Question on Babies to Toddlers Next stage and Butler No Help
« on: August 08, 2013, 10:56:10 PM »
I tried searching forums but got so many hits and the one that I read that was in 2011 said it takes only 3 days.  I think I'm going on 3 WEEKS; 3 long boring weeks.  My Sim can't do anything much as she has to do the lion share of taking care of the baby even though I have a butler.  She only takes care of the feeding and dirty diaper (if she's not fast asleep) but not the social.  The social is the one that goes 3x as fast down so the butler is not much help.

The baby just appeared and I haven't touched the settings; is that why she doesn't age.  I tried throwing a birthday party but only the grown sims could blow out the candles, not the baby (which makes sense).  I accidentally aged my sim's boyfriend so I had to exit without saving as I surely do not want a May/Dec. romance!

Any advice - I'm going to keep the butler because I have over $2M in Simoleons thanks to the too many money trees I have.  I've also got like 5 unplanted seeds as my Sim already spend the entire day gardening.

Also why does the game give me so many of the same Sim celeb items.  I have like 5 cars, 5 foosball tables, 4 hot tubs, 2 Sim fantasy glasses and about 3 plasma tvs. Not to mention the countless plants and art pieces (I no longer keep any art piece below $1K)  I mean seriously it's overdoing it.  Where were they when we were down and broke with the cheapest furnishings!!

Maybe you have a setting that age is off, or really long - you can change how long each life stage is for your sims. Go look in your options tab. Also, I'm not sure why the birthday cake didn't work for you - usually the baby is an option when I click it and the mother or father brings the baby to the cake. Another option for manually aging the baby up would be to use a cheat. I can tell you what that is, but you'll need to fix your options anyway.

Thank you  - I did look at the Simology later on and it shows 26 days to aging, which is the toddler stage.  I couldn't figure out the options on aging the baby so I'll do it later on.

For me to play the game, I have to reboot my computer to ensure nothing else is running in the bkground and then it takes at least 15 minutes for my game to load.  So it's a hassle to go back and fro.

I appreciate your taking the time to answer my question.  Mahalo!

Welcome to our Forum.

Sims (even babies) get an aging glitch.  Starting on the day after the baby is born, you normally see the green progress bar on the Simology tab.  On the normal lifetime setting, babies age to toddlers in three days.  But if that green bar isn't showing, then your baby is glitched.  Since the birthday cake didn't work, you can try using testing cheats to age up the baby.  With testing cheats enabled, shift-click on the baby and choose Trigger Age Transition.  To turn on testing cheats, press Ctrl-Alt-C and type "testingcheatsenabled true" without the quote marks.  When you're done, repeat the process and replace the word "true" with "false" to turn them back off.

As for the celebrity items, only certain things are designated in the game to be given as gifts to celebrities.  The more celebrity stars your Sim has, the more expensive the items will be.

Thanks Pam for the cheating code, I will have to try it as it's getting boring taking care of the baby.  Thanks also for the info on the celebrity gifts; wish I could gift them to other Sims to push up the friendship moods like in Sims2

I think maybe you can gift them.  When you click on a Sim and select Friendly interactions, Give Gift should show up.  As far as I know, the gifts available to give include items in the family inventory, which is where the celebrity gifts are located.
