Wow, I feel slow, it took me quite a while to realize that the baby was truly Indiana Jones.

Right?

Er... I'm going to assume yes and just pretend to be super-smart!
I always KNEW there was a reason for those silly WA outfits! Now they have a place!

Indiana was the dog's name!  Nice choice.  From Luna to Indy.  Love the craziness of these characters coming together.

"You are named after the dog?"  One of the best lines in one of my favorite movies!

Yes!  It's Indy!  *does happy dance* I really do need to read the comic XD I keep meaning to, then get distracted with other things.  Welcome little Indy!  *grins* Oh please tell me he gets the fun WA explorer outfits!

Don't worry, Shewolf, those outfits were made with our Indy in mind!  Dr Jones has a small part in Roommates, but I did want him for the Dynasty.

Super smart you are, Livvie!  WA outfits shall abound!

Excellent! I love your combination of Rowling and Pratchett and others. Keep it up.

Thanks, Nullifidian!  As always, the credit for the idea goes to the Roommates and Girls Next Door webcomics.

Chapter Thirty-Eight - If You Give A Tin Man Hormones

"There you are!" Luna cried, scooping up Smaug from his hiding place in the haystack.  "I've been looking everywhere for you!  Have you been stalking Legolas again?"

The little dragon rumbled something in a deep voice, then closed his eyes in content as Luna rubbed his head.

"What was that?" she asked politely.

"The green," Smaug said quietly, "she's...attractive."  Then his voice rose to his normal, arrogant bellow.  "But the elf should beware my wrath!  For his kind and mine have ever been enemies!"

Legolas, at the other end of the yard, started shooting faster.

Meanwhile, Luna, with either a woman's intuition or being tipped off by Smaug, discovered something fishy in the kitchen, and it wasn't Jareth making his infamous fish sticks.

"Rusty?" she asked, confused.  "Why are you flirting with Gytha?"

"Everyone flirts with Gytha," Erik pointed out, hoping to salvage the situation.

"It's not his fault, love," Gytha soothed her.  "I was just complimentin' him on his knickers."

"I don't know what happened, Luna," Rusty said, shaking his head to clear it.  "I've got all these feelings and urges and I don't know what to do."

"It's always the way," Tia said, cynically.  "Pop a man back into a meat suit and his glands take over.  Rusty, you've got to get a handle on this."

"How?" he asked, looking sadly at Luna.

"Well, Gytha, I think you'd better go back to work for a while," Erik said, looking steadily at her.  "The less you're in the house, the better, right now."

Gytha grinned.  "Be a whole new crop of young men working down there, yes?"

"Oh, most emphatically yes!" Tia said.  "Off you go."

"As for you, Rusty, I suggest you look into the eastern disciplines.  It may help you learn self control.  The trip could be a little risky though.  I'll talk it over with Jareth."

"I'm so sorry, Luna!"  Rusty said, with a choke in his voice.  "I never want to hurt you.  I love you so much."

"Then we'll work through this problem together," she told him, her voice kind and loving.  "It must be so hard for you to adjust to everything here."

And so it was decided that as soon as young Indy aged up, the couple would take a trip to China.  Luckily, Rusty and Gytha managed to avoid each other during the last day, and when they gathered together for his party, Gytha was much more interested in cake than the Tin Man's good looks.

Jareth scooped the toddler up and ran him to the bedroom to slip him into the family sleeper.

Then it was off to get his artwork done.  Luna finished her races for the day with Dubstep and Rusty got the packing done, taking care of passports and tickets and things.  Luckily, he had picked up the prepared traveler passport, so he and Luna had 6 days to work things out.

Luna, excited at the prospect of new animals to study, was up at dawn, looking over the travel brochures with Gytha.  Rusty slept in a little longer.

"Jareth?" Tia whispered.  "What are you guys doing?"

"Making sure nothing goes wrong between here and the airport.  We've a little sound advice for Rusty when he wakes up."

"I'd feel better if I didn't think you were going to turn him to toast, if I didn't know Erik has a sand sock in his back pocket and Legolas wasn't looking up sites called Revenge.com online."

"Trust me," Jareth smiled, a smile full of scary promise.

Thankfully, the trip to China proved to be exactly what the Tin Man needed to learn to center himself and discover who he was.  It was almost like he was a new man.  While he was working hard at the Academy and the Scholar's Garden,  Luna had a chance to explore and do a little shopping.  And show off her new swimwear.

"Luna, honey?" Tia asked gently.  "Why the boots?"

"They're imbued with anti-mermaid charms," she said, showing them off.  "You can never be too careful."

After many hours of meditation, hard physical challenges, and self-discipline, Rusty was able to concentrate on the one woman who mattered in his life, his Luna.

And Luna responded in the best way she knew how.

Turning their voyage of discovery into a fairytale honeymoon.

Anti-mermaid boots, Pip.  Very important when swimming in China apparently...

I swear, Shewolf, they followed him around for a full day!  Wee bit creepy...

Chapter Thirty-Nine - There's Something About Indy

With his parents back from China with their issues worked out, Gytha back at work at the Bistro, and Luna working to finish her requirements, it was time to turn attention back to young Indy.

The first blond in the family, and the Bunch nose showed no signs of going anywhere.

Indy was guided through the toddler years by the men in his family.  Perhaps a mercurial Goblin-King, an unstable Phantom of the Opera, an Elf building traps and avoiding Smaug and a Sim-Fu Master Tin Man were not the best choice, but there it was.

Legolas got the boy talking about his arrival.

"It turned out I had a family I had no idea about, apparently went mad and thought I could survive a nuclear blast in a fridge and my kid, Watcher above, Legolas, you have no idea what a brat he is!"

The elf nodded sagely.  "I hear you there, Indy.  One day you're fine, just hanging with your dwarf buddy, and the next you've been hit by a new incarnation, and you're throwing insults at the dwarf, and he's throwing axes!  I'm thinking about starting a support group when we get back."

"They're talking about back child support, Erik," Indy said.

"Can't say I  blame you a bit for coming here," Erik said.

There was something disturbing in the toddler's face.  Something that spoke of plotting and vengeance.  Something scary.

"I mean, I was perfectly happy to have finally made up with my dad and ride off into the sunset with Marcus and Sallah."

"You did find some crystal skulls and aliens," Jareth pointed out.

"That's not archeology.  That's bad writing," Indy protested.

"Well, we'll get you some proper archeology while you're here, and maybe Mag can find a way out of your dilemma at home.  She's pretty formidable."

"Jareth, what happened to the stroller?" Tia asked.

"I don't wish to discuss it," he said, looking down at the sleepy toddler.

Luna and Dubstep finished the riding portion of her supermax, and it was on to befriending the wild horses.

And Indy aged up to childhood.

Indy looks adorable!  :) It seems The Nose can be quite charming once the rest of Arlo is bred out.

Erik was cute as a child, too, I'd just like to point out,  :D

Just a short update this time...

Chapter Forty - The Return of The Hair

Indy's childhood flashed by in an instant.  And because Tia was too busy with Luna befriending horses, there weren't a lot of pictures.  Rusty turned into an old man, and actually smiled.

Erik and Indy compared notes on booby traps and secret passages, while Legolas took notes.

And suddenly the youngest member of the family was a teenager.

There was extra cause for rejoicing as well.

The hair had returned!

Meanwhile...

"Legolas!" Erik yelled.  "Your dragon left a mess in Jareth's room!"

"Right on the hardwood, too," Gytha added.

"An egg?" Legolas asked, peering at it.  "But she's not supposed to be able to..." He broke off, as a horrifying thought crossed his mind.

"LUNA!" he screeched.  "Where's that monster?"

"With Jareth," she answered calmly, sticking her head in the room.  "Oooh, we're going to have a baby?" she asked, coming over to coo over the egg.

Legolas stalked into the kitchen.

"I hope you're happy, Jareth," he began, and then dove under the table.

"Whatever are you going on about, elf?" the Goblin King asked him.  Smaug let a trickle of smoke curl from his lip.

"That beast has got my poor Tueth in the family way!" Legolas' shaky voice came from under the furniture.  "Who knows what kind of devil spawn he's created."

"It's going to be fine, Legolas," Gytha chuckled.  "Tooth's not the first girl to get her head turned by a flashy set of wings."

"It's hatching!" Luna called.  "And there's music!  It sounds kind of familiar, but I can't quite place it."

"It's purple," Erik added.

The dragonet split it's shell and cried out in joy...

"Hi, kids!"

"Ahhhhh!" Tia screamed.  "It's Barney!"

"Oh, you are so cute!" Luna exclaimed, scooping the little beast up.

"You were right, Legolas, it is the spawn of hell," Tia whispered.  "We've got to get a box or something to lock it up..."

"You're super-de-duper, Luna," Barney said, flapping his wings.

"Super-de-what-now?" Erik asked.

The purple dragon began to sing, "I love you, you love me,"

Jareth came in, still carrying Smaug, who took one look at the warbling creature in Luna's arms and turned away in disgust.  "That is my offspring?" he asked.

"Oh, yes, O great and mighty one," Legolas said, laughing.

Thanks, Shewolf, I couldn't help myself!   ;D

Chapter Forty-One - Luna Lovegood and the Ambrosia of Immortality

It was winter once again.  The Dynasty was bored.  Really, really bored.

"Your last symphony was quite exquisite, Erik," Jareth said, sincerely.

"And that last masterpiece of yours was super-de-duper," Erik replied.

"Someone tell me that purple monster is locked back in his box," Legolas sighed.  "If it comes out with that Barney Bag and suggests crafts one more time, I'm going to gut it myself."

"Luna would be heartbroken," Jareth pointed out.  "She says confining it is cruel."

"Lettin' it run loose is cruel," Gytha said.  "It keeps singin' at me about sammiches, of all things!"

"Let's face it, we've got to get out of the house for a while.  We're all going stir crazy."  Indy said.

"Right, then, lad, everyone to the motive mobile.  Must be time for the winter festival!"  Gytha said.  "Might be some new faces there."

"You drive, Indy, you need the practice," Rusty said.

"Why do you kids always have to learn to drive in blizzards?" Erik asked, as the van skidded once or twice.

"I can do donuts, Legolas taught me how," Indy told him.  "Wanna see?"

"NO!" came the shrieks from the back.

"Not a lot of folk about," Gytha said, looking around.  "Bit cold, too."

"Combined wisdom of four generations and nobody thought to bring a coat?" Tia muttered.

"I've got Smaug, I'll bet we could have a cheery blaze going in no time," Jareth replied.

"How about skating instead?" Luna asked.  "Smaug hates being woken up from his nap."

"Skating it is!" Legolas quickly agreed.

"Well, Luna," Tia asked, after they got home and she had settled Dubstep for the night.  Tomorrow's the big day.  How are you feeling about it?"

"I think I've got it all finished," Luna said.  "We got the nargles out of the park.."

"The ops were a little worrying, though, but that's done.  I wish Loki could be here, though."

"But I'm ready."

And so, as happens in all dynasties, Luna's elder birthday rolled around.

And after a quick phone call from Loki, who mentioned sending her a new gift, and Jareth banging out her art, she got her makeover...

Ate her ambrosia...

and went back to the most important thing in her life.
