Ghastly Hallows--Chapter 4: How She told the Story
« Reply #15 on: July 20, 2013, 02:18:15 AM »

It was a typical day at Poet's Corner.  Kyte and Phezelle had both stopped in and were enjoying a chat.

Suddenly, a familiar voice called them.
"Girls, come over here," said the coffee house's proprietor, Annalee Poetry, "it's a message from Zheena."

"Ooo, look at the subject line," said Phezelle, "this is about her wedding!"

And so they excitedly opened the message.

re: Wedding Day!!

The day of the wedding was almost upon us.  While I was not delighted to be marrying a supernatural, I made the best of it.  I did my daily snorkeling excursion,

and then I went to check on the beautiful setting I'd arranged for the ceremony.

It was breathtaking!  It was hard to believe that I'd be standing there exchanging vows the next day.
But the night before the wedding was not any sort of crazy bachelorette party.  Instead, I just had a quiet get together with some friends.

The day of the wedding was busy, as I was still running a resort, but finally, the sun started to set and it was time for the wedding.

It was a small, beautiful ceremony with just a small gathering.

The exchange of vows and rings was lovely...despite the presence of a zombie.  First, a zombie pops up the first night I tried to stop by and meet Alfie (which is what I've taken to calling Alfonso), and now another one has to pop up the night we wed.  It was horribly traumatic!

With the stress of a day of work and wedding preparations, and then the shock of the zombie coupled with the overwhelming emotions that come with a wedding day, Alfie understood when I told him I felt overwhelmed and exhausted and needed to turn in early.  He agreed to stay and entertain our guests while I got some much needed rest.  He may be a creepy supernatural, but he was a perfect gentleman.

Give my love to the girls, and keep some for yourself.

   Peace,
   Zheena

Ghastly Hallows--Chapter 4.5: What Really Happened
« Reply #16 on: July 20, 2013, 11:11:16 AM »
With the day of the wedding almost upon her, Zheena decided to cool off with a morning snorkeling expedition.

She then checked on the preparations she'd made for a wedding arch.  It was set up in the ruins on her resort property.  She was delighted to think about how many more couples she could attract to the resort by billing it as a wedding location.

After a "long day's work running the resort" (which realistically consisted of phoning handsome gentlemen and snorkeling), she decided to enjoy some of the fine cuisine in her resort's restaurant only to find a werewolf attacking her food with nothing resembling manners.

To take her mind off the nasty supernatural beastie, she decided to go visit a handsome human gentleman friend.

"Hey, Christopher, I noticed that your daughter and wife were both at my resort, so I thought you might be lonely," she greeted him in her most seductive voice.
"Oh, umm, yeah they were there.." he started.

"Oh look, your daughter's home," Zheena said, awkwardly.

"And look, your lovely wife has returned," Zheena said, trying to hide her discomfort.
Zheena, being the sweet-talker she is, managed to stay over anyway...in bed with Christopher for the night.

Or at least a portion of the night.

The next day, Zheena went back to "working."  Then, finally, the night of the wedding came.  Zheena made a call before the ceremony started.

Then she came down to exchange vows and rings.

And she was furious when some nasty zombie had the nerve to show his face at her perfect ceremony!

Nevertheless, they finished the ceremony.  She then took a phone call,

made her excuses to her new husband about feeling overwhelmed and fatigued, and ran off to the houseboat.

Which was exactly where she'd told the merman to meet her.

"My husband doesn't suspect a thing," she assured him.  "He's going to stay there and make sure our party guests stay entertained...and speaking of entertainment..."

Zheena's guest  was clearly far more entertained than the guests on the beach.

Zheena's husband will have good reason to sing, "What's it all about, Alfie?" (Sorry, but I've had that song in my head ever since I read your entry this morning.) For his sake, I hope the baby doesn't have scaly legs.

Hadn't even thought of that song!  Now you're going to get it stuck in my head too.
Well, if Zheena's going to complete this supernatural cluster (as she plans to since it means seducing and betraying them), she will end up being Lucy and have some splaining to do.

Yep, that's how Zheena does a wedding night.  I think Zheena and your girl Arie would be good friends  :=)

Awesome update. Congratulations to Zheena on her wedding day, but will this be her only or there will be more wedding day in the future? I am curious. And oh, woohoo with the guest in her wedding day, such a shame, Zheena.:)

The plan is to keep her married to the same guy the whole time.  By doing so, she scores extra points for every baby conceived in their home.  If the husband divorces/dies/leaves she loses the bonus points.
Glad you enjoyed the update!

Ghastly Hallows--Chapter 5: A Less-Than-True Confession
« Reply #22 on: July 26, 2013, 05:22:47 PM »

Zheena wasn't sure if it was seasickness or the early signs of pregnancy.  What she was sure of was that she needed to have a little chat with her new husband.  Given that she was fairly certain she was pregnant, and they had yet to consummate their marriage, she'd definitely have some explaining to do.

He was out for his morning SCUBA dive,

so she sent him a text to join her on the houseboat when he was finished.

She was striking her best awkwardly uncomfortable pose as he entered.  "I need to tell you something," she began, tentatively.

"Okay," he replied, an obvious concerned confusion in his voice.
"Last night," she began, "when I left the wedding ceremony early, I felt sick to my stomach.  It hasn't passed.  And I don't think it's nerves or seasickness."

"Are you trying to say you're having second thoughts about our marriage?" Alfonso asked.
"Oh no," she replied quickly, "Heavens no!  It's just...when I first arrived in town, I didn't know anyone.  I was lonely.  Vulnerable."
"Okay," he said, encouraging her to continue, but obviously concerned about what he was about to hear.
"The first person I met who really took an interest in me was Akoni Kahale."
"The merman?" asked Alfonso.
"Yes," she said, her voice breaking slightly as if she was about to cry.  "He...he took advantage of me...and I think I'm carrying his baby now!"
Alfonso pulled her into a comforting embrace.

"It's alright," he assured her.  "It's not your fault.  He took advantage of your sweet nature and innocence.  We'll just raise your child as our own and no one has to be any wiser."
Zheena smiled in delight at how completely her Alfie was wrapped around her pretty pink finger.
Later that day, she spun into her maternity wear confirming that she was, in fact, pregnant.

She and Alfie were going to go forward as if the indiscretion had never happened.  She even went to court to dispute the allegations of cheating that had been lobbied against her.

She lost, of course, because the allegations were true.  However, she had to put on a good show for Alfonso.

She had gotten Alfonso's promise that he wouldn't confront Akoni about what he thought had passed between his wife and the merman, but she thought it was in her best interest to make sure Akoni knew what had happened.

"I'm pregnant.  It's your baby," she said to him once she was inside.

"And what does your precious Alfonso think of that?" he asked.
"He thinks you seduced me and took advantage of me before he and I had met," she replied rather casually.

"Well, other than the timeline, isn't that exactly what happened?" asked the merman, a twinkle in his eye.
"Umm, no," she replied, perhaps too assertively, "that's not at all what happened.  I chose that one time to be with you simply to have the baby.  It's nothing more than that."

"Are you sure?" he asked, taking her hands in his and looking her in the eye.  She was trying to deny it, but somehow she found herself sitting on the couch with him.

Kissing.
Then they made their way upstairs...

Zheena wasn't quite sure if she felt elated or disgusted with herself as she left.  However, she was distracted from such thoughts as her phone rang.
It was Christopher Collins, one of the handsome human men she'd already picked out to be a future baby daddy.  He was hoping they could get together soon.

She was going to need to learn to juggle.  Quickly!

Zheena, Zheena, Zheena . . . Alfonso clearly doesn't know what he has gotten into!

Hm, I wonder how she shall learn to juggle?  ;)

Well, with any luck, they'll offer that class at City Hall.  If not...

Good, you shouldn't know how to juggle men.  But juggling beanbags, that's pretty cool!

Glad you're enjoying it!  It's fun having the supernatural skeptic getting drawn into romantic feelings for the merman.  Poor Alfonso is just her marriage of convenience.  And spite.  Poor slave-husband.  She has to keep seducing men whether she's pregnant or not so she can have her next baby daddy lined up when the time comes.

Woah, heck of a cover story there, Zheena!  :o Wasn't expecting that.

Poor Alfonso. He's too nice and trusting for his own good.
