Traits for new sims to household.

I generally have them do something I'd like playing and later get the midlife crisis LTR to fill the missing trait.  If necessary the change the lifetime wish LTR as well; after getting the basic LTR's.

Then again dropped trait is not a big deal, since they generally help with learning a skill, but any sim can learn any skill anyway.  But if they have the Snob trait I definitely let them have a mid-life crisis.

Right. What I do is cheat to change the traits, than after I get the LTW I want, I change them back.

Agreed Esther, everyone should just enjoy the game the way they want to, its just a game after all.  Everyone's definition of cheating is different, but you're not cheating anyone, and not gaining anything material.  Anyway.

I do prefer to earn the LTH points and buy the mid life crisis and new wishes.  Oh and vegetarians are to hard to manage in the game, so i change them as well.

I just leave everything alone and play the simmie as is.  It somethimes makes for very challenging play.  Occasionally I even get in the mood to just hit the dice and play the first trait that comes up when a simmie is born or ages up.  
Occasionally I have a sim that I just can't stand because of the combination of their traits in relationship to the rest of the family.  I usually just leave them to do their own thing - sometimes getting some very funny results.  
Sorry, I just can't bring myself to killing them off  , but I can always evict them if I really, really can't stand them!

OK ... News Update.  Regan Trotter is indestructible! 
So being walled up didn't work ... he died that way 3 times [twice walled up and once in a new 'garden cage'], so we tried putting him in a small swimming pool with a fence close round it [once he was in].  He died there on 2 more occasions!!   
Each time Grim Reaper came calling, we got the same message ... "Regan, your constant misfortune amuses me and those around you.  It would be a shame to take that priceless entertainment from them.  I'll take you some other time."  And Regan was restored to life. 
Regan has the "Unlucky" trait?  Being let off 5 times by The Reaper sounds more like a "VERY Lucky" trait!!
We gave up ... Olga used the "Mean"/"Break Up" option, and Regan disappeared into the sunset. 

It was interesting to see that Regan spent nearly all his walled-up time calling people on his cellphone for a chat!

@ mtglady ... we wanted to keep filling the Trotter Family Plot at the graveyard.  We failed.

@ Endscene and Esther1981 ... nothing to do with Regan being gay, more with him being an imminent Elder.  Also we don't like spoiling other Sims' existing relationships.  The confused morality between that and our willingness to kill Regan is acknowledged!

Yes, she doesn't really miss Regan at all. 
She's now in the process of getting together with her best friend from High School and they seem to be getting on fine.  We put him in the Body Sculptor to get rid of about 100lb of surplus weight ... for some reason most Sims in that 'Hood are severely oversized!!

For those who care, Olga has just married .... Antwan?! 
He's already slimmed down, he'll get his hair cut and get some decent clothes ... and a JOB ... and possibly a new name from City Hall.
He was supposed to be "rich" His family has 13k, he's married into a family with 2m 
He brought just over 2k to the household ... Mom paints more than that value in 2 hours!!
It took 2 Sim days to get him to the house for the "heavy' treatment.  He kept saying "I'll be there in a little while" and kept not turning up!!  What?  Eventually he admitted "Call again in 4 hours", so we have no idea what his other excuses for ignoring Olga's invitations were.

We wonder whatever happened to ... ummmm ... oh, yes, "Lucky" Regan.

OMG this has been one of the funniest threads to read in a long time.  Between gay/not gay, and never dieing for real I just couldn't stop laughing.  So glad Olga is happy at last but you know, even elders can whoo hoo and try for baby.  It is a bit disconcerting at first to know your spouse is going to age up in a couple of days but then, there is life fruit!  I took a different route when I wound up with an elder.  I had my child.  Let him die gracefully of old age, and married someone else as soon as I could!  That relationship led to more children and a happily ever after family legacy.  Her second husband was her true love and they died within a very short time, less than a full Sim day, of each other.  So sweet and sad.  The bad news was the ghost of her first husband was a royal pita who constantly harassed the family and refused to be made friends with by anyone related to her.
