Just to be sure, will that new rule mean, that we cant buy the banana from the store and then plant it? Banana just used as an example.

That would be my interpretation although the plants you buy don't register until you actually plant them.

The shell percentages seem odd. In my practice game, I have 6 of the 8 shells available, but 57 percent rather than 75 percent.

I think judging by own practice, although don't trust me too much as my maths is awful  , that things do not have a fixed % per item but it varies, maybe depending on the rarity value of the object, don't quote me on that though 

Also for my practice I kind of worked on the assumption plants should be from found sources only as it's a collecting challenge, glad that was the right way or I'd be kicking myself now.

I've just checked the Collection Stats in my game and I only have 6 (Gems, Metals, Rocks, Butterflies, Beetles, Mushrooms). Is this because I don't have the latest expansions? I have all expansions up to and including Seasons but none since then.

Will this mean that I can't participate in this challenge?

No. Your score will simply be lower since you will not be able to collect all items. Just post those ones that you were able to collect.

Fishing and Gardening skill challenges do not add to the multiplier. Only Collecting Skill ones do.

Nothing that would impact your score basically.

I've been really busy with work. Nonetheless, this one's pretty short - and it's probably my first time submitting the chronologically 1st score of an event.

Did reasonably well, I think, for not having Island Paradise.

Concerning percents acting up.. I just had it happen.  I had all the fireflies but one type as well as the plasma bug but after going to China neither are registering in the collections tab.  They are still in my inventory just the collections tab thing is showing them as greyed out, not collected.  So my tab reads for instance, Fireflies Collected - 20 ..  Unique Fireflies Found - 0%.   Not sure how to approach it.. so far it's just the fireflies and Plasma bug.  I am going to try and make it up in the last couple days my sim has.  I would definitely suggest either making sure you have met the 100% for fireflies before traveling or wait to do them after all your traveling is over.
