Library folder causing issues, even when empty?
« on: September 10, 2013, 02:08:25 PM »
So a couple days ago, my game just suddenly stopped wanting to load (I haven't added anything new or updated to the latest patch yet.) I'd click on the exe file, the screen would turn black, and then nothing. I'd have to ctrl-alt-delete out to get back to my desktop where task manager tells me The Sims isn't responding. I ended up doing the entire resetting the game without uninstalling method and everything worked fine as I added back my mods and whatnot one by one until I added my Library folder back in. That's when the loading issue started again. I pulled out all the files that were in the Library folder (all my downloaded buildings, saved houses, etc.) and left the folder empty. Tried to start the game, got the same non-loading issue. Then I took the empty folder out and now the game starts.

Is there any way to fix whatever this problem is? I can run the game without the Library folder, but where would I put all my saved lots then?

Well maybe one of your mod is corrupted and doesn't work anymore or is incompatible with others of your mods, try updating them or maybe updating your game and if the error keeps after you do that then you have to see which mods are incompatible with others or which mods are corrupted.

I don't have any mods anymore (I've taken them out again and left them out since attempting to reset the game a second time), so I know it's not a mod issue here.

I think you have one "bad" lot in your Library that is causing that . You could check it with Delphy Custard to see if you have a corrupted item in the Library folder .

Maybe you have tried this already, but if not, you could do a Factory Reset, and get a completely new and clean Library folder.

I ended up having to reinstalling the base game and then bring it up to 1.57 for things to work again. Sometimes, this game is more work than fun.
