How many saved games?
« on: September 05, 2013, 04:43:36 AM »
So I'm relatively new to the sims world (this year) and started with just the base game, got a bit carried away with a large family which then obviously all moved out & had families of their own and along with townies I had a very large town. Then when I got EPs I added extra content to my game, making my town even bigger, too big to cope.

So now with major EPs like IP, Pets, Supernatural I'mgoung to have separate games and pop into them on different days etc. anyway my point & question is this,
How many saved games can you have? The main menu has only 4 slots I think so if you have more or want more how do you go about this?

Many thanks & happy Sim'ing

I don't know the exact number, but you can have many saved games.  I've had at least 20 at a time, I'm sure.  Just save the file like you do any other time and it will show up on the loading screen.  When there are more than four saved games, an arrow will appear so you can scroll sideways and see all the other saves.

You're welcome.  I feared the same thing when I first started playing.  :)

This question is discussed in another thread also. I wonder if anyone here on this forum knows the correct answer? If not, I think I'm going to have to run a test to determine exactly how many saves you can actually have before you hit the limit.

I believe it comes down to how much free space you have on your hard drive. I've easily had over 30, what with Saver running every 30 minutes, making a set of 5 files each time I change the name of the save.

If you think about it, no matter how many saves you have, the game itself only uses one file at a time.

I have now spent some time with searching the Internet for an answer, and it seems that the general opinion is that it basically comes down to the size of the free space on your harddrive.

I have also tried it on my computer, and I could have 27 saved games without any problems or restrictions. So I think it's safe to conclude that the allowed number of save games will be quite enough for 99 %, maybe even 100 %, of the Sims 3 players. That's good to know. :)
