I'm only in World 1 and Generation 2 is still a child.

Snufflesxx, you have 2 options:

1) Evict your family again to the clipboard using edit town, and also delete your house (save a copy of your house first).  Then move the house back to the lot, and move family back.  Maybe the house is bugged, and this might solve the problem, and hopefully you will be able to continue your dynasty in the world.

2) Do you have at least 5 worlds?  The team is giving you permission to uproot your entire family to a new world and continue your dynasty there.  However you will still need to move for heir 4,8,12.  The moving to a new world should definitely solve your aging bug.

Also, please no more young again potions, it's giving me grey hair.  Let me know which option you choose.

At this point, I'm frustrated to all heck, and would like to just go into edit town and raze the dang place. But, that's obviously not an option. I'd love suggestions on how to get the resort functioning, and if all else fails, I'd like permission to raze via build mode, and sell it, and chalk it up to...I don't know what. I can't imagine what's causing this. At all.

Shirin, the team is giving you permission to raze the dang place, if you still can't get the resort to work after buying it back.

Thank you very much! I definitely learned my lesson about resorts, though I can safely say this is the most bizarre bug I'd yet encountered with IP.

I will also definitely rethink my strategy of using IP as one of my move-to worlds.

Update:

I purchased the property back, set it to "open resort" and it did. The staff all came out of nowhere at the back of the property (literally, just materialized), and so far, it's where it is supposed to be, they are where they are supposed to be, and I just watched roaches get stomped. The resort I sold as 1 star came back as 5 star (go figure!).

Still not gonna tempt fate, though, and build resorts in non-IP towns, and I'm not going to play world 4 as IP, either.

Oh, and the darn dog finally died, at 41 days (no gourmet food or life-extension LTR either).

Woot.  Glad you got your resort working, this tells me the game can manage the resort better than a player.   ;)

Soooo a spare came home from boarding school due to a marriage adding a new household member.  Her schooling bar showed her in community high school rather than Smuggsworth, so I went ahead and kept her home and aged her up.  Her attempts at enrolling in university (with my heir) were all cancelled immediately "due to unforeseen circumstances."  So I did some research and the first fix was moving her out and back in.  I did this.  When she moved back in, her phone had reverted to the "blackberry" design rather than the smart phone design.  Tried sending just my heir to university after that, but got the same error.

Could I possibly have permission to evict my household in edit town, then move them back in?  I'm not sure what else to try other than nix traveling all together in only gen 2.  Which would really suck considering I also don't have access to the consignment register due to a glitch.  I'm wondering if moving the game over to my new computer (mac to PC) created an issue...

Tilia-

Yes, you have permission to go ahead and evict your household in edit town.  Good luck.

I tried option 1 and again it did nothing. So it looks like town jumping is my only solution. My only question is what do I do about purchased properties?

You forget about any purchased properties in the bugged town and when you move to a new one you are essentially starting with a clean slate and would need to still purchase all properties before moving again.

Have you tried to save your house to the house bin, then evict your family out, bulldoze the house, then replace it with the one you saved to the house bin? Then move the family back into the house.

That's exactly what I did but it had no effect.

Hmm, that is going to make things harder. Doesn't matter though, they're pretty rich  :)

EDIT: They've moved, but it seems my twins are no longer registered as twins. I don't think it should cause any problems unless they start flirting with each other which would just be messed up!  :P

Something the challenge team may want to consider (personally, I find it to be a bit of a non-issue, but I'm not challenge team for a reason :P)

It appears the new patch 1.63 offers two loading screen options when the game is firing up - the original one that loads random tips, or funny sayings, and a new interactive one that asks you to find various objects and awards LTHP based on those finds. When the game file in question is fired up, the LTHP is distributed amongst all members of the household evenly. So, for example, you earn 800 LTHP from the screen game, and your game file is 4 sims big - each sim gets an additional 200 LTHP.

The reason I find it a non-issue is that players can already take advantage of the LTHP gifting option, which was deemed small enough to be trivial. I can't imagine anyone finding the time in their days to constantly shut down and restart Sims 3 just for the additional LTHP, and it's not all funnelled to one sim anyway.

(Also, while I personally found it entertaining, I have other things I can do while the game is loading, so I just turned off the option.)

I was just typing the post and you beat me to it:) Sorry challenge team I gained a few points on loading then realized what it is about and stopped. Maybe dynasty players should hold off from that mini-game?

Hmmmm...interesting. I'll jot this new info down and the pull the chains of the other teams members to discuss this. Yeah, I would say for now that Dynasty players just use the original start up screen.

Shirin-

Did you watch the live demo?  The smoke alarm going off had me laughing so hard.

I find it non issue for dynasty play, but will affect certain tournament play.
