Ghastly Hallows--Chapter 6: How to Juggle
« Reply #30 on: July 29, 2013, 06:16:00 PM »
Alfonso bought a lot and built a house where he and Zheena could raise "their" baby.

This was very convenient given that the paparazzi weren't respecting the boundaries of the houseboat very well.

Zheena was in the new house when the labor pains hit.

"We're going to the hospital!!" she informed her husband.
"But...I thought we were having a home birth," he said, confused.

"You have a home birth if you'd like, I'll be at the hospital," she informed him.
Someone else showed up at the hospital.

Alfonso was displeased to see that an aged-up Akoni Kahali had shown up for the birth of his daughter.  Zheena avoided their interactions completely.

But finally, Zheena emerged from the hospital with a beautiful green baby:  Abbica Rae Ghast.

Now that she was free of her pregnancy, she was ready to begin her juggling act.  Fortunately, she had gotten a reply to the e-mail she'd sent her favorite aunt...

1) Buy all the helpful rewards that you can, ESPECIALLY "Above Reproach." It helps keep people from reporting on your infidelity, even though it won't stop them if you carry on long enough. I also use "No Jealousy," and other rewards that just help with romanticizing, like "Attractive" and "Master of Seduction."

Above Reproach was all she could afford at the moment, but it was a good start.
The message continued...

2) For me, it helps to only have a few at a time. That way, it's easy to screen a lot for those two-three-four-five people, and a nice fail-safe way to check is clicking on their picture in the Relationship panel and seeing if you have the options to "Chat"/"Invite Over"/etc. If one of the romantic interests is on the lot, either take your date somewhere else or ditch the date and take the other romantic interest somewhere. Sometimes when they're in two different rooms I have my sim goes back and forth, but that's very risky, and if you're doing some serious juggling it's best to be on the safe side.

"Dating one at a time and not crossing paths," Zheena said to herself.  "Seems simple enough."

Aunt Azokka went on to tell her,

3) Particularly if your sim is a celebrity, move around while on a date--a lot. Choosing a good location is also important. I usually choose the Consignment/Elixir Consignment Store after it closes, since other sims never show up, and it's easy to spot paparazzi. Of course, the Elixir Shop never closes, but you can always keep resetting the cashier, and they never seem to notice, anyway. It's also good to build a secret love nest in a place where sims never go: the art gallery, for example. Buy the lot, set up the love nest, and once you have the "target" inside, delete the door until you're ready to go home. Paparazzi and other sims can't get in, and the target can't leave.

Zheena wasn't in position to buy any more properties, but a make-out session in the mausoleum worked well enough.

And who would question two friends going to a game at the stadium together?

Actually, neither of those were quite satisfying.  She needs a love nest.  Good thing she still has that houseboat.

Walls and doors do wonders for privacy.

Further advice from auntie included:

4) If there's a boyfriend/girlfriend, only go out and be romantic in public with him/her, and, as mentioned earlier, screen the lot. Townies don't mind if it's all romantic interests, but they aren't happy with someone cheating on their partner and will report it as soon as physically possible. For romantic interests, go with the Consignment Stores, or visiting their house. Visiting the house is always a good option, since there's no chance of someone showing up and you have full access to the facilitites. Housemates are easily evaded and generally won't notice, due to Above Reproach.

"Here's me with my loving hubby, everyone!" Zheena proudly announced.

"And here's one just for me," she thought to herself.

And Aunt Azokka's final words of instruction were as follows:

5) Pay attention to the messages coming up and the reactions of sims around them. By the time I had Nataliya juggle, most of the sims in town had died off so it was easy to find empty lots, but if the town is populated you'll need to pay more attention. If you're out in public with a romantic interest (again, only if you have a partner), use minimal romantic interactions: flirting, watching the stars, etc. If you get the message that "Sims are starting to notice something between X and Y/might want to stop before someone gets hurt," cease immediately and move to isolated location for more serious wooing.

"Well, hello, mister werewolf," Zheena greeted the furry supernatural.

"Oh, I was just being polite and saying hello," she assured Akoni as she rushed back over to their date.

All this juggling might be exhausting, but Zheena had to admit, it was also rather fun.

(Special thanks to Azokka for the helpful advice and screenshots and to Rhoxi for Percival's great comic relief)

Great update. Aunt Azokka advice will be very helpful to Zheena. And it is nice to see Percival and his comic relief. Looking forward for next juggling update.

Indeed, it is a fantastic guide!  It actually started simply as me as the writer seeking her advice on how to have Zheena be successful, then the clever twist of her Simself being Zheena's favorite aunt came out of that.  It was truly a joy collaborating with her!

Well, interesting update to say the least.
It was fun to write and set up as well.

Yep, expect these rules/guidelines to be followed throughout the story.  Gotta keep Alfie happy, honor Zheena's unexpected romantic weakness for Akoni, and continue the challenge!

I was wondering--it read like advice, but in-story it actually kind of made sense--although my mind is still warping on how Thana Azokka could be Zheena's aunt, but okay . . .
I think I may be able to read this. Your writing is good even though your protagonist is abhorrent to me.

Thanks!  I know you have an issue with the supernatural skeptics, so I take that as quite the high praise!

Ghastly Hallows--Chapter 7: Someone Special...?
« Reply #37 on: July 31, 2013, 04:48:53 PM »

"I need to get some microphones in here," Annalee thought as she was spending another evening enjoying the perks of owning a coffee shop,

but the peace of that moment was interrupted when her phone vibrated.
"Excuse me," she said to Phezelle, as she got up to check her phone.

She was delighted to see it was a text message from her dear friend, and fellow supernatural skeptic, Zheena, though the content caught her a bit off guard.

Things are odd here in IP.  Glowbug husband heard rumors that I was cheating on him.

When he confronted me, I played the role of the wounded wife so well that he ended up apologizing to me.

He even decided to kiss and make up.  Yeah, he's a glowbug, but he is a great kisser.  Oh.  I think Abbica might have aged up.  She looks bigger anyway, and she has scales.  Yep.  She's a mermaid.  I'm surrounded by supernaturals!

Anyway, Alfie took her out for a walk the next day, so I had my dear human friend Christopher over for a visit.  I think he aged up too.  I'm having so much trouble focusing these days, but I'll get to that later.

At any rate, we had a lovely time.

Oh, and in other news, I'm pregnant again!

But here's where the weird starts.  Everytime I would watch Alfie interacting with Abbica,

I'd catch myself thinking about how sweet it was, and then I'd notice the pretty blue of his wings...and it would remind me of something else.   Someone else.

Then, when I noticed that Abbica had scaly legs, it didn't actually repulse me.  Instead, it made me feel happy and flustered at the same time.  It also reminded me of that someone.
In fact, when I found out I was pregnant, I checked into a luxury suite at a rival resort and invited this someone over to celebrate.

It's just not "natural," if you take my meaning.  I'm confused.  And scared.  And oddly happy.
Anyway, just wanted to update you that you'll be an aunt again soon.  Peace!

Annalee sputtered, "Not 'natural?'  But that..."

"I mean, she couldn't possibly mean..."

"WHAT?!!?"

Great update. It's so foolish for Alfonso to believe her guilt-trap. And woohooing with someone in the rival's resort:o. It was great to see Analee and others and their coffee shop. Looking forward for next update or next advice from her aunt Azokka:).

Just so everyone is aware, Zheena was mistaken in the last update.  It turns out that story progression had turned her human friend Christopher (you know, this guy)

into a witch.  Didn't notice it until just recently.  We're now two supernaturals into the life states cluster, but can't mark off human as yet.

Silly story progression!

Ghastly Hallows--Chapter 8-Of Love and Squick
« Reply #41 on: August 02, 2013, 01:42:04 PM »

Abbica Rae was enjoying time playing with the block table her mommy had gotten her.

Meantime, her mommy was out acquiring another table.

And when Zheena returned from her little outing, she brought a special visitor to spend some time with Abbica.  It seemed fitting, given that he was her father and all.
"What lovely scales you have, darling girl," Akoni said to his daughter.

"Dey pink!" beamed the tiny child, having no idea this man was her father.

After she put Abbica in her crib, Zheena spun into her maternity wear.  Baby number two was on the way.  She and Akoni said their goodbyes as he couldn't be around when hubby got home, but Zheena knew they'd have to have a talk later.

The next day, however, brought a fun-filled day of enjoying celebrity attention at Ghastly Hallows.

And she enjoyed that lovely activity that all pregnant women seem to naturally gravitate towards:

golf.

Finally, it came time to have her chat with Akoni.

"Another beautiful baby on the way, huh?" he asked.
"Yes, but let's not chat about the baby," she began, less confidently than she wished to sound, "we need to talk about...us."  And with that, they went below deck.

"This is awkward," she began, "but everything about who you are should repulse me."
"Well, that's a promising start," he said with a slight chuckle.
"No, jut hear me out," she said, "I find supernaturals disgusting, yet here you are as a merman, and I don't despise you.  You're balding and old, yet can't stop thinking about you."

"So, I'm some hideous creature that should only come out in the dark of night?" he joked.
"No, you're my whole world," she said as she pulled him into an embrace.
"Well, that does sound rather nice," he replied, a bit caught off guard.

"But, it's not that simple," she said.
"I know," he replied, "I've always known.  You have some sort of scheme.  Something bigger you're involved in.  I'm not sure what it is, but I know you wouldn't have married that fairy or had any kids by your own choice.  There's something more at work."
"Well, yes, it's..." she began.

"You don't owe me an explanation," he replied, "just do what it is you have to do and spare me a moment now and then when you get the chance."
She wanted to cry.  She wanted to laugh in relief.  She wanted...him.  But at that moment, their sanctity was interrupted by a persistent paparazzo.

Zheena and Akoni fled the houseboat...and the paparazzo walked on water?

She wanted to spend more time with her precious merman, but something interrupted that idea...

Baby number two, the child of Christopher Collins, who turned out to be a witch rather than a regular human, was born.

"Say hello to your new sister, Brynhildr," Zheena said to Abbica.
"Heddo Hiddy!" Abbica greeted the nooboo.

Of course, the natural response to the miracle of childbirth is to run out and have the next child.

And so she meets a handsome young human gentleman at a local resort.

The youngster was the aged up teenage son of someone Zheena knew quite well.  This was Omar Collins.  Son of Christopher Collins.  And yes, that is Christopher in the background.

Things got squicky.

Very, very squicky.

And when it was time to leave the resort,

Zheena arrived home to discover that little Abbica wasn't so little anymore.

"So, mommy," Abbica began, "you're a human, dad's a fairy, but I'm a mermaid.  The only other merperson I've met is Akoni.  Anything you need to tell me?"
Zheena decided in that moment that this clever child would be her favorite.  After all, she was his child with her beloved Akoni.  She promised her daughter they'd have a long chat about that when she was older.

The human child she was now carrying would be much easier to explain.  Certainly there would be no question of the parentage, right?
But, speaking of parentage, Zheena has started using her love nest to keep score.

(The dark, nighttime pictures might be replaced) From left to right we have:  Akoni Kahale, Christopher Collins, and Omar Collins.
