Photograph skill bug?

OK, I have a problem here. In the Photography Skill journal, there is an option to master the shutternut challenge. It says, complete 5 different photo collection and taking pictures will be free of charge. I completed the Architecture and Buildings collection a few days ago and the challenge shows that I have completed 1 out of 5 collection. Then when I check the photography skill journal in a few Sim days time, the challenge shows that I have completed none but my Architecture and Building collection shows that it is completed!

What is the cause of this? Am I missing something here? Also, my collection journal showed that the unique rocks analyzed was about 40% a few days ago but now it went down to 9%! I travelled to Egypt a few days ago and I am not sure whether this is the cause of the problem.

OK, I have completed the still life and Architecture and building photo collection but my skill journal now shows just ONE completed so far! What should I do now?

OK, I exited from the game and now my collection journal shows that the unique space rocks analyzed is just 3%!!!! Down from 40%, then 9% and now 3%!

What is the reason for this? By the way, my Sim was in France when I saved the game and exited!

OK, I got a response from the Sims 3 official website and the response was that some numbers get reset when you travel.

Anyone here has experienced this bug?

Yes, I've experienced this resetting problem.  I think in my case it was nectar making - the numbers of batches made decreased when my sim travelled.  Annoying, but not as bad as some of the other travel bugs (clones, invisible sims, etc, etc).

Thanks for the reply finally! Is there any way to prevent this from happening? I mean I am trying to find 100% types of space rocks but when this problem appears, it seems impossible! The same goes for photography as well!

Will EA fix this problem soon? Does EA knows about this? This problem is just ruining my game and out of frustration, I am beginning to use "cheats"!

Excellent questions.  I don't know any way of preventing the problems other than to avoid travelling.  As to whether EA knows about the problems - well, given that you and I aren't the only ones who have had travel problems, I suspect they likely do.  As to when the problems will be fixed - all any of us can do is wait and see, I think.

You could always take a sim traveling that you don't care about. What I mean is, I never take my main sim on vacations because of all the bugs. Make a "utility" sim, or even add someone to your house, but than make them do all the traveling and getting recipes or whatever. That way, if something does happen, it won't happen to the main one!

But how will my "main" Sim capture travel photos if I try this method?

You're main one wouldn't be able too, but it's the safest way to get the recipes, books and fish until EA fixes it. And the utility sim could get them and give them to your main one!

I've had this and it annoys me because I would like to get shutter bug on some Sim at some point, the only way I can think of to deal with it is to deliberately not complete any collection until you've got all the traveling required pictures (even the travel collection has a couple of shots you can take back home as far as I recall), basically just leave one easy to get shot un-taken in each of five collections and only take them when you can complete all five without traveling, then either don't travel again or hope that once the challenge is achieved it stays achieved regardless of the resetting. I haven't actually tested this but I think it should work.

me too it was so frustrating but finally got the challenge! even though i have 8 completed collections.

does anyone know what the "bonus collection" thing is about?
