Elizabeth planned another double date the next night--she really is into social events. She decided that everyone would go to the Port-a-Party Warehouse, the biggest hotspot in town. Katherine and Bronson didn't see much of the club besides the front seating area.
Edward finally dragged them up to hear Elizabeth's DJ-ing up on the second floor.
As always, Sofia and Lars were enjoying the empty house.
Sofia was just drifting off to sleep when she heard a muffled sigh from the other side of the bed, and turned her head to see Lars being consumed by golden light.
Hearing her mother crying, Elizabeth hurried up the stairs into the bedroom, only to find that the day all had dreaded was here, much too soon.
Rest in Peace, Lars Royal Vanderburg. Formerly the most unappreciated sim in Lunar Lakes.
Two members of the household departed that night. Alexander didn't die, but moved out: he no longer needed to provide the tombstone, and had tutored Sofia up to honor roll in both elementary and high school. His work here was done.
In the morning, all of the teenagers went about their business. Sofia had been offered a free two-day vacation, and had wanted to stay home, but Katherine convinced her to go: keeping busy would be the best thing for her grief. Still, a shadow hung over the house, so that everything reminded its occupants of the death that was imminent.
Elizabeth decided to use the opportunity as a learning experience: chances were that she would freeze her age and live forever, but Edward would probably die off (tough love).
Besides, she mused, she did have the best job in the book. Literally, her task was to pillow fight with NPC's all day.
She decided to throw a little get-together, just her, Edward, Katherine, and a couple teenagers from school. Naturally, the two power couples somehow ended up slow-dancing the entire evening.
Katherine appeared to be the least affected in the house, but in reality she was in turmoil. Last night, she had her first real peek into what it meant to be heir. Perhaps she would live forever, but it was more likely that she would die to supply a tombstone for her son or daughter. Or, the worse option, she'd live forever while Bronson died.
Someone called the police on the party, which seemed a little melodramatic, but they had already established a plan for this eventuality. Katherine quickly repaired all of the broken appliances.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth cooked hot dogs in the microwave while Edward cleaned up all of the scorch marks on the floor (don't ask).
Thus, when the officers arrived, they found nothing more than a few obedient students quietly eating dinner. They did inquire about the puddle on the floor, but Elizabeth cleared that up by explaining that Edward had an "accident."
"Katherine, this seems like a
really bad idea."
"Shh, I'm trying to remember how to do this."
Katherine, Elizabeth, and Edward experienced synchronized dreaming that night, perhaps from all of the trauma and stress from the past few days.
Needless to say, they were quite alarmed to find Sofia home from vacation, questioning the paparazzi outside the house about the events of her absence. The mother just sighed and shook her head at her children's antics.
This is what I get for having two girls, she mused.
Well, at least they know how to evade arrest. In the end, she decided not to ground them, so the two couples took a trip to the Spring Festival. The Love Inspector practically fainted when Katherine and Bronson tried it out--out of surprise, mind you, not horror.
It told Edward and Elizabeth to get a room, which the teens were excited about but Sofia was quite opposed to.
