I have a few, some have 'bad' at the end. How would I restore them?

The .bad ones are not worth recovering, but any without the .bad extension can be recovered by removing .backup from the folder name, so that it's "[save name].sims3" again.

So I would just remove the .backup file, but then do what will the original save and the .bad file?

It should actually delete .bad files, but recovering the backup shouldn't overwrite it either. Just to make sure that it doesn't overwrite your main save, try changing the file name from, say, "dynasty.sims3.backup" to "dynasty-2.sims3" so it won't affect the main save.

Ugh. This is so confusing. I saw on another website for recovering world files that you would rename the backup, delete the main and the .bad and it would show up in your worlds. Is that what I should do?

Yes, though I'd move the main one to your desktop/anywhere outside of the Saves folder instead of deleting it.

To everyone, I bring good news! I got the backup file from when Mellony was about to age up to YA! Yay! Currently, I keep trying to age her back up on her birthday but when I try to change her clothes, it crashes. So I will try to fix that up and then the Skydream dynasty will be back up! And yes I'm still in school right now. I'm in science, but hey. I've got nothing to lose.  Also, near Christmas I will be getting a fast desktop so I can play without so many crashes because currently I am on a laptop. I'm very happy and thanks for all the support!

Yay!!!Glad you got the save file to work again.
(Gosh you guys are so lucky, in my school our rules are really strict & i wouldn't even be allowed to have my phone/ipod in my pocket. Doesn't help that i sit in the front row in science  )
