Create-a-Sim Contest 2013: 06 - Slider Showcase - Closed

   Thanks everyone for a very unexpected win!  All of the other entries were so strong I really didn't expect Sam to turn many heads.  I'm totally open to comments on him (and yes, he's named after the poem).   

Chetan - Ranjan has such unique and great shapes in his cheeks and jaw.  He's definitely going to be adding to the gene pool in my towns.  Great work!

Audren - Olaf is just too adorable!  I love his missing shoes, his backstory, the way his traits and his backstory and his appearance all merge so well.  Even his name is great!

Danielle - What I imagine a sim vampire would look like, you made.  Marceline will be my go-to sim when I need a vampire, for sure!

RaiaDraconis - Kiyara has such great details on her.  I love her lip shape and the way you managed to make her ears, nose, and chin pixie-pointed and perky.  Great hair colour too!

Azokka - Sunshine is just so much fun!  I love the huge shoes and the bright wardrobe (and was greatly amused by her being an outcast due to calculus and bathing).  Everything about her is so sunny and positive.

JessieJJJ - Gabby's features are subtle and that's what makes them so wonderful.  She looks like she's got feelings and depth even when she's idle.  All of her colours work wonderful together and her freckles are just icing on the cake.  Lovely sim all around!

Ladybug - I love Jasmine's eye colour.  It's bright enough to be noticeable without being too intense, which I find such a hard thing to balance when customizing eyes.  I really loved the recolours on her clothes too!

Hazelnut - Voldy is incredible.  I don't know how you got the sliders to do what they did, but he's so perfect.  Honestly, when I saw him I thought he'd dominate the contest through his dark magic and slider sorcery.

@ JessieJJJ - I really liked your creation of Gabrielle . She's a very pretty girl and her freckles just add a special touch . Great job on your screenshots and recolor of her clothes .

Trip, I was so excited when I saw an entry by you.  Your sims tend to have these really fantastic unique shapes to their faces and Penelope was no exception.  I can't even imagine what her eye shape was to begin with but it wound up amazing!

@Vinyl I ADORED Sam because I felt sad for him because he had such exotic features!

Now that I'm off from work and rested up, time for some comments.

Chetan: I echo everyone on the great use of base game clothes, but I also like Ranjan's facial structure. He has a nice and friendly look to him.

Audren: Olaf's big eyes are just adorable, and I can always appreciate a humorous bio.

Danielle: I don't watch Adventure Time, but I love Marceline's face in profile. It's so strangely gentle.

Raia: Another sim with a really interesting profile. I also like a lot of the subtle patterns used on her clothes to give them some depth.

Azokka: You succeeded in making a sim look cute in their wolf-form. That's a pretty big feat by itself! I love her nose in human form too.

Jessie: I feel sorry for Gabby with such a bio. Her eyes are super-pretty too. I'm a sucker for relaxed-looking eyes.

Ladybug: I could instantly tell that she was one of your sims by the picture. Being able to keep your own style with an extra kick of uniqueness is great.

Hazelnut: I think I actually muttered to myself about how awesome of a sim Voldemort was when I first saw your entry. Or I thought it really loudly. It's pretty hard to eliminate the nose on a sim that shouldn't have one, but I think you did a good job with it (and a stunningly-excellent job with everything else).

Sam McGee was just a darling -- he reminds me a little of Kevin from The Sims 2 University.

There were so many great entries that it was really hard to pick just three.

hazelnut, you really captured the spirit of Lord Voldemort. I looked at him, and almost felt like there was no point in entering.

Raia, I'm very tempted to add your fairy to one of my stories; she'd fit in perfectly, and is very distinctive.

I was very impressed by the "normal" Sims -- they all had character.

Anyway, I'd love to hear comments on mine -- Thanks, samoht for suggesting the idea, and Schip for implementing it!

MarianT, I loved Victoria.  Her outfits are such creative combinations of clothes from so many EPs to such great effect (especially that outerwear outfit for troop reviews!).  Her formalwear is simply gorgeous.  And her genes!  Unusual enough to be different, but not too unusual to the point of abnormality.  As a collector of sim genetics she's a rare gem indeed.  Already she's taken a trip out of the sim bin and I fully expect her to make many more grand appearances in other files.

@Vinyl: I love Sam. He's so cute, in a quirky kind of way. It'd be interesting to see what his kids would look like.

@hazelnut: Me and my sister tried making Voldemort once but he didn't look quite as good as yours. How you made him look so evil, I have no idea

Swirl-Girl - Lepidus is lovely.  I really like the shape of her nose and her eyes.  Her hair colour is fantastic and somehow works so well with her golden skin.  Really interesting history for her and giving her a witch lifetime wish while making her human is a great twist!

Once again thanks to our contest co-ordinators for this fun contest I had lots of fun as usual and I’m glad there were so many entries.  Wow, all entries were absolutely mind-blowing; it was very hard to vote for just 3, everyone earned my vote. 

@ Vinyl – Congrats on your well-deserved win.  I like Sam’s red hair and his eyebrows is very funny but in a cute way, I also just wanted to hug him. There are so many Sam’s in my real life and people can be so nasty sometimes.

@ hazelnut – You have used the sliders so well on Lord Voldemort, well done.  I also think he will make a great vampire, with his skin colour and red eyes.  Well done.

@ JessieJJJ – Gabrielle’s freckles makes her very pretty and special, she the cute girl next door.  I also like her clothing and the colours you used, well done.

@ Audren – Look at those big green eyes of Olaf, so sweet.  Yes his so adorable in a childish sort of way, love him.  Well done.

@ azokka361 – Sunshine’s skin colour goes so well with that pretty yellow eye of hers.  I had a great laugh at her everyday shoes so funny but in a cute way.  I like all the bright colours you used on her clothing as well.  Well done.

@ chetanhaobijam – I like Ranjan’s high cheek bones and the colour of his skin it looks like he had a nice suntan.  You also did a good job on his clothing and all the nice base game patterns you used.

@ Danielle Haydis – Marceline is a very pretty vampire and that red eyes and lips is to die for.  I also like the clothing that you created for her especially her formal wear.  Well done.

@ Swirl-Girl – I like Lepidus’s skin and hair colour, she is also very pretty.  Good job on the clothing and colours you used, also her hairstyle suits her very well.

Swirl-girl -- That aqua hair goes beautifully with her golden skin. It's sad that she can't become a zombie master as long as she remains human, but then, what else are elixirs for? Your screenshots are all excellent. The one of Lepidus in the pool is especially artistic (as my husband would say, "Contrast! Contrast!").

Snuffles -- I loved your tragic clownette, and her clothes were perfect. She had a good biography, too. I just wanted to pick her up and hug her.

Goslett -- I can't help wondering what would happen if Tyrone married Kiyara; they'd make an interesting pair.

azokka -- Sunshine is the prettiest werewolf I've ever seen, and I love the color combinations in her clothes.
