Turn off cell phone...

You can silence the ringer on the phone but it doesn't turn it off.

I am aware one can silence the ringer but I want to know if you can turn the whole thing off so the notes or whatever won't come out of her/his pocket. That is very annoying when one is trying to write a novel or whatever.

I am not aware of any way to turn off the phone, only silence it.

You can turn off opportunities on the Options menu.  A lot of opportunities come through the phone, so that would at least reduce the number of calls.
