Don't we already have a thread for tips and hints for Immortal Dynasties?  Even though this is telling what not to do, it's still hints and tips.  Right?

Pam I intended it to be a chance to share stories about how it went wrong.

Good news Metro is allowing the use of pose player in dynasties. Although it is a mod it does not give any advantage to dynasty players. So anyone who has used pose player is still eligible for hall of fame so long as all the other rules have been followed.

Hooray!  Thanks, ratchie, and Metro, and sdhoey!

Don't let others than already-immortals harvest life fruit without keeping an extremely tight eye on them. Take fruits out ASAP when they're harvested.

I was doing so well during my second attempt at a dynasty.  Had everything put together right, things were going so well... except, I got the glitch that happens with the gatherer trait... and my money trees glitched.  So I had like $60,000 left to go for the last level of gardening.  My founder died right as her age bar gave out... couldn't even get a couple extra days to try and finish XD  Moral of the story: keep an eye on self-employment careers and don't leave it till last minute.  You may not get the bit of extra time you need.

I liked reading this thread because it reminded me of the reasons why I am too intimidated to play these challenges. I tend to love the concepts of these dynasty challenges, but mainly just for the sake of story-telling. The many strict rules tend to get me to the point where it's not fun to play the game anymore. Plus, I never add up points and whatnot when I play a legacy challenge either.
That being said, I still love reading others' challenge stories! I think it would be cool to have a "hall of fail" or a "hall of shame" for dynasty challenges that ultimately failed, sort of like the concept of this thread, but with pictures and stories too.

I would have to say watch your Sims like a hawk when they eat Ambrosia. I failed an attempt after the sixth generation was born because my 5th gen somehow got hold of a plate and ate it before her time. That was pretty depressing.
From the moment I fell down that rabbit hole I've been told what I must do and who I must be. I've been shrunk, stretched, scratched and stuffed into a teapot. I've been accused of being Alice, and of not being Alice, but this is my dream. I'll decide where it goes from here.

It'd be full. Mostly from me. :P I'm on attempt number 16 or something. But seriously, it'd introduce a negative stigma, "shaming" the players who failed.

Don't build a mansion. I converted a modern mansion into a small cottage to help with load times, lag, etc, and that expanded (regretfully) back into a mansion. And now my game crashes. :(  But don't build big.

Pick your town carefully. I chose BB because the Coastal family have Life Fruit in their garden, so I could break into their home and be invited in and harvest it, replant that and the resulting produce would be homegrown. I had about 300 Life Fruit within a few weeks.

The reason I failed before anyone even ate ambrosia:
I had a break in, and the burglar stole my founder's young adult museum piece, after her adult birthday, so there was no hope of recreating it. My advice is to not build the museum as a separate building. Do it in a basement instead. Or, even better, just delete the door. That'll teach the little bugger!

And to add  on to what Emily said, if you do do the museum in a separate building with no doors make sure you pay the bills because the repo man can (and will) teleport into it & steal your pieces. Luckily he only took an ice sculpture from me, but he might take other stuff from other people.

:o Ermhh.. I have museums above ground AND they have doors. Hehe, not so smart? I guess I'll go and delete the doors. Or just lock them. I have also learned that only creating a house with 8 chairs at a table is not smart. If there is a plate already there, they can't sit there. Or at least thats what mine did.
