Trouble With Houseboats

I started a Sim family and moved them onto a houseboat. The Dad took the water taxi to get to the mainland for work, and when he came back, the taxi never dropped him off. It just circled the houseboat a good twenty times. When I tried to cancel the action, the taxi just disappeared entirely. So I clicked 'find my Sim', and he was all the way in the corner of the playable screen, in the water - or, rather, under the water - and totally unplayable. What should I do? Has anyone else had this problem?

I've never had a bug like this before, but resetsim [firstname surname] should take your sim back to the houseboat, providing it is their main point of residence.
