Some Tales of Faerie - Prologue

Not so long ago, In a kingdom not that far away, there was a King and his Queen.

King Tim, and Queen Tamara lived in a big ol' castle at the top of a hill, and loved each other very much.

Despite how well they ruled over their kingdom, it was troubled. Their people were in panicked and a distant kingdom was threatening to invade. They had tried to do everything that they could, but nothing was working. Then one day a green witch came to the castle claiming she could stop the other kingdom from invading.

So the king listened to what the strange woman had to say. She told the king that the invader was a clever man, but he had thought that his kingdom had run out of the precious resources that his kingdom needed to thrive. This was only partly true, and she knew a way to fix it. But alas, since this invader was King Tims problem, she would send away the invaders, but for a hefty price.

The king was outraged. His first born, the heir to his throne, was what the witch had asked for. Yet... If this was the only solution, what other choice did he have? He had already tried asking his advisers, and he did everything they suggested, but to no avail. With his head  held low, he agreed to the witches terms. With that she vanished, but the king could hear her ghastly cackle and some words on the wind.
"See you again in a year."

He did not know the meaning of the message, so with a heavy heart he went to tell his Queen the news.

Some Tales of Faerie - Let it begin

Tim went up to the library where his wife was reading and told her the news.

He Told her of the witches proposal, and how he had no choice but to agree. She did not take it well.

She was furious at him. She was angry that he didn't try to change the barter, and how he had not thrown the witch into the dungeon for making such a proposition. He tried to tell her that it wasn't an easy decision, and that he had saved the life of hundreds, making the deal with the Witch, but she wouldn't have any of it.

---

Months later, their argument somewhat put at the back of their minds, the Queen had some news.

She was with child!
The celebration was short lived, for the deal hung over their heads like lead.
The pregnancy went smoothly for the most part.

Her labour hurt like the dickens, but soon she had a small bundle in her arms.

She named the little prince Erik, after a musician she had once met when she was younger. She cared for him as long as she could, knowing that their time would be short. That night when The King and Queen were sleeping the witch snuck in and took the baby from his cradle.

As soon as she had him in her arms, she ran and took him to the place he would call home for the majority of his life.

A tower.

Hello, wonderful beginning. I rarely see princes being kidnapped =]
I don't really like using fruit to choose my sims genders, and I just roll with what I get.  ::)
But it is nice to see some guys being kidnapped once in a while.

Some Tales of Faerie - A babe in a tower

The first year in the tower were uneventful. When Willow (for that is the witches name) wasn't looking after Erik, she was either sleeping or honing her craft.

That is how the days passed, until the princes first birthday.

The first thing the prince did with his new found mobility was go straight to the xylophone and start playing imaginary songs.

The next few years were full of frantic activity. Willow spent her time teaching him how to walk, speak and to use the chamber pot like any civilized person in the kingdom.

She also tried to give the boy a fear of the outside world. Telling him a number of fearful things, like wolves that ate grandmothers, and children in woods, and little old men who would spin straw into gold, but for a price. All this did however was make him all the more interested in the outside world, he could just barely see from the window over his crib. The years went on, and soon, it was his fifth birthday.

With a burst of sparkles, he was now a very curious child.

But that wasn't the only thing to happen in the tower that day. A strange egg also appeared.

He had no idea what it is, and it didn't want anything to do with him at the time, but that might be subject to change.

This is a intriguing story. Can you make the pictures bigger? They're kind of hard to see. If you upload your screenshots directly to the Gallery, that should resize them for you.

And if you wish to stay with Photobucket, you can resize them to 800 x 600.  That's the preferred size for the Forum.

Some tales of Faerie - Books, Books everywhere

The first thing the young prince did after the sparkles died down was to get a book and find out what exactly the strange egg that appeared in his tower was.

In the book he found about all the different kinds of eggs in the kingdom, he found out that it would eventually become a dragon! He then found a giant tome about the scaly creatures. It explained how they need to be carried and talked to in order for them to hatch. He tried, oh how he tried. First he attempted to pick it up, but that ended in failure, for it was much heavier then he anticipated, so he just rolled it next to his bed for the moment. He then tried to talk to it, but almost every time he tried, it felt like it was purposely ignoring him. So he gave up, for a while and turned his attention to other matters.

He turned to the only mum he remembers and asked, “Hey mom, do you think, maybe, I could go out and explore? I’ll come back and everything!”
She was not impressed,“Now why would you want to go and do that? The outside world is no place for little children like yourself. You could get attacked by monsters, or worse! No, It’s much better for you to stay here, nice and safe.”

“Now go be a good little boy, and stop thinking of such nonsense.” She finished, with a curt little nod.
He of course, didn't stop thinking about it. He just stopped asking.

That night, before he went to sleep he turned to the only (mostly) sentient thing in his tower, besides himself, The Egg, and told it his plans, of how someday he would leave and get to explore the world he could just barely see through his window. And maybe, just maybe, it listened.

That morning, before his surrogate mother came to talk to him, he went to the bookshelf.
“Mum always comes in here through this thing, but how?” He thought while looking at the doorway to freedom. He could hear her coming, so he quickly grabbed one of his books and started reading.

That is how his childhood days went for the most part.

Reading and Cleaning. His mum would cook some meals for him, the few times she would come up, as he was getting older and older, but for the most part he was all alone.

One day he decided to play pretend and was the king of an entire kingdom, but it mostly just involved him putting people in the dungeon, mainly old women who wouldn't let him go off and do kingly things.

His birthday rolled around sooner then later, and he would have to put away such childish things, like playing pretend, but he would be a teenager, and that opened a whole new bucket of worms.

He had a plan, a plan to try to leave the tower with his mum being none the wiser.

Some Tales of Faerie - An Attempt

Some Tales of Faerie - An Attempt

With the sparkles out of the way, and his mother still in the tower, Erik went and did one of the only few things he could still do, he talked to his egg.

It was different from before, and before he knew it, it was hatching.

Out popped a little black dragon, and he named her Christine right there on the spot.

He fed her, and decided to hide her from his mum, so she wouldn't take her away. He needed at least one friend.
Later that day, he decided to put his plan into action, for his mum had left and was terrorizing the populace.

With dragon in tow, he went straight to the bookshelf, and looked for the hidden switch.

"Let's see here. It's got to be somewhere." he said to his companion. Sure enough after a few fails, he heard a click.

He hid his friend, and started the long decent down the spiral stairs of the Tower.

He couldn't believe his luck. He was really going to see what the world was like. But when he got to the door, his heart sank. It was locked.

It was almost as if she had planned this the entire time. Although that was not true, she didn't want anyone else to enter the tower and find him. So with his plan failed, he went back up to his room, and played his piano.

But unbeknownst to either him or Willow, something was coming that neither one of them expected.
