Tips for a First-Time World Creator?

I've been doing some research and planning on building my first world, but I'm starting to think this may be too much for me to get into. I've never used the CAW tool and I have pretty much no graphic design experience or anything like that. Is the tool easy to use or will I need to really know my stuff? I've read the tutorial on the forum, but I'm still not sure if it's something a beginner should do.
 Any tips or advice?
