;D  Thank you.  The doctor is one of my born-in-game children.  He was always one of my favourites.

I lacked the enthusiasm to pick up my volunteer work that day so I gave myself an early mark and headed home.

Something was odd. Scott's car was in the driveway. I wondered if he had been taken ill and my heart leapt to my mouth. I hurried up the drive but stopped short. Through the big picture window I saw my beloved husband and my neighbour and there was no doubting that they were getting along just fine.

I was numb, stunned, but not totally surprised.  Somehow my feet carried me to the door. I was operating on auto pilot. Too late to run away.

By the time I entered the house they had sprung apart and were sitting in separate chairs as innocent as you please and feigning a casual conversation.

I had no heart to endure their charade so excused myself and hurried to my room. What to do? Outwardly I was calm but inside I raged. My Gallic blood cried for vengeance and histrionics. I wanted to rip out her hair, scratch her pretty face, punch her, kick her, howl from the pit of my stomach.

Instead I planned.

 :D

A few nights ago, Scott and I had hosted a dinner party at our house and Honey had been amongst the guests.

I had not anticipated the party with any relish. I was never comfortable with strangers and our guests were mostly business associates of Scott's.

'I know you won't disappoint me,' Scott had smiled as he said it but the smile didn't quite reach his eyes.

The dinner party was obviously important to him but now he had made me really nervous.

I enjoyed the cooking and the preparation. I spent hours choosing the dishes and then shopping for the best ingredients. With saucepans bubbling and a delicious aroma pervading the house, I set the table with Scott's finest china.

If only I could have melted into the background then I would have been happy.

The guests arrived - important looking men with loud voices and braying laughter and elegant wives who air-kissed each other, and Honey, stunningly beautiful as usual.

I wondered why she had been invited but, in truth, she was a godsend. Honey was like Scott, she talked easily and often. Effortlessly, she engaged everyone in bright and breezy chatter and charmed even the grumpy Mayor.

'Hmmm. This is good,' she licked her lips enthusiastically as she finished off the last crumb from her plate before turning to giggle coquettishly at another diner's jokes.

I liked it that someone praised my food even if it was her. I watched her during the meal. I may as well because everyone else was. I saw how her eyes lit up when I served the angel food cake and how clean her plate was when she finished.

So, my plan took shape.  I knew the way to win back Scott's heart.

I wonder as well, but I have to admit I was rather hoping she was making plans to kick Scott to the curb.

I sort of thought that too but I changed my mind.  Mielle doesn't seem the type who would give up at the first hurdle.  You go girl!

Thank you for your comments.  We will see...

The next day, when I spotted Honey out on her deck I called her over.

'I made some petit fours and I can not eat them all. Will you help me out?'

She was only too happy. She and I pigged into them followed by some caramel cheesecake with cherry topping.

Another day, I offered her some fresh-baked key lime pie.

'I wanted to try out the recipe but I have made too much.'

We followed that up with some butter scones topped with clotted cream and strawberry jam. When she groaned that she couldn't eat another thing, I packed her a container to take with her for that evening. I slipped in three quarters of a treacle tart.

I knew she went to the gym on Saturdays but I had managed to procure some tickets to a show at the theatre.

'Scott has to work and I don't want the tickets to go to waste.'

We called in at the restaurant afterwards and had coffee and cake over a wonderful chat.

I would scan my recipe books the night before searching for something different but tasty, wake early and cook something scrumptious to share with Honey over tea and talk the next morning.

So my plan was put in motion.

Hm I'm not sure I would call it the first lol. Strike one was forcing her into activities that would make him look better, strike two was being completely unsupportive of her culinary dreams, and strike three was immediately looking at her for fault when they couldn't conceive. I won't fault him just yet about the Honey thing, because there is no evidence to that. That being said, I do understand what you mean about Mielle's character though, and it's good to see her fighting back in her own way.

At first I thought she had a mind of poisoning Honey. x) But now the evidence points strongly towards trying to fatten her up.  :P

;D  You are all too smart but I do have a surprise up my sleeve yet.

The weeks turned into months. I began to think those long tanned legs of her's must be hollow... but then one day I noticed that she looked ever so slightly rounder.

as time slipped by and the cakes and delicacies kept popping out of my oven and into Honey's mouth, she was definitely filling out (overflowing) that bikini quite a bit more.

Yes!!!!

So I had won.

Scott was mine again. I knew him well enough to guess he would lose interest in her less than perfect body and I knew it was safe for me to eat along with her because nothing ever stuck to my frame.

It was confirmed for me when I saw that he no longer stole glimpses of her sunning herself on her deck. His eyes did not light up when her name was mentioned. He barely acknowledged her presence in our house when she visited except to complain to me later that she never seemed to stay at her own home.

Um, Mielle? Sweetie? I don't think that's exactly body fat there . . . (It'll still chase off Scott, though, methinks.)

Also, I just remembered the other day that miel is French for honey (being Canadian, I know "cereal-box French"), so I have THEORIES. But I'll keep them to myself for now.  :-X

I think Honey is definitely fatter.  You can see it in her face.  As for the other, only time will tell.  ;)  Honestly Figwit - months - I look at a candy bar and I gain 10 pounds!  Eating all that sugary food, Honey should look like Judy Bunch by the end of the first month.   ::)
