Question about the "all in one bathroom"
« on: August 10, 2013, 07:25:14 PM »
I built a garden shed to store seeds and produce near my garden at the corner of the lot. I decided to put an "all in one bathroom" in the shed. After my sims used it for the first time, it became their bathroom of choice.

Now they will almost always use the all in one. Even after getting up they will walk past 2 bathrooms and all the way to the corner of the lot to go to the bathroom. This is bad for the teen sims as she has very little time before the school bus comes.

Has anyone else noticed this or are my sims retarded?

I haven't had a chance to use the all in one bathroom yet, so I'm afraid I have nothing useful to contribute to the discussion.  I just wanted to say your post made me laugh!  I love my Sims, but I think they're all a wee bit retarded, to tell the truth.  They all do some very silly things from time to time.  ::)

I wouldn't know, anytime I've ever used it, it was the only bathroom. My fix would be to delete it.

My guess is that they are picking it because it handles both Bladder and Hygenie at the same time - 2 motives handled in one action makes it a better choice, since the method used to chose doesn't take travel time into account.

And yes, all Sims are at least mildly retarded.

It might be because it could have a higher 'advertised' value than the other baths and toilets, which is how the game makes certain objects more appealing to sims than others. You could get a tuning mod for it, although it's possible EA will tune it down with the next patch ready for the next EP. They often seam to make new items have a higher advertise value to start with.

Do you have room to put another one in your main bathroom.  That should stop them going to the one at the end of the garden.  But, knowing the stupid things my sims do when left alone, no guarantees.  The really annoying one for me is: Sim is in kitchen, kids have gone to school and the place is a mess.  She is moaning with disgust.  The maid is due shortly, so I decide there is no point in her doing the cleaning and send her to the lounge, which has the very best sofa and lounge chairs available and loads of decoration elements.  She picks up the book, then walks all the way back to sit and read in the filthy kitchen.  She does this every time!

I agree with Chuckles I think it's the advertisement value on it, I put one in my dynasty greenhouse and the same thing happens, my gardener will go all the way over to the greenhouse at the back of the lot when there are two bathrooms next to her bedroom, two bathrooms on the ground floor and one in the basement, so no shortage of other places to go and they have top range plumbing in most of them, yet still she walks to the greenhouse  ::)

My retarded sims do worse than that. She will past nice all the nice places to read to sit on a park bench in the garden. She will even go there to read when there's rain and thunder. She will put up her umbrella as she leaves the house, put it away before sitting on the bench to read. I've seen real people that dumb, but not since I retired from the military.

A simple way to fix it with the teen is to just give the specific commands for taking a shower and such instead of letting her do it on her own.

This topic is really funny! ;D

Seriously though, I've found that the best way to reduce bathroom issues, is to give all the family members Steel Bladder and Dirt Defiant Lifetime Rewards.

She will even go there to read when there's rain and thunder.

Makes sense: the World's favorite reading place + a place to dirty your pants of the thunder + a place get clean after all the thunder, and it's all in one! This is a late night tv commercial ready to air!

My sims have a beautiful house with a lovely hallway past the bedrooms. If they are in the kitchen/dining area at the back of the house, and are sent to one of the bedrooms (or in one of the bedrooms and are sent to the kitchen/dining area) they go out through the front door, through the side gate and into the kitchen from outside rather than through the perfectly lovely hallway. There doesn't seem to be anything blocking the doors or archways from the hallway into the kitchen/dining area. One thing I have discovered about the all in one bathroom is that if you have your sims woohoo or try for baby in there, you need two spaces between the opening of the 'bathroom' and any other furniture, or else my sims won't go in.
