RIP Mag, but Raina's questionable workout tactics might not bode well for her either. Sports injuries are serious things.

Luna is cute! Even with that Bunch nose. It might not work as well in the future, but she's currently a cute little thing.

In a way, this is two things: one part I always see when you update is all the characters melding together, the second is how long it will take to breed out Arlo's nose. Haha.

I was wondering about that head-count in the house prior to seeing Mag die - I knew she had to be getting up there, but I wasn't sure if I just missed it or something. It has been a while and I should probably re-read through here to get a general idea, but we've got Jareth, Gytha, Erik, Legolas, Loki, Raina and Luna, if I'm keeping good track here.

Luna is far too polite, it's very sweet. Jareth has earned it though, after the years and years of teen pranks he's dealt with. I wonder what Legolas is going to do to keep him from getting complacent? I bet Sarah has a hand in it. ;D

Anyways, I'm in love with this story, you're doing so well!

Aww, RIP Mags.  Hehehe, can't wait to see what Legolas has in store for Jareth.  I really need to read the comic.

Oh my gosh!  I guess I'd just started to think of Mag as another one of the immortals.  That caught me slightly off guard.

Me too, Pip!  She was great to play.  I'm gonna miss her.

RIP Mag, but Raina's questionable workout tactics might not bode well for her either. Sports injuries are serious things.

I'll be honest with ya, Trip, Raina is behaving very questionably all around.  And I love how Luna turned out!

Aw, thanks, Livvie!  You're right, Jareth, Gytha and Erik are immortal, Raina is an elder, Legolas and Loki are adults, and Luna is a child.  So, pretty full house.

Aww, RIP Mags.  Hehehe, can't wait to see what Legolas has in store for Jareth.  I really need to read the comic.

It's a great read, I heartily recommend both Roommates and Girls Next Door.

Chapter Thirty-One - Loki Takes Charge

"Well, now, look at you!" Gytha exclaimed.  "Leader of the free world an' all!  Well done, Loki!"

"Yes, as of today, things are going to be changing around Sunset Valley!" Loki gloated.  "No more lobbying and mediating and holding meetings!  I'm holding a press conference this afternoon, if you'd like to attend."  There was a wicked gleam in his eye.

"Don't get your hopes up too high, my lad," she told him.  "Folks in this town are a little strange, if you ask me."

That afternoon, Jareth, after parking the motive mobile, wasn't quick enough to duck the shrill voice that cut through him like ice.

"Jareth!" Lisa screeched.  He winced.

"It's nice to see you, Lisa," he lied.

"Where's Erik these days?  He was supposed to have that hearing aid adjusted for me by now!"  Lisa yelled.  "All though I don't understand why I need a hearing aid, just because Darlene's taken to mumbling all the time."

"I think he's at the rally," Jareth yelled back, motioning to the steps of City Hall where a crowd was gathering.  "Loki is making some kind of proclamation, I understand."

The crowd milled about with excitement, wondering greatly about what Loki could have to say.  As it's curiosity rose to a fever pitch, Loki judged the time right and stepped out.  Cheers greeted him.

"As you know," he began, "yesterday I became your supreme leader!  Today I take total control of this world!  Kneel before me now and swear your allegiance!"

"What did he say?" Lisa yelled at Gytha, who was laughing outright.

"He wants us to kneel, Aunt Lisa," Erik said, shaking his head.

"On these knees?  I'll never get back up!" Lisa shouted.

"We don't swear allegiance, Loki," Morgana Wolf called.  "You do.  To serve and protect or something like that."

"No, that's the police, Morgana," Beau told her.  "Loki has to lay down his life in defense of us."

"Great, that means he's going to stop all the meteor strikes, then?"  Sandi French asked.  "It's about time someone did something about them."

Loki stared at them, open mouthed.

"Erik's been working on the theater since the last strike," Sandi continued.  "But you need to fill in the pot holes in the road, since you're the supreme leader now, Loki."

"But, but...you're supposed to cower in fear!" Loki shouted.

"We do, during meteor attacks," Beau said.

"No, no, in fear of me!" Loki screamed in frustration.

"Why would we fear you?" Sandi asked, puzzled.  "We've known you since you were a baby.  Gytha used to take you for walks in the park and you'd always slip your diaper and run starkers through the fair..."

Jareth took pity on the stunned Loki.  He made his way through the crowd and put an arm around him.

"What Loki means to say is that today shall be a holiday for all the citizens of Sunset Valley.  In an hour, a giant barbeque picnic will be provided for all of you, in thanks for all of your support for him."

"Jareth?" Loki asked, in a low voice, "what is happening?"

Jareth shrugged.  "Cut your losses and give them a good photo opportunity.  Try and come up with a plan that will work, before you embarrass yourself again."  He shook his head.  "This was just pitiful."

So Loki smiled and posed, and went back to plotting.

And this is why it's essentially pointless to try to take over a population of pseudo-grandparents. They all know your embarrassing childhood stories by heart and can't take you seriously for nothing.

Thanks, Pip.  I can't seem to keep him out of the cornrows, though.

Poor Loki, can't catch a break anywhere!

And this is why it's essentially pointless to try to take over a population of pseudo-grandparents. They all know your embarrassing childhood stories by heart and can't take you seriously for nothing.

Yep, and they'll tell all the visitors at the coronation why you're being called King Fuzzy Butt the Second...

Chapter Thirty-Two  - Luna Lovegood and the Slightly Crazy Family

"Well, Luna, what type of creature shall we search for today?" Jareth asked  her.

"I think the Bibbering Humdingers may be out again," she told him.  "But I'm wondering if they will just disguise themselves as Macaws again when we spot them."

"Perhaps we'll be luckier today," Jareth told her.  "There are some people I'd like you to meet as well."

"More potential husbands?" Luna asked.  "You do seem keen on finding someone quickly."

"It has to do with the arrangements, you see," Jareth explained.  "Sometimes it takes a while to set things up for them."

"We can't move anyone else in until Raina and Loki pass on anyway," Luna pointed out.

"Yes, but I do want you to have the widest choice possible, my dear," Jareth told her, with an affectionate smile.

And speaking of Raina...

"Congratulations, my girl!" Gytha said, as Raina proudly showed off her new outfit.  "Master Thief at last!"

"Thanks!" Raina said, beaming at her.  "Eighty-eight is pushing it, but I always knew I could do it!"

"Not without some hefty fines," Jareth muttered.

"Wait, that's not For She's a Jolly Good Fellow you're playing," Erik pointed out.

"No," Tia sighed, "It's Sweet Home Alabama.  I used to love that song, you know."

"We should go out to celebrate," Legolas said.  "Loki can put it on his expense account."

"Where is Loki?" Raina asked, with a twinkle in her eye.

"They like me, they vote for me, why won't they just proclaim me king?  It doesn't make any sense, Luna."

"Does it really matter?" Luna asked him.  "If you have the job and the power, does the fancy crown change anything?"

"But the throne..." Loki said.

"Is really just a big chair.  I'm sure we could buy you one, if it means that much to you.  Do you even enjoy being King, Loki?"

"I'm not King, Luna, just Leader of the Free World." Loki sighed.

"Who makes the decisions?" Luna asked.  "Who sets the taxes, fixes the problems, has all the responsibilities?"

"I do," Loki admitted.  "Do you know that Aunt Lisa burst into my office today and demanded that I pass a law that Aunt Darlene has to speak in loud, clear tones at all times?"  He shuddered.  "If I had guards, now..."

"There are no guards that could keep Aunt Lisa out," Luna told him.  "Even in Asgard."

"And tomorrow I have to figure out the budget again, to cover the cost of those infernal pot holes.  Sandi has got a committee together and they want me to beautify the town and find a place to put in a water park.  What do thirty-seven geriatrics want with a water park?"  Loki was getting frustrated.

"Maybe you should think about what you really want, Loki," Luna said kindly.  "You don't have to prove yourself to us, we all like you just the way you are.  Why don't you come with us tonight?  Erik created some extra special fireworks, and Nanny is taking us all to the cemetery to set them off.  She says some of her ghost friends need a little cheering up."

So Loki joined the family and they celebrated Raina's promotion with a fantastic firework show in the graveyard.  Nanny introduced Luna to her friends, and a great time was had by all.

"They were lovely people, Jareth," Luna said afterwards.  "Nanny's friends certainly do use some colourful language."

And then, before the family had a chance to catch its breath, Luna had her birthday.

I always thought Arlo was kind of adorable in a weird way. Not handsome, but definitely adorable.

Not to be technical, but isn't she his great-grandchild?
Gytha -> Erik -> Legolas -> Luna :)

Luna is lovely, that Arlo nose is still hanging through.

At the risk of redundancy, I must say that there is something very lovely and sweetly charming about Luna.  I really enjoy how she is the level-headed peacekeeper in the family even when she was just a child...and don't even get me started on how much I enjoy doting Jareth!

Oh, Luna is just terrific!  Her conversation was Loki made me all warm and tingly inside.  Hehehe, I'm sure Jareth is glad to get a child that might not be so into the pranking.  So he's perfectly fine with searching for the little beasties.  And I rather like the look of Luna.  Taken separately, her features are odd, but I think all together, she looks adorable, but even more, I can see some beauty there as well.

Loki's big speech at city hall really cracked me up.  ;D Plus just smiling for the photo shoot afterward, hahaha! Well, at least Luna is there to cheer him up. She's surprisingly adorable, even though she did get "the nose."

That's what I get for posting while tired and distracted. :P

In all seriousness, I love that his features have perpetuated this far. Call me odd--his nose has grown on me. :P
