Page Turning - Pt. 2
« Reply #60 on: October 01, 2013, 11:22:30 PM »
The days that passed were spent in silent reflection.  Elodie proved herself a talented pianist. She immersed herself ... not so much in grief as in confusion. She didn't seem to understand why Freddie wasn't around anymore.  When Clover explained death, Elodie insisted that she could reverse it with her green thumb.

Clover suspected it was better this way.

And besides, their mourning was about to take a big backseat.

Elodie was the only one home when Desi went into labor.  She found it ... alarming.

She did take Desi to the hospital, but walked a safe distance behind her, unsure how the sprout would eventually emerge and at what speed.

As it turns out, it took a very long time.  By the time Desi finally emerged from the hospital with her squalling bundle of Cordelia Clojo, Elodie was bored senseless.

"Can you turn that thing down?" she asked distractedly.  "I can't hear my game."

Desi didn't answer.

Shawnya's grief lifted the minute Cordelia came home.  And after a festival of snuggles and kisses, she completed her lifetime wish of being super popular.  Her granddaughter was her 20th friend.  How perfect is that?

She aged up looking JUST like her grandpa.  She also inherited her mom's imaginary friend powers.

Having a little Freddie doppleganger in the house definitely served to comfort Shawnya.

And everyone else for that matter.

She was a delight.

Sam had no idea how he'd gotten so lucky.

Desi wondered when her maternity leave would end.

But really she loved it.  Every minute with her baby made her feel full of life and accomplishment.

Cordelia was a light in a house that had briefly gone dark.

Meanwhile, Clover called Kyle nightly.  She had everything done except for two levels at her job.  Sadly when the game opened today, the settings had reset so the watcher had to move her lifespan back to medium and lost three whole days off of her adulthood.  Clover is pretty sure she'll manage anyway.  She's found a way to get her boss in a great mood.

Cordelia aged up sooner than the family could even process her toddler cuteness.  Desi looked forward to sleeping a full night.

She became a pretty kid.

Though her first moments of child-level sentient thinking was unfortunately thrown into trauma by her aunt in lingerie honking at her with a party horn, petals flying from inside.  It was an image that would stick with her for the rest of her days.

Her first best friends were her mother and her grandmother.  Grandma could be a bit much sometimes.

But really, Cordelia knew grandma was special and on borrowed time.  So she put up with it.

Her best kid friend was Dylan Pereria.  He was bald.

Cordelia wondered at dinner the night after she met Dylan what it would be like if she were bald.

"We'd love you a little less," Elodie said, causing several family members to choke on their dinner.

Cordelia couldn't even make out a sentence in the following buzz of dissent.  Her mother was fiendishly delighted.

She didn't so much mind bald Dylan though.  He was fun and he liked the same colors as her.

She found out that his name means "son of the sea" and hers means "daughter of the sea."   Her aunt Clover taught her that.  Aunt Clover is really smart.

"You were named for a warrior queen, little bee," Clover said before bed right before Cordelia's first day of school.  "You'll have no problem riding into battle."

Cordelia just hoped she was ready.

Freddie!  No!  *sniffle*  It's just not right!  Cordelia is adorable!  Hm... out of curiosity, how do you know when they have the IF powers?  I've had several kids from IF pairings... I'm not sure I've ever really noticed the offspring having the IF powers.

Dangit, Freddie keeps dying! That is so not allowed! On the upside, Cordelia is adorable and I really hope she and the son of the sea get together.

Freddie! No! He needs to learn how to live longer, instead of dying the second his bar is up. I'm happy Cordelia looks like a mini him, though. She's pretty adorable. I absolutely love Elodie's hair! The color of it is just perfect.

They have the ability to "turn into doll form" once they reach the child stage.  As far as I know, that's the extent of their gifts

Freddie doesn't stay longer than he must, I suppose.  It is always hard to see him go.

Elodie is a lot of fun.  She always takes me by surprise.

----

Shawnya Clojo must have felt her time coming.  One morning, she woke early and interrupted her daughter for a hug and a deep expression of pride and love.

And then, just like that, she was gone.

The family mourned Shawnya's passing, but she was ready.  And besides, she'd done it before.

Once again, the house was in mourning.

This seemed like a good time for Clover to invite her fiance to move in with them.  It was only mildly surprising to her when he showed up an elder.

They had prepared for this.  Clover hit him with one of the potions Freddie had gathered in his many trips to the alchemist.

And Kyle became part of the family.

He went to work as an architect and settled quickly into the Clojo home, enjoying his rediscovered youth.

In the meantime, little Cordelia became a teenager.

And a genius one at that.

Only a few days older than her, her best friend Dylan had also become a teen.  Apparently the transition had granted him some rather age appropriate hair.  Cordelia suddenly felt more than just friendly toward her oldest friend.

He stayed over often, though he didn't have a need for sleep.

He had grown up a bit neurotic and Bonehilda had to be put away when he was there.  Other than that, the family welcomed him as one of their own.  It was just another one of those inevitable things.

Though he did turn Cordelia down the first time she asked him to prom.  "I might age up first," he said.  "So what?" asked Cordelia.  And so he begrudgingly consented.

It made for a strange prom photo, in the end.

Meanwhile, life went on in the Clojo house.  All did very well in their careers.

Elodie adopted a kitten named Pepper.

And Clover, while still trying to play fetch into her promotions, aged up into a temporary elder.  Them's the breaks, Clove.

No Pain No Gain - Pt 2 of 3
« Reply #65 on: October 05, 2013, 11:49:08 AM »
Desi attempted to comfort Clover on her elder status.  "At least it's just temporary," she said.  "I've got a kid turning into a young adult tomorrow!"

Clover supposed this was a fair point.  At least she had a beautiful young fiance to soothe the burn.

And a glorious holiday season besides.  Even without snow, Isla Paradiso felt festive this year.

The mistletoe had become a favorite fixture in the house.  All seemed to feel that it would've been much appreciated by the founders of this dynasty.  And it opened the doors to some harmless exploration.

On Snowflake Day, the family held a party.  Clover used it to ask for promotions.

But mostly it was the standard gift-giving fare.

Sam and Desi gifted Cordelia a book on alchemy and a station, something the youngest Clojo found very appealing.

She knew it wasn't a traditional career, but she'd rolled the LTW several times and to her, this seemed like a seal of parental approval.

She was particularly interested in learning the formula that had made her soon-to-be Uncle Kyle young again.  She even knew who her first test subject would be.  The lady that talked Elodie out of her clothes at the children's center.

Cordelia wasn't entirely sure what went on that day, but she knew Elodie was smitten.

Since that day, Elodie spent much time pondering the strangeness of the human species.

The gift giving party would've been perfect if not for one unwelcome guest.

Perhaps inviting so many elders was a poor idea.

As soon as they got rid of him, he showed up again.  So, the presents never finished being opened.  The man's last thought was regret at attending this fete.

At least Desi had a good time.

Elodie felt confrontational.

"And the theme music!" she ranted to a speechless grim.  "Can't you make an entrance without the ridiculous fanfare?!"

In the end he felt chastened.

The day Clover finished her requirements was also Cordelia's young adult birthday.

She let Cordelia go first.

And then happily shed her elder form.

Clover went back to her old wardrobe while Cordelia created one of her own.

She was a gorgeous combination of her parents.

On the morning of her aunt and uncle's long awaited wedding, she took it upon herself to seal her own fate by proposing to sweet, neurotic Dylan.

He was receptive.  Cordelia was a bit distracted during the process.  Can you spot her distraction?

Cordelia fully forgot her fiance for a few moments upon finding Horatio the Tortoise.  Dylan felt understanding.

So it was that Horatio joined the Clojo clan and attended Clover's wedding day.

Clover didn't marry at the chapel.  She wanted to wed at the waterfall near the peak of the big island.  The family didn't mind the climb.

Clover felt victorious.

After all, those requirements had been a lifetime coming.  And now, she finally had what she'd worked toward.

And a lifetime ahead to be a wife and mother.

By the end of the day, that latter bit was confirmed.

Clover was sure in that moment that she was the happiest Clojo in the land.  Only the Watcher knew otherwise.  But the Watcher was fine keeping Horatio's secret and letting Clover have her moment of supreme joy.

That is a pretty sweet tank, though.

Aw, I love that the last thing Shawnya did was hug her daughter. Clover cheering while climbing the hill to get married is hilarious; so is Horatio's happy paddling in the tank. Those glasses really suit Cordelia; not sure I've ever seen a sim really pull those off before. Kyle looks like he should bring in some good baby making genes to the family. And oh, Elodie! It's good someone finally decided to put Grim in his place.  :P

It was really sweet and autonomous too.  Shawnya was a great mom.

---

Clover couldn't believe she was finally going to be a mom.  Kyle seemed pretty excited too.

There were slight feelings of guilt that she'd started over, back to the spring of her youth while the others were gripped by the inevitable pull of time.

Sam was fine with aging.  He was an easygoing sort, like his father.

Desi was less than thrilled but came to terms with it.

Maternity leave was the first real downtime Clover had ever experienced.  She set about re-designing the nursery for her incoming nooboo, whose gender had been predicted by her brother.  Like her parents, Clover did not eat fruit to determine her baby's gender.

She did, however, stay active through her pregnancy.  Boredom does take a toll.

When she finally went into labor, Elodie was the only other awake person in the room.  She promptly saw that Kyle also was awake.

And did her usual panicked dance.

Cordelia had had enough of this nonsense and withdrew to the alchemy shop to study up.

Because no one was calm enough to take her to the hospital, Clover gave birth to little Sugar Clojo in her bedroom.

She is excitable and good.  Her favorite color is pink.

Her new nursery reflects this preference.

When her birthday rolled around, Clover finally agreed to change back into her normal clothes.

So she and her daughter took to the wardrobe area in tandem.  Sugar looks a lot like her mom, but shows possible signs of her daddy's lip shape.  No one is clear on where the black hair came from.  The Watcher has decided that she inherited it from Great Granddad Emmett.

To everyone's surprise, Bonehilda had some cake.

And Clover got started on Sugar's skills (after some tickling and snuggles, of course).

Cordelia stole as many moments with her fiance as possible.  Dylan was patient and knew he'd be able to join the Clojo house in good time.

There was an open slot, but Cordelia had announced recently that it would be occupied soon.  And not by her new husband.

Her parents were over the moon.

Meanwhile, Sugar learned her skills.  Her first word was "Cake."

And her first steps were just as sweet.

She didn't raise much of a fuss at all, really.  Everyone agreed she was a very easy baby.

Though very, very choosy when it came to mealtime.

Clover and Kyle knew they'd done the dynasty proud.

Hm, sounds like the world just got the next most tiny, adorable chef-to-be! (Sugar . . . mealtime . . . cake.) I hope, however, she doesn't get Emmett's unfortunate jelly-bean eating tendencies.

It was nice of Elodie to wake Kyle up; seems like sims so often just sleep right on through! Her panick dance was particularly funny.

When Bonehlida eats cake, where does it go?  :o

I figure Bonehilda will clean up any mess she makes ... but yeah.  Did not expect her to go for the cake.  And you are correct!  I wasn't planning on doing my Classic names this time through and named Clover after her luckiness, but now that I've planned it out, I have a male and a female name for each planned heir, and gender will fall where it may.  I have decided I love skill names.

I love that image.  It's so sweet.  I'll have to make a wall of kissing founders/heirs ... until I have to leave all the photos behind for the next town  :'(

-----

Sugar is a growing girl.  She sometimes forgets herself in enthusiasm for delicious foods.

She's named her favorite toy "Puff."  Which seems like an homage to a famous children's film, but really is an homage to her current favorite dessert.

With her birthday approaching, the children's room that Elodie and Desi used to share was redecorated to Sugar's tastes.

And besides, the nursery would be occupied very soon.

Cordelia was still working away at becoming a master alchemist and spent most of her pregnancy at the elixir shop, where she'd become a bit of a fixture.

Sugar looked to her mama to learn how to safely blow out the candles on that delicious confection that would see her to childhood.

She wished for ambition.

She got decent hair and weird boots.  She went upstairs to change immediately in her new bedroom.

Sugar still loves pink.

Puff was put away and replaced by her kite, which she named Windsail.

When it was raining or too dark to play with her kite, Sugar baked lots of little treats with her kiddie oven.

One night, Elodie got old.

And in that universal timing that seems to keep the world ticking, at the same moment, Sugar's Aunt Cordelia went into labor.

Having a prominent doctor for a dad definitely didn't hurt Cordelia's experience.  He calmly shuffled her outdoors and sailed her to the big island on the way to the hospital.

All the way there, he smiled softly and told her how proud he was.

It calmed Cordelia.  And several hours later, she gave birth to a little hydrophobic alien girl named Fiona.

Sam was no less helpful once the labor was over.  He doted on baby Fiona.

Sugar thought about baby Fiona a lot while watching her kite jump and cut through the air.

She figured that every person in the family was a kite to themselves while the others were holding the string so they didn't fly away.  Sugar liked that.  She liked thinking that baby Fiona would see Sugar as an older, smarter girl and an anchor while she learned to fly like Windsail.

All the same, is was exciting when it was time for Fiona to get bigger

Elodie, what ... what's going on with your face?

I don't even know.  We'll deal with that later.  Toddler Fiona!  She got Shawnya/Sam hair!

Fiona was a picky eater.  This would be a different experience for the Clojo clan.

Desi took over walking lessons.

And speculated that she had grown soft in her old age.  At least where Fiona was concerned.

Making good use of the new children's toys, I see! The kite is just super cute; I was wondering how it would actually look in game. (I decided to skip the toy-making machine.) Oh Elodie! She keeps cracking me up; that's pie all over her face from the pie eating contest. Well, Fiona may be a picky eater, but I'm sure her cousin will be able to help with that soon enough.
