't work and you're stuck, try going on vacation if you have World Adventures or to University if you have that expansion. They'll spawn new chess opponents for you. You'd probably only need to beat one or two to be sure and then when you come back it will have to select a new person (as you've beaten other ranked chess mates since).

Something else you can do is get the legendary host reward and invite them over for a party.  Because you have legendary host, they have to show up.

I did this with a gal I wanted my sim to date who worked in the consignment shop.  She could never come over because she was always working.  So once he met her, I just forced her to come to his party...lol.
