I've been neglecting my sims
« on: August 28, 2013, 12:36:17 PM »
I just don't feel like playing. Every time I think of picking up that controller I honestly can't be bothered. I've started playing another game recently so it's not the PS3 itself, just any Sims game. Does anyone know how I can snap out of this? What do you guys do when this happens? I want to want to play if that makes sense? I get lots of enjoyment out of it but I haven't played in nearly a month (yes, I know, I totally suck lol).
So...any advice? :D

I think we all get that way sometimes.  I am going through some of what you are now.  Try a challenge or try making a couple of sims and only controlling one of them and see what the other does without your help.  Don't feel bad, I hate those types of slumps, but it does happen.  I work 40 hours a week and do not play during the week, so I try to play on weekends, but sometimes, just don't feel like it.  Also, if you like to write, think of a story line and write a story.

I don't think there are any challenges for the console. You could sort of follow one, but adapt it to fit. I know that anything requiring more than about 4 generations causes saving problems, and only six sims (not counting pets) are allowed per household. I used to play the console, both regular and pets, and I know I lost interest after getting all the trophies. I started making odd households - good, evil, insane - and that helped for a while. I totally understand. I started playing Fallout 3.

Oops, sorry.  I wasn't paying attention to that.  I did, however, try the console version.  I didn't enjoy that as much as PC version though.

I agree. I like the pc version much better. So many more possibilities.

I'm there right now sadly.  I started creating sims specifically to go through challenges and trophies but after a while it gets tiresome.  I have The Sims 3 Pets for PS3.  I tried finding The Sims 3 for PS3 but none of the stores nearby carry it.  Maybe after they sold out they didn't order it again.  It has been out for some time.

Wow guys, thanks for all the replies <3 I actually started a story with my sims as characters (hey, they were already made lol, not much imagination required on my part ;) ) but even that got boring..I could try the controlling one sim, seems like a good idea. Another I had was trying to make them look like people, like celebrities. My partner helped me make the young ones (a British sitcom from the 80's) but I got sick of that too! I'm sure I'll want to play it again one day, it makes me sad that I don't want to at the moment though. Oh I didn't know that about the generations thing. That really sucks. Is it with Pets and the normal versions? Is there a way around it?
The PC version is probably better but I still love the PS3 version. I can't play the PC version anyway, my disc drive is broken..one day maybe.
Grim Reaper, have you tried looking online? I found a few copies on ebay if it helps any? :) I got lucky with mine, it was the last one they had at the shop.

Wonderfreak, I did look at Walmart online but nobody seems to have it so I can't do site to store or anything.  I've never done ebay.  But, to be honest I'm getting bored of Pets for PS3 so I don't know if getting The Sims 3 would help since I heard there's little difference between it and Pets for console.

This is very true. The normal version gets dull a little faster than the Pets version, I found. If you ever do come across it though it might be worth buying I guess. It seems harder to find than the Pets one though which I found weird.
I still haven't played yet. This happened with the PS2 version about four years ago and I never played it again..I hope that's not the case with this one lol...we'll see!

Yeah if I see it I'll probably pick it up but not for the $60 price.  Gamestop will probably still have it for $60, even if a game has been out for 5 years it'll still be $60.  They sell used games too which are supposed to play like new but sometimes they aren't much cheaper.

:O how can they justify that? That's ridiculous :( If i could I'd buy a copy for you. I played pets the other day and I enjoyed it a bit so maybe I'm not in a rut? We'll see :p I hope you start enjoying it again too eventually. Sometimes all you need is a break I guess?

I get bored sometimes as well, but when i find myself getting bored with it, i create a new game and make sims with outrageous personalities. Such as, making one sim Good/friendly and making another sim in the same family Evil/mean spirited. For me, it gets really interesting what happens. I own the ps3 version as well, and there are challenges. Some are as easy to complete. all you have to do for some of them is just tour a building like the science lab.

I asked for The Sims 3 on PS3 for Christmas.  It is really cheap on amazon, around $22.  I heard it has pretty much the same stuff, but without pets but I feel like it'll be a new game.

Grim, do you not play on PC? One thing you'll like about Sims (compared to Pets) is the colors will be normal lol. I tended to like Pets better, even with the color issue.
