Seasons crashing glitch
« on: July 19, 2013, 11:35:28 AM »
A while back I had an issue where after I built anything in my game and afterwards try to save my game would freeze and crash. I found out it was something to do with Seasons, so I uninstalled it. Despite that I rather liked Seasons but I'm worried if its still an issue, and I'm a bit uncertain about reinstalling it only to encounter the same problem and effectively lose hours of game time or a saved game.

So I guess my question is does anyone have that issue or had it and no longer is affected by it? I knew it was still a problem for me after University Life came out but before Islands Paradise. If no one has an answer I'll just take the risk.  :)

Try to build a house by going to Edit Town and then going to an empty lot.

I had a similar problem where my game would almost always crash after using Buy or Build Modes, or Edit Town.  I didn't have Seasons installed, so that had nothing to do with my problem.  I did a factory reset and reinstalled all my store content, and that has solved the problem for me.

I've had this happen once, after IP. Since then I'm using the Edit Town workaround when building and I haven't had it again.

I'm not certain, but I think this issue might be the thing with puddles after it rains.  Another member said there is a cheat to remove the puddles called "removepuddles".  I haven't tried it myself, but it would be worth a try.

Edit:  Ok, that isn't the right name of the cheat and I can't find the post where I saw it!  I'll post again if/when I can find it.

I found a temporary(I think) fix for any crash...mine crashed after going in CAS and then going to Edit Town and after building a house from Edit Town.I disconnected from the internet while playing and my game did not crash after building a house!

Sorry, taken me a bit real life slammed me pretty hard. I did a uninstall and reinstall everything, not sure if that's a factory reset? But I'll reinstall Seasons and if/when it happens I'll try the internet thing and building in edit town. And Pam, if you do find it I'd be much obliged.  :D I'll put my meager google skills to use as well. Thank you for all the replies!

I think you must have one of MATY's mods installed before you can use that cheat, "Removeallpuddles". :(

The cheat is "removeallpuddles" and it was mentioned by Grimsoul here.  That post doesn't mention anything about mods being necessary to use the cheat.

I have tried it several times, with and without testingcheats enabled, in live mode and in edit town, and nothing of it works. It just says: "Unknown command", or something similar. I also read about it on MATY's site, among other cheats that I've never seen before in this game. That's why I think it's part of that particular mod from MATY. Have you or Grimsoul tried it yourselves and made it work?

Hi, I read in one of the other treads that you can just switch off the rain so there are no puddles when building. This should also fix your problem.

Hope this helps

This happens supposedly when there is some "wheather" - snow or rain. Literally each time I tried to build o a terrain that was snow-covered, it crashed in saving. It looks as if the game cannot process the conflicting data when a part of a lot that had been outside and snow-covered now should be inside and snow-free.
Therefore I grew a habit to build only in summer.
