Corrupt Saves
« on: July 16, 2013, 12:47:08 AM »
Every save I have gets corrupted before my first made sims can even die of old age.
Every. Single. One.
I finally reached level 8 of my singer career, and bam, corrupted save. :(
What can be doing this? It really sucks losing hours and hours of gameplay because my saves keep corrupting.

Do you have any third party custom content or mods? Do you get any error messages while saving, like error 12, 16 or something like that? The error code could help find out what's going on with your game.

Yes, I have tons of custom content. But when corrupted saves first started happening, I didn't have anything, it was just the base game and some expansions, and I always have different cc installed when the save corrupts.

I've since re-installed the Sims 3 and the expansions several times over, but I still get the problem. I use The Sims 3 Crash Log Analyzer to determine the problem, which is corrupt saves. The custom content I have now is all fully updated, and either from nraas or thesimsresource.

I occasionally get error 16 when saving, but it usually only happens once then I'm fine to save again and continue on. Could that be an indicator of a corrupt save? :(

Are you deleting the corrupt saves from the game?  If you leave a file with "bad" in the extension in the saves folder, it will spread and corrupt other saves.

I was thinking more of error12 actually. That one usually corrupts saves, and it's hardware related.

If you still get corrupt files after deleting the .bad files, you should try running the game without custom content and see what happens. To do that, open the launcher, then go to the Installed Content tab and uncheck the little square that says "Run the game without custom content" or something like that. Even if your CC is updated, you could have a bad item in there that's causing the trouble.

Good luck  :)
