I remember watching Labyrinth with my grade 6 class as a bonus for us doing well in our Math exam. I adored it from the beginning and have seen it quite a few times since! I think it's epic that he released his last album as a requim... They are even saying that he held on just long enough for the album to be released *sob*

Death and taxes right :-(

Yay! The trips are awesim! And if this is cursed then that is even more reason to push on! Tempt fate :-)

Another lovely update!  It's also quite enjoyable how you added in a public service message so we'd all remember the poor, struggling children who don't even have couches to drive  :=)

On a more positive note: it's so great to have you back with this story Tia <3

Edited to add: correction - 3 celebs in 3 days!

Sigh, I think Sims 18 will be out by the time I do, mpart!

Thanks, Mags!

Chapter Fifty-Three - Triplet Times

Now, to imply that Jareth was playing favorites would be overstating things, since all three boys developed best friend relationships with him very quickly.  It is true at this point in his life people just had to look at Jareth to fall in love with him.  But certain preferences did seem to develop as the trips grew up.

"You call this a wine cellar, Jareth?"

"Nectar, Thran, it's nectar!" Jareth told him.  "Remember, I only had a PG rating."

"Either way, it's pitiful.  We're going to have to do something about this."

"Mrs Ogg is quite a good cook."

"You could show your appreciation by doing the dishes once in a while, Nuada." Jareth told him.

Nuada shrugged.  "The other elf is trying to curry favor.  Let him."

"I've got it, Jareth," Thranduil said.

"Pitiful," Nuada said, shaking his head.

"Nuada!  Check it out!  I'm getting ready for our supermax." Loki called.

"Why?" Nuada countered.  "It's all predetermined.  If you're not the heir, why bother?"

"Because you are all going to do it." Tia interrupted.  "For all you know, you are the heir, and I am in no mood for your shenanigans.  Why don't you go talk to Erik about building you a simbot army?  That always makes you feel better."

"Erik!" Nuada yelled, sprinting down the hall.

"Pitiful," Loki said, returning to his ride.

"How is your sister these days?" Jareth asked.

"We're getting along much better since we started the counselling with Yoda.  He seems to specialize in brother/sister relationships these days.  But I find the furniture in his office very small, and it's hard to lounge properly without good chairs."

Jareth nodded.  "A good pose is always important."

"Thran and I were talking with Loki, and he says there's no thrones in this world."  Nuada continued, with a forlorn look.  "Thran's pretty upset about it."

"I'll talk to the minion." Jareth promised.

"He's pretty depressed about the whole thing," Loki explained to Mag.

"Legolas invited us all over, and when the call came, shoved Thran right down the modem, cackling like a madman."  Loki smiled wickedly.  "I didn't know the elf had it in him.  I'm kinda proud of him, actually."

All too quickly, the trips aged up.  Depending on your point of view, of course.  Tia would have liked them to stay kids a little longer, viewing the results of teenage hormones and facial structures.

Loki:

Nuada:

And Thranduil:

The Arlo is strong with this one.

This also led to the immediate start of the supermax.

*Walks off shaking head.*

Hazelnut, I seriously did think about it.  But I've come too far to fail now.  ;)  Since the story demanded that Jareth and the others not know who the heir was, so I had to get a little creative.

Wow... Tia you are brave! And wow, love Nuada!

Not brave, Wolfie, just a little unhinged,  ;D.  And can you believe that Nuada and Thran are brothers?

Chapter Fifty-Four - For My Will Is As Strong As Yours

Jareth was starting to get sneaky.  Since Tia wouldn't tell him who the heir was, he set the goblins to spying.  But their efforts were in vain as all the trips starting riding immediately and the yard filled with horses who came and went as soon as they became best friends.

"You're going about it the wrong way, Kingy my lad," Gytha told him on Ambrosia Day.  "Just follow the racing and see which one of them is entering."

"It's impossible," Erik said, digging into his meal.  "Two, maybe.  But all three of them can't supermax the riding skill."  He chewed thoughtfully for a moment, then his eyes narrowed as he swallowed.  "It could put the whole dynasty in jeopardy."

"Minion!" Jareth howled at the top of his voice.

"Dang, GK, I'm right here," Tia said.  "I'm looking into thrones but they won't go with the decor."

"Forget the furniture," Jareth hissed.  "Your machinations are ruining my dynasty!"

"Don't know what you're talking about," Tia protested.

"I have done everything required of me!" Jareth stormed.  "I have lost my hair, had it dyed, put up with Erik and Mag's adolescence countless times, been stuck in a time loop, subjected to Loki and Legolas at the same time, stuffed into a little black box while you replace computer parts, lost Luna, been frozen by Gytha and even dealt with Raina!  I refuse to have this dynasty falter because you want to prove something to yourself!  The heir, and the heir alone will do the supermax."

"Tea, Jareth?" Gytha asked, handing him a cup.

"Yes, thank you," he said, taking it from her.  "I trust I have made myself clear, minion?"

"Crystal." Tia said.  "But you still won't know who the heir is."

"Oh, I think I'll be able to discover it." Jareth said, taking a sip of his tea and glancing sidelong at Gytha.

But Tia, after serious consultation with Gwendy, had come up with a plan to forestall him.  She gathered the triplets together and bound them with the most secret oaths.  And then she laid out her plan.

"I promise you, on the honour of my dynasty, to give the two who aren't the heir what you most desire.  Anything.  I can do that.  And I can beat any offer Jareth makes tenfold.  Or," she said, with a twisted little grin, "I can make your lives a living haytch ee double hockey sticks.  Got me?"

After some whispered conversations between the boys, the deal was struck.  And thus, while the triplets were at school, Horse Camp was developed.

Jareth, after reading that the Masked Avenger had placed in the first race, stormed into the living room.

"You're not fooling anyone!" Jareth raged.  "And frankly, you look ridiculous!  I thought you'd have a little more dignity, Thran."

"I lost all dignity when I showed up here with this face," the Elvenking retorted.  "I'm just grateful I get to keep my hair."

"Nuada?  I'd expect this kind of behavior from Loki, but you?"

"Hey!" Loki protested.

"Meh," Nuada responded, flipping the pages of his book.  "It's going to take Erik some time to build enough simbots for my purposes."

"You have no power over me!" Tia giggled softly.

Tia! Your persistence is wonderful! I love your story! You really have gone through so much to get this to work. Ah, what we do for our Sims, eh? I hope you know I'm here cheering you on!
Jareth needs to take a chill pill. After you have all three doing riding everything else will feel like a cakewalk. ;)

PS. I love his rant he gives you, I was laughing too hard!

My vote is for Nuada! Definitely want those genes to continue down the line! If Thran is heir I might have to cry! All that potential future Jareth-esque hotness lost beneath the might of The Arlo! Loki is kinda cute so I won't mind him too much...

And a triple riding supermax?!? OMG that is hectic Tia! Even if you don't supermax the races with the non-heirs, its still going to be hectic as all-get-out!

Thanks, Mags.  Things didn't quite go as originally planned, as this chapter will illustrate.

Chapter Fifty- Five What Happens at Horse Camp...

Stays at Horse Camp.

"Hello, horse," Nuada said.

"Why do I have to be the first one up?" the elf prince grumbled.

"Because you are a crowd favorite," Tia told him.  "It's either pictures of you or people faint at your brother."

"Loki's not that bad," Nuada protested.

"I didn't mean him," Tia said.

"This beast is missing its antlers," Thranduil said.  "Is it defective?"

"That's my line!" Loki called from the darkness.

"Never mind all that foolishness, just come and turn into young adults, will you?  I'm so tired of you all getting busted by the cops for missing curfew."

"Young man," Thranduil snapped at the officer.  "I am sure I am covered by diplomatic immunity."

"Nice try, Arlo," the police said.  "We know all about you downtown."

But they did make it to graduation.

If Jareth was hoping for a hint from their success at school, he was let down.  Nuada was Valedictorian and Most Likely to Fulfill His Lifetime Wish.  Thran and Loki walked away with Highest Honors, Thran being Most Popular, of course, and Loki Most Likely to Save the World.

"Did you even go to this school?" Jareth asked them.

And on the way home, Mag bailed on the dynasty.

"Dang it, Mag, we were just about to launch the satellite into orbit," Erik protested.

"Oh, yeah, the satellite," Mag snarked.  "Listen, I am not coming back, I've already talked to Sarah.  Try and get this over with and come home.  Your plants are withering."

It was makeover time once again.

Nuada:

Loki:

Sigh.  And Thran:

"Where's your new outfit photo?" Tia asked.

"You didn't take one."  Thranduil shot back.

"Oh, right," Tia said.

Horse Camp was a runaway smash hit with the boys.  It got them out of the way of the papparazi who kept spooking the horses, it was closer to the Equestrian Centre and most of all, they could stay on topic without being...distracted...by Jareth.

"Loki?" Tia asked.

"Obviously I need to step up my game if I want to get a mention in this chapter," Loki said.

Dedication was at an all time high, even in the winter.

"Guys, you're killing me," Tia wailed.  "I've got something I need to get finished, so keep at it!"

"We're on it," Loki called.

I really hope that Thran is the heir, just because we  need more Arlo genes in the game, (and it would be the perfect way to have Quasimodo as an heir)
