I have no idea why, but the CrumpleFours don't save. They look like they've saved, everything goes completely fine, I quit, go to the menu and it's back to the last save. Also, I've deployed some methods like window mode, lower graphics, and all of my other saves run, well, not fine, I can't play in Isla Paradiso still, but they're OK. I've decided that when I get the disc of IP, I'll try again then, but if it doesn't work, it's the graveyard. 

I may start another version if it does not work.

Rikki about the save files. If I have to many saves in the save folder my game is not always showing them all. Try to browse the save folder and see if they are there.

I realized I still had the .bad file, deleted that to see if anything happened, and A Serious Error apparently occurred when I tried to load them up.

I cleared out most of my saves, tried again, error code 16.  I love my life.

Used save as, then went to main menu. Worked...but for some reason my legit file(I did motherlode to get some big obvious stuff in the garden so I could see if it worked) is gone. I would ask if I can delete the objects and take away the remains of the cheat, but I don't remember the total. I really do love my life.
