Building a resort in Edit Town

I'm having trouble building a resort like I normally build houses in Edit Town. It seems I have to be in Live Mode and use my Sim's actual money to build a resort?

Any ideas?

I don't think you can get around this. Certain functions in resorts are supposed to be done in live - like the setup for the buffet tablet, the crew, manning the desk, upgrading the towers, maintaining the pools etc. I think it was the idea of the game to be a resort owner, and yes, then you have to use you own money, or to just use the existing resorts as a visitor for vacation.

I spent all morning playing around with it and realised that I couldn't build a resort in edit town because I was trying to build on a lot my Sim already owned as a resort. To build one you have to build on a new lot that isn't owned by a Sim. Uh-huh!

Although yes, it still has the problems of not being able to set things up as you'd like. I'll have to play it in live mode for a bit before saving and exporting.
