Why are (my) Sims obsessed with dancing?
« on: August 11, 2013, 05:46:57 PM »
I don't know if it only happens with my sims but they are constantly wanting to turn on the radio and start dancing- even the ones who don't have party animal, virtuoso, or any other traits that could make them want to dance. I'm trying to get my sim to master the inventing skill but after each and every invention they walk away and go straight to the radio!

Sims can be so retarded sometimes.

Yep!  Do lally tap.

Sims often seem to get stuck in a grove, or a least mine do.  Must play in the sprinkler.  Must sing karaoke.  Just have sit in the hot-tub.  etc.  They seem to pick one and then can't get enough of it.  So I remove the object they insist on interacting with until they fixate on something else.

I had one that really loved to dance, but I don't think any of my current sims are too bad about it. One of my sims loves to read though. All the time.

Yup, my sims have their obsessions as well, and dancing is definitely one of them!  I find it the most frustrating when another sim outside of the household visits then spends the entire time interrupting my sim's queue with requests to dance.  ::)

Though nothing has matched my sims addiction to honey.  As soon as it is put in their inventory, they start drinking it.  All of it.  No matter how many bottles, or how overstuffed they are!

I would like to know if Sims can ever slow dance without one of them stepping on the other's toes.

Pam, they definitely can!  I think slow dancing is a hidden skill that might also be influenced by traits.  I've had couples become better dancers, to the point of twirls, whirls, and unstomped toes.  I've also had other sims that seem incapable of learning anything other than the two-mashing two step!

My Sims are obsessed with the dragons in DV. I have to take them away and sell them. Also the laser pointer and the cat. They ignore the poor dog and wear the cat out with the laser.

I had the rock climber in University and I put five of them in the frat house. No one touched them. Then I used it and, what do you know, every Sim in the frat house was all over them from that point on.

So there must be some sort of programming involved.

It definitely is. The exact same thing happens all the time when you tell one of your sims to go to a community lot. Plenty of sims come running, biking and driving there immediately, a minute ago it was completely abandoned and empty. It's supposed to work like that, I'm sure.

My sims are like that when there is a hot tub, waterslide etc. Even in the middle of winter, they are out there.....freezing themselves until I have to bring them inside! :-\

I would say that they respond or interact corresponding to their traits and LTW. Sometimes, they find that those objects are non-interactable, blocked. So each time they show the angry face and stomp on their feet waving their hand. E.g. Sprinklers, my loves the outdoors sim always go to the sprinkler but couldn't play in it as they are blocked by the plants. And my virtuoso and party animal sims always turn on the stereo and began to dance on it.:)
