Dormant plants after winter
« on: August 20, 2013, 05:31:13 PM »
So I'm a good gardener and I've maxed out the skill several times with several different sims. But since I added Seasons I've been having some trouble. It seems that once my plants go dormant for the winter once spring rolls around they thaw out but don't produce anymore fruit. I've had to replace my garden plants twice which in the particular game I'm in is a hassle because I'm trying to make my cooking sim perfect every single dish, which I want all perfect fruits for. Is this just a glitch or is there a way to go around that?

You could always move them inside to a greenhouse by using the move objects on cheat, then they usually thaw out a day after being in there and don't go dormant again.

This sounds like a glitch, but there is a solution with Supernatural. Get an empty room in your sims house. I tend to use a basement. Place some planter pots down and put a sprinkler in to save time. Using buy mode, move all plants into the planter pots. Unfortunately, your trees will have to stay dormant. Keep gardening as usual! This method will make sure that the plants remain awake throughout the year.

Just a quick question; When the plants 'Thaw out', do they have the actions greyed out?

Hope this kind of helps!

The only thing with that is that I can't plant new ones inside. I'd have to constantly move them inside after planting them outside. But I think you're right. That might be the only thing I can do

Nope the action isn't there at all, the plant says growth state harvest but there isn't any fruit on it. All the normal actions are there just not harvest, however Analyze harvestable is there but its grayed out because there are no fruit. (this particular sim is also scientifically inclined)
I have a few special plants in pots but it seems like they don't stay watered as long and the sprinkler doesn't do a whole lot. I thought that was a glitch too.

thanks for the replies this is helping =]

You can plant anything you want inside if you turn on moveobjects first, you don't even need to bother with planters. Just remember to turn it back off after you give the planting orders.

Sprinklers don't seem to water planters.
