I have a question about nanites and the family four collection. If I catch a valuable nanite in the wild and then reverse engeneer it, can I then create that nanite four times and use it for my collection? I understand I can't use nanites I buy from the bot emporium, but if I catch it in the wild first I think it should be fine just like things created by the science skill are. Or am I wrong?

Not sure, Ill check with the team and will let you know.

I wonder, what are the rules if I turn ITF off for the self employment generations, then turn it back for the others? Is that permitted or a no-no?

Normally i would just turn it off for the rest of the dynasty, don't know if the boss allows you turning it back and forth.  I'lll check with the team and let you know.

I just wanted everyone to know that stardust and dark matter that you collect on Simulon V doesn't show up in the collection journal, so they don't count as either space rocks or gems or any of those things and can be used in the family four collection.

Shirin-
Confirmed with Metro, the answer is "yes, it is permitted".

Does this mean that other expansions can be turned on and off or is it an ITF-only concession because of the bugs?

No, only Into the Future expansion pack can be turned on and off because of the bugs.  The others must remain "on" once you chosen which expansions to play with before you start the dynasty.  You can add expansions during play (buying new xpac), but you can't turn it off once you turn it on. :)

Yes, you can use the nanites from reverse engineering.

Even though it doesn't show on the collection journal, you can still count them for the family collection.

There have been many questions about items for the family collection, I have decided to list out everything that is qualified and not qualified.  Please let me know if I have missed anything.

January 2nd, 2014 -- Rules Clarification:

Qualified Item List — Criminal career objects taken home, Career reward objects (culinary career fridge, law enforcement squad car, Fox statue, etc), celebrity freebies in family inventory, wedding presents, love gifts, field trip souvenirs, Stolen Items by a Sim (not rabbit hole steals), afterschool activity trophies, time travel items, paintings, photos, elixirs, sculptures, beetles, butterflies, turtles, lizards, rodents, birds, snakes, fireflies, gems, metals, spacerocks, fish, relics, inventions, nectar, wildflowers, books, spirits, Gnomes, Lifetime Happiness Reward objects (i.e. teleporter, collection helper), skill certificates, plants, moneybags, fancy festival eggs, samples or clones from the science skill, street art, seashells, messages in a bottle, nanites collected or from reversed engineering, star dust, dark matter, upgraded items from handiness skill, cooked dishes from cooking skill, and any harvestables from Omni Plants.

Non-Qualified Item list — items made from the transfiguration table, items made from witch conversion spell, consignment store purchases.

Non-omni plant harvestables (apples, garlic, basil, moneybags, etc) are missing.

Also, could you clarify the difference between "criminal career objects" and "stolen items" that are non-rabbit hole?

As in, anything stolen while at work in the criminal rabbit hole, and separately, what a klepto steals?

I have "plants" in the approved list, wouldn't apples, garlic, basil, etc count as plants?  I added moneybags in the list.

Also, could you clarify the difference between "criminal career objects" and "stolen items" that are non-rabbit hole?
Stolen items -- items stolen by sims with the klepto trait, like Agnes's car.
Criminal Career Objects -- When you work in the criminal rabbit hole job, sometimes you steal trinkets while you at work.  There will be a message letting you know your sim has swipe something while at work, and it will be in your family inventory.

As in, anything stolen while at work in the criminal rabbit hole, and separately, what a klepto steals?

Yes, these 2 are separate groups.  So you could have items stolen by a klepto sims as one of your collection, and criminal career objects taken home as another one of your collection.

Ah, thank you!

And apologies about the plants, I looked over the list three times, and just couldn't find them. Of course, this time, then I found them. :-[

So, we are free to turn of ITF if we so choose? I could for example turn it off when I move to town 3 but keep it for the first two towns?

Yes, you can turn off ITF in town 3 but keep it for first 2 towns.  Remember this only applies to ITF xpac because of the opps bug, can't do that to other xpacs.

If a Sim with the photography skill gets a call/opp to go to a WA location and take a photo, is this a travel opp or a skill opp, and does it count?
