Cuteness and a Mid-Life Crisis
« Reply #30 on: August 01, 2013, 12:40:19 AM »
Every adult immediately pitched in to take care of the children, and teach the girls all of their toddler skills.

Actually, that's a bald-faced lie: they were dragged into the nursery and unwillingly put to work.

Not that the girls did anything to warrant such treatment! The grown-ups are just lazy. No, Katherine and Elizabeth are both adorable toddlers. Katherine is a sweet, polite (if there is such a thing) toddler; Elizabeth is loud and vivacious.

To be fair, two crying toddlers and a screaming baby are enough make even the best parent blanch. Thus, the entire household breathed out in a relieved sigh on Edward's toddler birthday--then gasped in horror as they realized there would be another toddler to be trained.

But even Lars had to admit that Edward was a little cutie.

Alexander got started on training Edward to be a good dynasty spare right away, much to Patricia's chagrin. She would have preferred that Edward had a normal childhood, but no, Alexander just had to go ahead and do whatever he wanted! He is just so controlling, and pigheaded, and unthinking! This is why there was a divorce, and Patricia was so unhappy when they were married, yada yada yada, et cetera.

Upstairs, Lars was going about his usual business. Isn't it strange that the household member most afraid of children spends the most time around them? Of course, Elizabeth's sweet smile could melt the heart of any terrified father.

In fact, so neglected was he by the rest of the family, he aged up to elder in the middle of the night, surrounded by maids, repairmen--oh, and his wife. "Oh my gosh, Lars, it's your birth--I mean, Happy Birthday! I knew that!"

Oh, well. At least he's a nice-looking elder. I've seen some bulbous noses in my day, but this one takes the cake!

Sofia also celebrated her birthday that night, but all she got was a few new wrinkles and a Mid-Life Crisis.

She's able to keep her restless emotions under control--for now, at least. This is where Lars' good-looking-ness comes into play.

It helps that the maid and repairwoman are flirting it up downstairs. There is something seriously cute about that! But all Sofia saw was how seriously cute the maid was . . .

Author's Note: This is seriously the most absolutely downright beautiful NPC (or non-player sim, for that matter) I have ever seen! Just look at her!

To me, the maid looks like a photoshopped Bianca Crumplebottom.

She does, now that I think about it . . . maybe it's just the hair.

Lunar Lakes Bonuses

Sofia became . . . restless. She started a little fling with the repairman.

  Then the maid.

Sadly for the Vanderburg family, the fling that began as harmless flirting turned into something just a little bit more.

Fortunately, Lars remained completely oblivious. He was all wrapped up in a world of cuteness, rainbows, and unicorns. Apparently having two female toddlers will suck away all of your manhood.

Patricia's parenting style is much less . . . involved.

Meanwhile, a little more love leaked into the household, through Alexander Cross. He decided to take advantage of his recent divorce to begin a relationship with Amira Grace.

Well, at least they're happy together, even if Amira does seem a tad young for him. Were those chimes I heard?

Sofia decided to change up her hairstyle to clear up those last Mid-Life Crisis impulses, and reconciled with Lars--who had no idea that they were reconciling because he was unaware of any cause for reconciliation.

Has anyone else noticed that the skating rink in Lunar Lakes is way bigger than any other rink in any other town? You can fit four spinning couples in there!

The skating rink is a nice bonus, but the rest of Lunar Lakes is pretty cool, too. Especially at night, because all of the crystals light up.

See this cute little man? His name is Bronson James, and he is the #1 target for Katherine's spouse. For those unfamiliar with Lunar Lakes, Phillip and Mia James are expecting a baby at the beginning of the game, and the kid is usually a boy and always cute.

Speaking of babies, look at this! Alejandro Grace! Alexander is the proud (if elderly) papa.

"Sofia, why do I have to age them both up?"

"Well, sweetie, everyone else has a job!"

"I have a job, too! I told you--I'm going to be a sports star!"

  "That's nice, dear."

Did Sophia have a moment of indiscretion, or is this to be expected anytime she's bored?

Adorableness

My sincerest apologies to my lovely readers, because I'm at the point in the game where both of the twins are young adults, and you don't even know what they look like as children! Well, that shall change very soon.

Katherine, the heir, remained a pretty little girly-girl. This was actually the first time I got to use that hairstyle, which was very exciting! Right now, you can see that she's starting to develop Sofia's eyes.

Elizabeth, on the other hand, is a firecracker. It was at this point that I decided to completely ignore her favorite color, brown, which I have never regretted.

Katherine spent the rest of the party hanging out with her future spouse, Bronson James.

Then I discovered the cutest thing ever: kids can do Shaka Bra! And their little high-pitched voices . . . seriously, try it.

Naturally, Bronson was extremely embarrassed when his dad started talking to his future girlfriend. Which is also pretty darn adorable.

The three children spent the remainder of the party playing tag in the middle of the hailstorm, which just goes to show that children can and will play tag at any opportunity.

Patricia decided to move out at this time: she was no longer needed for anything and was fed up with being forced to befriend NPC's. Alexander or Lars would be used for the gravestone, and Alexander would tutor Katherine so she could easily make the Honor Roll.

The next morning, Edward was aged up--again, by Lars.

  "I told you! I have a job!"

"That's nice, dear. Don't forget to visit the laundromat 'after work.'"

Edward turned out to be a handsome young lad, and (SPOILER) he certainly doesn't fail to disappoint once he's older.

However, since he is a nerd, he must be dressed like a nerd. For the record, this was the first time I was able to use the goofy clothes that came with Seasons--because Edward is a nerd, and thus must dress like a nerd.

That morning, Elizabeth and Katherine went to school for the first time, with the weird Lunar Lakes light making their eyes all glowy. Somehow, Elizabeth was sent to detention within ten seconds of arriving at the building.

After school, Edward did first Elizabeth's homework, then Katherine's. Because when you're an insecure little nerdy boy in a wizard's hat and the pretty girl who happens to live with you asks you to do her homework, you do it.

In the evening, it was time to dress up! Elizabeth was a Pouncing Pink T-Rex.

Katherine was a Lovely Lavender Princess. Oh--and Edward played pretend, too, as something lame that no one really cares about. Because that's the way the world works.

The happy family then played hopscotch.

Ooh, here's a fun game! Guess who is who, based on the dream bubbles.

Castle is princess, therefore Katherine.  Nessie is monster-ish and nerd-esque, therefore Edward.  The moon is Elizabeth as she craves the night life (party girl).

Counter-Prediction: Edward is castle, because wizards live in castles. Katherine is the moon, because she comes after Sofia and the moon comes after the sun. (Sofia is the metaphorical sun, in this case) Elizabeth is Nessie because Nessie is the cousin of a dinosaur.

Erm.... Moon = Edward, Castle = Katherine, Loch Ness Monster = Elizabeth. There's no reasoning behind it; it's just the arbitrary order I would have put their beds in.
I'm not pedantic! I just believe in precision of language.

Dang, those are some good-looking kids. Please tell me that Edward eventually gets a job pollinating Lunar Lakes. He must!

I actually like working with brown, but Elizabeth's wardrobe still looks good.

You got it! The reasoning is: Moon = Astronomy/Nerd, Castle = Princess, Loch Ness Monster = Dinosaur = Elizabeth.

Ooh, believe me--he makes me wish that Patricia is automatically pregnant at the start of the game.

I can usually use brown, and I was planning to, but that top was so perfect for her that I lost it.

Inspiration (Lack Thereof)
« Reply #43 on: August 07, 2013, 12:21:11 AM »
Since Amira Grace is now too old to reproduce, Alexander dumped her via text and has entered an entirely inappropriate relationship with newly legal Christa Landgraab, who could pass as his granddaughter.

  But hey--at least they're happy.

"Ewww!" Katherine squealed. "Do you see that?"

"Oh, you mean the entirely inappropriate relationship my father has entered with the newly legal Christa Landgraab, who could pass as his granddaughter? Uh-huh. What did you get for Number 3?"

Edward wasn't particularly excited or angry when he learned that he would soon have a little brother (that is, besides the little brother that he already has, Alejandro Grace). He's a passive child.

Every night Katherine plays with her family, but she takes a special interest in the Blocks table that the other children shun. She loves to build strange and fantastic shapes, balancing rectangles on the edge of triangles and quickly repositioning shapes when the tower seems about to topple.

Her parents are less intellectual when it comes to their evening pursuits.

As a special treat (Katherine walked in on her parents and experienced permanent emotional scarring), the girls got to throw a slumber party! They were allowed to invite over all of their friends, the majority of whom turned out to be NPC's, and order pizza.

Bronson came, of course. He and Katherine are best friends.

By morning, autumn had officially come and the temperature was cold enough that Alexander got up every morning to transform into a human popsicle. Winter and snow were immediately disabled, but apparently autumn is cold enough all by itself.

Or perhaps it's just that Christa was seen flirting with a Christopher Steel look-a-like. Baaaaad Christa.

The family took an outing to the Fall Festival in celebration of the new season. Lars, Elizabeth, Edward, and First Name Mosqueda competed in the Pie-Eating Contest.

Katherine spent the day playing tag with Potential Spouse #2, Carlos Mosqueda. We're going for Bronson, but it's nice to have a backup.

  He's certainly nice-looking, but somehow reminds me of snakes . . . and monkeys . . .

While Lars and Elizabeth cleaned up, the other three sunbathed down at the Oasis Shoreline.

The family came home after a long and exciting day, prepared for relaxation and perhaps a board game, to find Christa going into labor. Alexander was dragged out of bed, given a coat, and thrown into his car to drive his girlfriend to the hospital.

Welcome to the world, Lawrence Landgraab! It's obvious that he won't be the last Landgraab baby, since the house is absolutely gorgeous and I want every chance I can get at it.

That may be enough for Alexander, but it certainly doesn't meet the needs of the Vanderburg DecaDynasty. He ended up meeting his best friend, Gretel Sekemoto, at the park.

Roderick Sekemoto, a vampire, was born roughly three days later.

He had to hurry home for the twins' midnight birthday party.

At this point, it became obvious that Katherine would grow up to be a clone of Sofia. All the same, she is quite a lovely young lady.

I had no end of lack of inspiration for her teenage wardrobe, which ended up being some sort of boring, sensible jacket-skirt getup with that cute ponytail from Generations.

Elizabeth, on the other hand--ooh, Elizabeth. She is similar enough to Katherine that they're obviously sisters, but at the same time she is just so unique! I half-wish that she had been born heir, but at the same time she wouldn't be nearly as epic without the personality that comes from being friend-making spare.

Her wardrobe had no end of inspiration. It took less than three minutes to throw everything together and deem it perfect for her.

She immediately began her own blog, Heir or Spare, so she could master the Social Networking skill. I judge that to be the absolute most useful skill for every dynasty except for Life States, since it makes best friends instantly.

Haha!  Love this update!  I think my favorite part was Edward echoing the narration.  Of course, the nice blog name "Heir or Spare" was rather clever as well.  Thanks for being kind enough to create this so we don't miss the Elysi's too much  :=)
