I too scatter my collections all over their home and vacation homes.
And Twinmum, I would keep a close eye on your collection and your gnomes - it looks to me like they are casing the joint  :-\.  Maybe that is what they do when they disappear:  take a gem (or gems) and run!  :)

Pielord, is that a skull cut on the small display table? I tried to put one of each cut on that thing and when it came to putting the skull there it wouldn't fit, so I decided to add an uncut gem to that display and have some of the large cases for the skulls.

I think it's because you use more than one skull cut gem on a small display, I only have 1 per display section. I like the idea of adding a raw example of the gem and keeping all the skull cuts together though. Sounds like it will look really great! I also want to make a sort of sanctuary for tiberium skulls and spires.

I've been keeping my gems all organized by cut and color inside a chest, but these pictures make me realize how much I've been missing out on by not spreading it all out to see in all its dragonny glory.

Amazing you guys!  But.....what's the point?  Seriously.  Is there a reason for hanging on to all that stuff other than aesthetics and a serious urge to hoard?  (Some people have dragon blood in their ancestry for sure!)  Well, whatever the reason I love seeing all those goodies and am amazed at the amount of time and work it took to get all those things.  As for me, manual uninstall without remembering to save has done me in.  Sigh.

A lot of people are just collectors by nature.  It makes them happy to find everything in a collection.  Also, when complete collections are displayed, Sims in the same room get a positive moodlet from it.  It's only for things like the Canopic Jars Collection or the Dangerous Creatures Collection, not from gems or metals (as far as I know).

Hmmm.  By nature eh? Sigh.  So that means the 500 pounds of rock samples I dragged from the east coast to the west coast kind of puts me in that category?  Not to mention several boxes of shells?  Ok, I guess I get it. lol

I think when you move from one coast to another, you're not supposed to bring the coast with you!

One of the movers who moved us asked, "What do you have in here?  Rocks?".  I didn't have the guts to say, "yeah".  lol  I'm glad I did though because my grand and great-grandkids have had a good time sorting through them and looking up what each mineral etc. is.  Even used some for school projects.  Ditto with the shells.  Gotta love the Gulf Coast of Florida for that!

I can relate, Joria.  :D When me and my mom moved in with my step father, he couldn't belive how many rocks and shells we had collected over the years. They're in a box in the shop somewhere now... ??? I'm not going out there to look for 'em, there's probably quite a few critters out there that have homes in there...

I really like your trophy room! Also, the way you use those wall lights inspires me to try it out with my heart shape cuts, would look great.

How did you make that little symbol by your personal message button? It's a link to your blog "character legacy". Can everyone make things like that?
