Y'know, for being Arlo's grandchild, Luna is actually very adorable!
I always thought Arlo was kind of adorable in a weird way. Not handsome, but definitely adorable.
Not to be technical, but isn't she his great-grandchild?
Gytha -> Erik -> Legolas -> Luna :)

Luna is lovely, that Arlo nose is still hanging through.

That's what I get for posting while tired and distracted. :P

In all seriousness, I love that his features have perpetuated this far. Call me odd--his nose has grown on me. :P

Here we are at Gen 5, and I have a feeling the whole rest of the Dynasty will look like Arlo.  But I still hold my breath every time a kid ages up.  Wait till you see the twins as old men.   ;)

At the risk of redundancy, I must say that there is something very lovely and sweetly charming about Luna.  I really enjoy how she is the level-headed peacekeeper in the family even when she was just a child...and don't even get me started on how much I enjoy doting Jareth!

Luna and Neville were my favourite characters in the books, I admit it.  She just says what she feels.

Oh, Luna is just terrific!  Her conversation was Loki made me all warm and tingly inside.  Hehehe, I'm sure Jareth is glad to get a child that might not be so into the pranking.  So he's perfectly fine with searching for the little beasties.  And I rather like the look of Luna.  Taken separately, her features are odd, but I think all together, she looks adorable, but even more, I can see some beauty there as well.

In game Luna and Jareth are always seeking each other out.  It's so cool.  And she and Loki are also besties.  I think Luna's looks kind of resemble her personality, off beat, not what everyone expects, but there's something very endearing about her.

Loki's big speech at city hall really cracked me up.  ;D Plus just smiling for the photo shoot afterward, hahaha! Well, at least Luna is there to cheer him up. She's surprisingly adorable, even though she did get "the nose."

Glad you liked the speech, Rhoxi.  I don't think we'll ever see the end of the nose, though.  And Gen 7 will not be happy with it, I predict that much.

Chapter Thirty-Three - The Yule Prom

The winter set in, heavy snow falling every day, and Luna had two snow days in a row.  Not that the time was wasted, of course.  What better time to learn to drive than in a wintry blizzard in the motive mobile with your criminal mother?

"I'm sure she's fine, Jareth," Raina told him when she got home.  For some reason she'd dropped Luna off downtown and driven herself home alone.

Luna, a serene and resourceful girl, was quite happy to make her way home alone, keeping an eye out for Nargles as she did so.  But there would be one aspect of Sunset Valley that Luna would never quite wrap her head around.

Curfew.

"The police were very nice to me, Jareth," Luna told him, as she explained why she'd come home in the cruiser.  "They said I had to be home by a certain time, but I explained that there were animals that only came out at night that I wanted to study."

"I would have Loki put the fear of, well, him, since he still insists he's a god, into them down at city hall, but he came home and told us he's decided to quit."

"Really?" Luna asked, with wide eyes.  "I think he'll be much happier without having to deal with all the committees anymore."

"He says he intends to enjoy himself from now on.  I cannot fathom what that will entail, but I'm sure it will be disruptive to someone." Jareth said, pinching the bridge of his nose.  "The idea of him and Legolas with nothing but free time on their hands gives me a migraine."

"No more votes for you, then, Loki?" Luna asked, as they made a snowman the next day.

"I listened to a wise friend and decided that what I really wanted to do was play," he told her with a grin.  "I thought I could help you with your supermax skill while I'm here, and I did make some contacts regarding that creature we were speaking of.  It may take a little longer to arrive than I originally thought, though."

"That would be lovely," Luna replied. "Do you think they will still have the Yule Prom today, considering that it's Snowflake Day?  I'm a little worried about it, I haven't even been to a day of high school yet."

"I'm positive you'll have a wonderful time, Luna." Loki told her, with an odd little smile.

****

"Let me see if I've got this right," Jareth asked, after Luna had come home from the Prom and excitedly gushed about everything that happened.  "Before the ball even started, you snuck into the school and released fifty thousand frogs from the biology lab, yes?"

"Yes, of course," Luna said.  "They were in for a horrible fate."

"That's Nanny's girl," Gytha said.  "Never know if there's a prince hidin' in with them frogs."

"And then you were elected Prom Queen?  Without knowing a single person there?"  His eyes flickered to Loki who shrugged.

"Legolas and I did a little campaigning while you were napping.  Are you suggesting she didn't deserve to be Prom Queen?"

"Not at all!"  Jareth exclaimed.

"Tell us about the boy," Gytha said, pulling Luna into a hug.

"Yes, this boy, Rory?  He told you how happy money made him, did he?" Jareth fumed.

"Little golddigger," Raina said with disdain.

"People in glass houses, my dear," Jareth snarked at her.

"And then, even though I was Yule Queen, I got into a fight with another girl who said I stole her crush!"  Luna said, puzzled.  "I don't know why he's listed as a Romantic Interest, there was nothing Romantic or Interesting about him."

"Or still working about him, when I find him." Jareth muttered.  "Toying with our Luna's affections to get hold of her money!"

"I'm still in the room," Raina protested.

"Yes, but we had an arrangement," Legolas put in from the other side of the hall.

"Really, it was nothing, Jareth."  Luna told him.

"Nothing? Nothing, tra la la?" he roared.

"Not really." Luna soothed him.  "The frogs were much better company than he was, at any rate."

Rory?  As in, the game happened to have a fellow named that, or are you bringing in another beloved character?

No, sorry, Pip, it's just a random game kid.  Besides, I just can't picture the Last Centurion being a creepy little golddigger... ;D

Get 'im Jareth! Don't let those gold-diggers get to Luna!
I loved how this chapter was written out, just Luna being herself and everyone is in love with her because of that - even the Goblin King. I can't wait to see the next generation. It's always a tossup - will it be another Arlo nose? Most likely!

It's exactly what happened at her prom, Livvie.  I was so startled I got my pencil and started jotting it all down, so I wouldn't forget any of it.   :D

Luna does feature in Girls Next Door, but it's quite a bit farther into the story.

Oh Luna... the frogs.  I love the frogs.

I had this vision of all these teenagers trying to dance without stepping on fifty thousand frogs.  With the disco ball and Lorde's Royals playing...

Thanks!  We all miss the hair, I admit.  NotGwendy is trying to explain to me a way for me to put it back in...so here's hoping. ;)

Would you post all the immortal stats? I'm having trouble keeping it straight.

Ask and you shall receive, my dear...

Interlude - The Book Of Jareth - As Told by Legolas Thanduilion and Loki Laufeyson

LO!, in the beginning, the King of Goblins made a foolish bet with a mortal, yea, a woman of flawless beauty and uncertain temper whose very presence filled his heart with song and did make the Monarch swoon with desire.

Loki: It's a little flowery, bro...

Legolas:  (shrugging)  I'm an elf, dude, we have to do flowery, overblown, six words where one would do.  Cultural stuff, y'know.

Loki:  Needs more stirring epicness.  Try this...

For the mighty Sarah Williams would never been won by words and promises alone.  It would require deeds of an heroic nature to win this proud and majestic beauty, and thus, on bended knee, the humbled and despised King did vow that he would complete any task she set him to prove himself and his right to declare himself her suitor.

Legolas: Not bad.  I was there, so I'll tell this next part...

And LO!, having been recently dazzled by the daring and difficult exploits of the elf, Legolas, who recounted the tale with such skill that he did bring his listeners to tears, she set upon the King the nigh impossible task of completing the Immortal Dynasty Challenge.  For LO!, the quest was so dangerous and deadly that it had taken the elf five attempts to overcome and win everlasting glory.  And LO!, thus was the Goblin King Dynasty created...

Loki: What's with the LO! all the time?

Legolas: Think of it as Elf Tourette Syndrome.

Loki:  Gotcha...so then what happened?

So with the help of the Watcher known as Tia, Jareth the Goblin King was sent to Sunset Valley with a set of specific goals and restrictions upon his person.  Should he fail, the consequences would be dire...

Loki:  I'm telling the next part, you'll get all bogged down describing Agnes and we'll be here all day.

The King, realizing he would need an helpmeet to aid in his daunting task, set his will to convincing the most stubborn and powerful widow in all the world, Agnes of the Crumplebottom, to join him.  She sat daily, in her dark tower, shrouded in black, mourning the death of her most beloved husband.  She rebuffed the proud Goblin King who continued to press her into making an alliance that would give him mighty advantage in the years to come.  Again and again she sent him away, her eyes flashing with the fire of a Valkyrie, determined to never disgrace the memory of her valiant husband, killed in battle on the high seas...

Tia: (interjecting) I think he drowned in the pool at the Motel 8, actually...

Loki and Legolas: (glares of doom)

Tia (backing away) Fine, tell it your way...

Legolas:  Thank you, I will...

Before all was lost, LO!, the King revealed himself as a mighty being of great power and wisdom...

Loki: (chuckle)

Legolas: (grins)  You describe him them...

One of the fair folk who possessed the secrets of time and made great and binding promises to return the widow to a time before sorrow beset her life and make provision for the restoration of her great love to her.  Thus, Agnes of the Crumplebottom weakened and traded her tower of solitude for the servitude of a lifetime of Dynasty slavery.  She proved most able and courageous, refusing to bend completely to the Monarch's will.

The King had planned that his next heir would be his boon companion of the otherworld, Erik the Phantom.  But such was the bravery and dedication of the widow that he was lulled into a sense of complacency and broke a geas placed upon him.  In punishment, he was not allowed the knowledge of how to guarantee a male heir.  He sought the wisdom of the elves in this matter, knowing them for valiant and glamorous creatures...

Legolas:  Thank you.

Loki: Not at all...would you like to continue?

Legolas: Certainly.

But the elves paid no heed to the pleas of the proud King, seeking to humble him for certain of his remarks.  And LO!, the King in his desperation, took the advice of a dubious Oracle, scribbled on a crumpled, coffee-stained napkin.  And his plans came to naught, giving him a female heir.

Tia: Guys, just give his stats, will you?

Loki:  That's your job.

Tia:  Fine!

Jareth, the Goblin King  (Generation One)

Loki: (pointedly) May we continue?

Tia: (sighing) Can I stop you?

Legolas: Nope.

Tia:  Go for it.  Loki?

Thus with the arrival of Gytha, the Lady of Tir Nani Ogg, a comely and fulsome child,  the second generation embarked on the quest.  The King quickly grew to love this precocious child and though he tried to guide her steps to fulfill her destiny, her remarkable good humor and quick wits made her more than his equal.  She chose her path boldly, ready to refuse the husband the king chose for her, until the comely youth, Arlo the Bunch won her heart with his flowery words and romantic kisses...

Loki and Legolas: (shudder)

Legolas:  (squaring his shoulders and taking a deep breath)  I'll do it, Loki...

And from the passion of these two inseparable lovers came the third heir, Erik the Phantom.  But Erik bore a grudge against the King, who had tricked him by promising to return him to a whole and delightful state.  While the child was whole and hearty, the King had refrained from telling him he would bear a most uncomfortable resemblance to a goblin.  Erik began to foment plans of his own for revenge up on the dread King.

Loki: Dread King, I like that.

Legolas:  Thanks.  Would you like to tell about the curse?

Loki:  Okay.

The King, with his high handed behavior had incurred the wrath of not only the Fates, but of the warrior-hearted Sarah Williams as well.  Many penalties were placed upon his house and the Fates took a hand directly, cursing him so that every time the King advanced in his quest, he would be thrown back in time to repeat the same actions again and again.  Many remedies were sought, but in the end it was only the wisdom of the great Wizard Metro Man and his acolytes, Nutella, Ratchie and Blackrosea that allowed the curse to be lifted and the Dynasty proceed.  Gytha had completed her part, more than once, and was finally allowed to take her place at the immortal table.

Gytha - Nanny Ogg (Generation Two)

Legolas: I'll talk about Erik, I guess.

Now Erik the Phantom had appealed to the justice of the great and good Sarah Williams and LO! was given many privileges and boons.  He enlisted the help of Arlo the Bunch and not trusting to the King to find him a wife of good standing to espouse, used magic to bring his love, Mag the Blind, across time and space and inhabit the body of his beloved toy.  Erik and Mag delighted in playing tricks on the King, bringing him to the edge of despair many times and reminding him that he was not omnipotent.

Loki: My turn.

Brave Erik the Phantom suffered from the curse placed on the King and vowed to continue to plot against him.  Vengeance raged in his heart and he turned to destroying appliances instead of wreaking havoc on the citizens of Sunset Valley.  But the King persevered in his efforts to make amends to the man who had once been his best companion, whom he had shared many a mug of mead with.  In singing over the old ballads, especially the saga known as Sweet Home Alabama, the rift was mended.  Erik sired on Mag the Blind his twin sons, Legolas and Loki, who would change the family forever.

Tia: I've got no picture of Elder Erik!

Legolas:  (shrugs)  That's not our fault.  Just post his stats, and dig through the photo albums later...

Loki:  We'll need another book for our exploits, bro.

Tia: I'm keeping it all written down, y'know.

Legolas:  Cool.  C'mon, dude, let's go show this to Jareth!
