Mermaid scale issue
« on: July 15, 2013, 02:16:48 PM »
So I thought this might go in the technical forum, however I also saw people here posting about some issues with the EP so I decided to try here.

My mermaids get stuck and won’t change their scale color. When I click on the mirror and change scale color, they just stand there and then when I try to cancel the action I have to reset them. I tried using NRAAS master controller to change it, but then her tail was the original color instead of my changed one. So I changed it again and now her tail wouldn't appear. After moving her into a new house, her tail was back and the proper color, however when naked, her scales were still their old color rather than what I changed them to.

Now, since NRAAS master controller works, I'm okay with the mirror not. Unless of course it happens again where the tail doesn't appear and I have to fix it. And of course I would like the color of the scales when naked to match when not. So if anyone knows how I could fix this, that would be great.

Are your mods completely up to date?  Check the NRaas sight to be sure.  Some people got the mods right after 1.55 came out but didn't update after the actual expansion was released.

Yes. I reinstalled master controller when I realized the change scale option wasn't there. I have quite a few mods, but as far as I know that's the only one that involves mermaids. Not sure why other mods would interfere but if you think I need to redownload them, I can try that.

I also noticed that as a mermaid, her hairstyle changes to the EA one that's just like straight and I'm not sure why because my other mermaids weren't doing that.

The mod doesn't have to directly have anything to do with mermaids for them to be affected. I have had mods affect my game that weren't related to what was malfunctioning. It could be a different mod. I had a "No Social Worker" mod and it affected my ability to have PlantSims in my household. So, you might want to go through your mods and see if there are any updates to the ones you have. Especially mods that affect gameplay. Obviously, skin, hair, clothes are probably fine. It's the scripting mods and the gameplay mods (primarily, the ones that show up on your menu when you load your game) that will expire and affect your game. I know how it is to not know which is affecting the game. It's frustrating. Hope you figure it out.

I redownloaded all my NRAAS mods, but what else is considered mods? Poses? Those show up on the menu.

I changed my mermaid's scales using the mirror option from blue/purple to red/orange and had her swim from her houseboat to shore.  She changed into her tail but the color went back to blue/purple and did not stay the color I change it into.  I had her go to shore and her legs went back to the red/orange color.  I do not have any mods that I know of and have not seen issue being a problem to anyone else in the forums.

That's what happened to me when I used NRAAS mod. Try changing it again and see what happens. I have yet to try the mirror again though. My mermaid's hair also changes to an EA hair while she has her tail and I can't figure out why.

Also try exiting and restarting the game.  Does it still happen after a restart?

Growltiger, if you search the NRAAS site you can find a thread where Twallan discussed this with someone.  I think the suggested fix was to go into Mastercontroller/Basic and choose change scale color.  Then after okaying out of that Mastercontroller/Basic/Outfits and choose special outfit.  He said that should make the tail appear.  Probably best to do that while your mersim is swimming.
