Is it ok if the original Sim you create dies or moves out?

Seems fine to me. You're not breaking any rules by doing so.

Pets can extend someone's life and they are allowed. What do we do if that happens?

How exactly does one know if their life was extended by a pet?

In some cases a pet can stop grim from taking a Sims life. The option to beg for Sims life will come up in the animals action queue. It is possible to click and delete the queued action if you notice it. I can't recall if the Sim gets brought back to the beginning of the elder stage or not.

The sim in question doesn't get brought back to the beginning of the elder life stage.

Then Pets to me are a method of life extension and need to be lumped into the other things that are already banned. If any of you have started and have pets get rid of them. If you have used this trick, then start your file over since this is a late changing rule.

That would take quiet some of the fun out of the challenge.
People could really just click it away if it should happen, or immediately move out the sim if it gets resurrected, or even delete that particulary sim totally in that case.
Else it should just be a part of the strategy if you want to risk having a pet that extends the life of a dying sim, and there by ends you challenge right there, or you rather play save without the pets.

That's my thoughts at least.

Well, Lena I guess you are correct. The original question was what do we do if a pet extends someone's life and I guess the answer is — game over and submit your score. Okay, I'll reverse my ruling and allow pets. Sorry for the confusion everyone. This is the kind of stuff that needs to be ironed out before kickoff guys and not after a challenge starts. Hehe.

No name changing.

Does this mean we can't marry any sims who want to?

I'm pretty sure (not 100% though) you can marry any sims you want to, just no name changing the first name (city hall).   I don't think last name going to matter, but rules are rules, last name changing is still name changing  ;D

I don't think the rule about the name change has anything to do about the last name at all.
So as I understood it we can easily marry who we want just not change the first names, so we cant use the strategy we did the last time.
But maybe we need to have metros idear of this, if its counting for both first and last name.

If I recall the name changing thing was Rica's idea to avoid something. I do not remember the specifics why she thought it was a good idea, but the rule is there so you simply do not go to City Hall and change a name. First name. Last name. Whatever. Hehe.

I believe it's so you cannot divorce and marry the same Sim with a different name over and over - 5k LTHP a pop!
