Transmogrify: Sim wanted to do this!
« on: August 12, 2010, 11:59:11 PM »
Well, I had not had a sim get this option before and I could not find it in the guide, unless I just didn't look hard enough.  I had a sim that needed to sleep and I did not want to take him all the way upstairs to eat, so I found an apple and I clicked on it and the options were "eat" "plant" "transmogrify".  I thought to myself, "excuse me", seeing how that I had never seen that option before.  I know it means to change shape or form, so I clicked on it and it looked like he had a flame fruit in his hand and then he put it away.  I tried it again and a puff of black smoke came from his hand.  I had not seen anyone mention this, so what exactly is it suppose to do.  Only certain people can do this and this sim has no odd traits.  It just caught me off guard is all.

It's one of the hidden firefighter traits.  Offspring of firefighters can not only get the hidden fireproof trait, but this one as well.  I think it's part of the pyromaniac trait.

What does changing shapes have to do with firefighting?  I get what your saying, there is a firefighter in the house, but this sim is not the offspring though.  The offspring of the firefighter, unfortunately got the hidden trait to start a fire, go figure that one.  lol  I am so confused. ::) :-\

Edit:  You're absolutely correct.  I had to look in the family tree.  I had not played this household in a while, but the father was a Fire Chief, but I still don't get the connection with what transmogrify has to do with firefighting, especially changing the shape of lifefruit or apples.  I am missing something somewhere. lol.

Maybe "changing form" is more accurate: from fruit to smoke.

Seems like I remember some discussion about a hidden trait having something to do with changing any fruit into a Flame Fruit, which could reasonably be connected to a firefighter.  Although I don't see this particular hidden trait on the Guide.  Nor do I see it when I search on the Forum.  I think the heat in Texas is scorching my brain.   :o

It's not so much that the fruit is changing shape, it's that it's changing to a flame fruit.  I wanted to check out the hidden firefighter traits back with the vanilla game so I played the man in Riverview whose parent was a firefighter.  George, maybe?  Not sure on the last name.  His father lives in the old men's home.  So anyway, I tested out his offspring and I think that the one who had the pyromaniac trait was the same one who could transmogrify the fruit.  Or maybe George himself can do it, I don't really remember.

Indeed. It's one of my most favorite traits. I personally love blowing stuff up (that's why I sorta love inventing).

Back on topic... Honestly I have actually transmongrified something. I used to have done it often. I haven't done it recently because I don't have a sim that's able to do it. Quite unfortnunate if I say so myself.

I don't see it in the guide, but I remember reading it a long time ago at the Sims wikia under "pyromaniac".

It just suprised me, since I had never ran into it.  Your right about the flame fruit.  This is a better pic. Poor apple, never saw it coming. :D

I am still not quite sure of the reasoning behind changing something into flame fruit. lol   Thanks for the info.  It is kind of interesting though.

From what I get from it, I think Pyromanaic sims can channel heat into something. I guess their body is naturally heated, so when they channel heat through something, it usually either A) lights on fire or B) does exactly what the flame fruti does. This is however just a small theory that I thought up quickly.

It is still pretty neat, since I just found it out, going to see if my sim can do anything else.  Like I said, I had not read it anywhere, so I didn't know what it was.  If I find something else out, will post it.

I'm making a fire fighter sim just so I can get a pyromaniac.
