Goth Manor Resort
« on: August 15, 2013, 09:28:16 PM »
Awhile ago I entered my remodel of the Goth Manor in SV in a contest.  Don't remember if it won or not, (think it did), and after reading how someone used a build to make a resort, Goth Manor immediately came to mind.  So I made a few changes and Goth Manor is now a high class resort.  (Abandoned Nectary next?)  There are a few store items now but they are easily replaced by the game with like items.  NO CC or mods used.

Name:  Goth Manor Resort
Lot Size:  64x64
Price:  Sorry, don't remember but it was over $400 k

EPs/SPs:  SN, LN, WA, SNS, Gen, ST, UL, Pets, IP, AM, FL, TL, Hel, MS, OL

Store Items:  Winning Team Flags, Theo's Contempo Coffee Table, Archway to Paradise, Vorn Sink Plus, Le Cirgue Esprit Carousel Spring Riders, Wide Romantique Wall Mirror, Surf's Up Floor Lamp, In Like Flynn Fusion Guitar, Good Luck Coffee Table, PlasmaTron Tv, Animal Friends Activity Table, Ode to Distraction Desk, The Red Carpet Collection, Anna's Living Chair

Description:  A lovely victorian style mansion turned away from the gloomy goth look to a bright and pleasing painted lady look and restored to become a premier resort destination.  This resort has all you'd want and more.  Only the creme de la creme of society will be found here, (or those with deep pockets!).  All the usual amenities and much, much more.  Situated in the rolling hills of Sunset Valley this is your relaxation vaction spot par none.  Fish in the lovely, landscaped, lakes, swim in the oversize pool, or just kick back in one of the two hot tubs.  Feeling a bit overstuffed from our wonderful buffet?  Try a workout in the well equipped gym, or just relax in one of the many VIP suites.  Did you bring the kiddies?  There is even an ensuite that includes a room for nooboos and a playground and water slide for the little ones.  Fun for all ages!

Entry with concierge desk, sitting room, dining room, and buffet room.  (I slightly changed the dining room in mine.  Removed one long table and added two more buffet tables)

Gym, one of the two hot tubs and a bit of the fire pit.

Pool with bar, snack bar and both hot tubs.

Coal walk, fire pit, trampoline and water slide.  (I kept the graveyard)

VIP ensuites and peace garden.

Undeveloped rooms.  There is another upstairs as well.

Fishing anyone?  Or a bit of golf?  How about just a stroll through the beautifully landscaped grounds?

I hope you enjoy it.  I have NOT play tested it so let me know if there is anything I need to fix please.

This is very pretty. I didn't know that the Goth mansion had so much potential.

Very nice and you can still tell it's the Goth Manor. I look forward to getting in my game and maybe adding Gunther and Cornelia Goth's graves to lot and let them haunt it.  :)

What a fantastic idea! This is brilliant. I really love the bright colours and.. just... everything! I wonder how the Goths felt when they were kicked out and their home made into a public resort ;)

Wow, Pam!  I am truly honored.  Thank you.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.  As for the Goths, I was careful to put them in a very nice home with much nicer than the original quarters for Morty.  I think it would be way cool once they pass for their graves to go to their ancestral home!  Two more ghosts to haunt the place would be neat.

The idea to do this was originally mine.  It came from Catarina, here.....

Goth Manor Resort problems
« Reply #10 on: August 28, 2013, 03:39:18 PM »
Finally getting around to play testing and found several issues.

Biggest one is the six ghosts that inhabit the graveyard.  Every few minutes ALL the bathroom facilities were breaking and creating a huge mess both from water and the Sims peeing themselves everywhere.  In order to reduce the breakage I removed all the graves to the graveyard.  Yay!  Fewer breaks!  (I have to admit it was cool seeing ALL the ghosts show up one time or another.)

Second issue, my guests were not going to sleep and were passing out in the dining room.  Problem was the cottages were too close to the fences.  I moved the fences to the extreme outer limit of the lot, paved the area around the cottages making sure there were at least two squares of space all around.

Third issue was staff all getting stuck behind the cottages.  They like to hang out there and not do their jobs anyway but they were getting stuck because of pathing issues caused by lack of space.  Moving the cottages as above fixes this issue.

Bonehilda also does not seem to be doing her job.  She gets all excited over how beautiful everything is while puddles get deeper and deeper.  I have only seen her mop up one puddle.  The guests don't seem too fond of her either.  She also did not clean up the trash on the lot.  I'll leave her for now but she is not as effective as I had hoped.

If the bedrooms are designated as VIP rooms the staff seems to not enter them to clean and repair.  Beds remain unmade and facilities are left filthy and/or broken.   I need to check this one out further as I was teleporting my Sim into them to do repairs after she got the message she was not allowed in those rooms.  Getting the staff out from behind the cottages might make a difference.

I will be posting a second version of Goth Manor Resort.  I am going to remove most of the kiddie playground as so far no children at this resort, will remove the graves, add two more VIP bedrooms and possibly change the buffet arrangement and dining area.  Sims seem to be really enjoying the buffet and have plenty of tables but it is a bit crowded making for annoyed Sims.  I'll leave the first link up for those who want to experience the ghosts but the other issues would have to be dealt with by those who download it.  I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Pathing issues are corrected, ghosts removed, yet still I struggled with employees slacking off and having to do the maintenance myself.  I sold the place and became a millionaire.  lol

The newly renovated resort now has a basement gym, which is very, very complete and includes not only the standard exercise equipment but also ballet barrs, a hoops court, and very large swimming pool, several all in one bathrooms, a pool bar and a hot tub.  Everything breakable has been upgraded to unbreakable.

Removing the old gym gave me the opportunity to change the sun room into the buffet complete with quaint, tables for two.  The dining room is more formal.  Restrooms were changed to his and hers with stalls and sinks.  The old kitchen now has a coffee bar with barista.  I made two more vip rooms in what was the attic plus an area for quiet games.  Up above that is a small hangout room that nerds may enjoy.

There are so many things in this build that it is very slow to load.  In real life it's a place you'd want to spend at least a week in as it really has everything you could want to except for horse back riding and surfing.

I would show you pictures but I stupidly erased them before uploading them to the gallery.  The exterior looks pretty much the same as in the old pictures.

You can download it from my studio here:

Can I move a family into it?  And how the game know it's a "resort" and not just a lot?

Yes, you could move a family into it.  Just take the vip off the bedroom doors.  There is a master bedroom suite with attached nursery, a teen room, a blue adult room, a pink girls room and one other adult room.  All are ensuite.  If you want to have a washe/dryer I would suggest putting it in the area by the second floor stairs.  I originally had one there but not necessary for a resort so removed it.

To place this lot in the game you have to have Island Paradise.  Then you need a 60 x 60, or 64x64 lot.  If you put it in Sunset Valley you just need to bulldoze the original Goth Manor then change it from residence to resort and place the resort lot there.  It's what I did.   Making a lot "resort" means the game will recognize any building you put on it as resort as long as there is a resort tower there.
