Will it work if I put these 2 buildings on the same lot?

I think it may work if you assign the lot type to fire station. And your map tags could be a little messed up (lists fire department but not police station or something along those lines).

This could be totally wrong since I haven't tried it out myself, though.

I don't think you can do this, Gingerkid.  The game doesn't let you put two buildings down on one lot, as far as I know.

I don't think you can do this, Gingerkid.  The game doesn't let you put two buildings down on one lot, as far as I know.
I don't know about placing a police station in a fire station lot, but I know you can put multi rabbit holes, multi registers (consignment, potion, pet, relic, extra), professional bar, and more on a market, and consignment lots. If you put everything a fire station needs (alarm, fire truck, beds, showers, sinks, stove, fridge, fun activities, a way to improve your skillls) and still find room for the police rabbit hole it should work. Well unless something about the fire station lot type prevents rabbit holes from working or being placed. I don't see the advantage in mixing them but you can place multiple rabbit holes on the same lot and you can even build a none rabbit hole building on that lot. I have done so countless times as a kind of cheat to save my Sims from running everywhere to do there shopping and selling.

That's not really the same thing, though, is it?  You've got one that's a rabbit hole and one that isn't.  I don't know that they would both function properly if you try to combine them in your own piece of construction.  I haven't tried to do it, but my knowledge of how Edit Town works tells me both buildings won't work on one lot because they have completely different functions.  I mean, a lot can only have one designation, and the designation for a fire station is "Fire Station" while the designation for a Police Station is "Visitors Allowed".

well I put the following rabbit holes and registers all on one lot registered as an elixir consignment lot and they all worked: book store/spa combo, food store/restaurant combo, fairy rabbit hole, gypsy wagon, and vault of antiquity. It also had the farmer's market cart, all the registers, a professional bar, and  a coffee bar. Everything worked except the WA registers and they worked except they had nothing to sell. None of those rabbit holes appeared on a elixir consignment lot in game as shipped but I had no issues. I even got work related opportunities from the wagon, amd wishes from both the vault. the consignment register worker even kept consignment store hours and not elixir store hours. So it isn't that different.

How did you get all of those things on one lot?  Is it something that has changed fairly recently with updates and expansions?  So, you're saying to create a fire station on a lot designated as Fire Station, then place a police station rabbit hole on it along with the fire station building?  Is this common knowledge with the game now that I'm just behind the times on?

How long have you played the file with that community lot without problems?
I haven't tried this myself, but since one icon is showing (like what I thought could happen) it is kind of showing there is a problem with conflicting lots since one is over writing the other. This would probably make the game unstable (crashes and/or glitches at some point). Or it could just be harmless. This is just me assuming, so still this could be wrong. Hope this makes since!

I never done any modifications on a fire station lot as I never seen a need but I have built many of custom lots with functional rabbit holes on lots they are not normally associated with. There may be some special coding not on other lot types with the fire station lot stopping it but if not it should work. I have not done what he is asking exactly but I find if you can place them with properly rabbit holes will work even on lots you will not find on normally. I have been doing such for a long time. As for these lots I have built I have played generations with them.

As to how I just built it from scratch, on the largest lot I could place and used basments. Not hard.

Many thanks everyone. I just wanted them near each other as they're both emergency lots. But I dont think it will work because it has lot as fire station bill give it a try and let you know how it works or not as the case may be.

It appears to work bi had a sim visit the lot and go to both buildings to join law enforcement & then firefighter profession and he entered both buildings perfectly ok and the fire station is full of staff. Yay it worked (fingers crossed it stays ok)
