Heheh.....too perfect! Of course there's absolute chaos while His Glitterness calls.
I've been working my way through GND, and it's hilarious. I think I might prefer it over Roomates!  :o
Awww....I feels special.  ::)

GND is more about the giggles, while Roommates goes into storytelling and great questions of life, if anyone is wondering.  Both are fantastic.

lol!  That was great!  I love this so much Tia.  It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside!

Thanks so much, Shewolf!  I'm always glad when it makes you happy!

Chapter Twenty-One - Groundhog Day Disaster

Gytha woke, cold.

"Here, now," Gytha protested.  "You can't say that!  You'll have Lessa down on us in a heartbeat, not to mention Pam!  And I'm not cold."

It was a dark and stormy night?

"Not a bit of it," Gytha said.  "Warm, lovely fall day."

By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way...

"Something wicked is goin' to ding you around the ear if you don't get on with it, Tia."  Gytha threatened.  "We all know it's coming."

Tia sighed.  "Fine."

It is given to witches to know the time of their deaths.  Great witches, such as Gytha, especially in Dynasty files, with the clock ticking down, have a pretty good inkling of when the Man In Black is planning a visit.

"It's been a lot of fun, Arlo, love," she said.

"I don't want you to grieve when I'm gone," he told her.  "You have a good time."

"Oh, I will, never worry!" she giggled.

And that night...

Thanks to Arlo's moodlet manager, the grieving was cut short.  Erik and Mag worked hard, dated a lot, and avoided Jareth's nagging.

"Anything?"

"Nope," Erik told him.

But they did take advantage of his not-so-sublte ploys.

"Stop frettin', my lad," Gytha told him.  "Erik still got two days to adult.  Lots of time."

***

Gytha woke, cold...

"Not this again," Gytha complained.  "Wait, I'm gettin' that deja two thing.  Jareth, are you muckin' with time again."

He held up his hands.  "It's not me.  What's going on, minion?"

"We've got a corrupted save file.  I'm playing from the last clean one.  Just go with it."

"Where's the hot tub?" Erik called, coming into the room.

"Never mind that, come spend some time with your dad," Gytha told him.  "He's dyin' again tonight."

"I am?" Arlo asked, looking up from his book.

"Gytha!  You're not supposed to know that!" Tia wailed.

Gytha shrugged.  "Not my fault.  Part of bein' a witch, that's all."

Arlo shrugged off his mortal coil and things went on pretty much as before.  Erik and Mag kept on dating...

Jareth started to obsessively carve pumpkins.

Which Mag just as obsessively smashed.

Erik turned himself into a ghost at the Fall Fair.

"Erik!" Gytha scolded.  "You put your skin back on right now, my lad!"

And there were evil snowmen...

"I'm sure she's in league with Sarah," Jareth remarked.

***

Gytha woke, cold...

"Now what?" Jareth stormed.

"The last saves didn't work.  I'm trying something else."  Tia said, her teeth on edge.  "Don't push it, Goblin King."

"Arlo?" Gytha said, poking him.  "Wanna do somethin' fun today, it being your last and all?"

"Gytha!" Tia wailed.

So Arlo died again, Erik and Mag dated some more, making them the first couple Tia had ever played that saw darn near every movie showing, Jareth and Gytha dueled around the house...which Tia redid, out of boredom.

"Things seem to have calmed down," Jareth said.

***
And Gytha woke, cold, again.

"Morning, all," Arlo said cheerfully.

"Alright, gang, listen up," Tia said.  "I've got one more thing to try."

"I hope it works, this is worse than traveling with that friend of Jamie's with the phone box." Jareth muttered.

"It's going to take some sacrifice." Tia admitted.  "But I can't play this same three weeks over again.  I'll run mad."

"You haven't already?" Jareth snarked.

"It's either this or we start all over.  In the nice field with the nice mailbox.  And I will hook you up with the poorest woman in Sunset Valley, GK." Tia threatened.

"What do we need to do?" Gytha asked.

"First, I need to know how attached Jareth is to that hair."  Tia said.

"Oh, no, not the hair..." he said.

"Sunburns, sleeping bags..." Tia said.

"Fine!" he snapped.  "But you'd better find something suitable."

"How far back?" Arlo asked.

"Well..." Tia sighed...

"Happy Birthday, Erik."

Note:

"Gytha woke, cold." is an homage to the first line of the awesome Dragonflight, a book by the late great Anne McCaffery.

I think I've got a handle on the glitch in the game, but things are going to be a little different...

Gytha woke, cold.

Even with the Lessa-and-Pam comment in the next line, it took entirely too long to recognise that. *Marks down Pern books for re-reading after Christmas goodies.*

So sorry to hear about your bugs.  Replaying that much has to be pretty soul-destroying.  Good luck!

My heart aches for you Tia. I have so been there...

Best of luck with your new run, and I certainly hope things go well. I'm very, truly sorry for the issues.
Hopefully you can work it out. :) I'm rooting from you, but I totally understand if it gets too frustrating - I think all of us have been there!
I envy your patience with it. I have no idea how you do it. :)

I am so sorry Tia.

You know, I'm wondering if wishing people 'good luck' in Sims 3 Dynasty challenges results in them having bad luck with regards to their saved games, much like the actor's superstition about that, and they instead say "break a leg".

In any case, I trust that the saved game of this attempt by you behaves properly, or I'll send Ann Oid over to talk to your saved game for you. :)

I am so sorry to hear that you have to replay this much of your Dynasty Tia. I wish you the best of luck!

Having said that, the way you wrote about it and included it in your story is pure genious. If anything, the corrupted file save made for a killer update. Just hang in there during the re-playing!

This is so good and so much fun!  How have I missed this?  Loving the blend of beloved characters.  Also, the usage of a glitch as an actual part of the storyline is quite brilliant!  Sorry that the glitch happened, but delighted at how much fun you made it!

I just love how casual Gytha is with Arlo dying. At least now they can relive just about their entire relationship over again.

And sorry about your game glitching and having to go back so far. At least they're not all trying to sleep in sleeping bags in the kitchen, or something.

Thank you, Livvie, I'm having way too much fun with this story to give it up!  (And I'm just stubborn  ;) )

I think you might be right, Dek, and we should start saying "Break a plumbob" or something.  Tell Ann to keep her hammer ready, just in case... ;D

Thanks, Pip, I love to entertain!

Wow...that is one heck of a glitch. :/ Amazing how you worked it into the storyline though. Very clever!

Thank you, RaiaDraconis!  The worst of it was I thought I had it beat and then it would happen again...

And sorry about your game glitching and having to go back so far. At least they're not all trying to sleep in sleeping bags in the kitchen, or something.

Thanks, sweetie, it could have been a lot worse.  At least I could fix it, but I did bang my head on the keyboard a couple times.  And Gytha's just very practical...she kept popping wishes for a bachelorette party every time he died.

So, everyone, thanks again for all the good luck and wishes.  I've removed all the cc I had and put it into a factory reset and it seems to be behaving itself.  Bringing us to...

Chapter Twenty-Two - Ch-ch-ch-changes!

Jareth was not happy.

So very, very, not happy.

"Ho, snap!" Tia said, shocked.  "I don't think the game likes you, GK.  That's pretty brutal."

"I am going to finish this painting.  Then I am going to the mirror.  You will find me some hair, minion," he said, through clenched teeth.  "Preferably, some that covers my head."

Mag was a little different, too.

Still cute as a button, but without her delightful rebellious trait.  Not to say that she and Erik didn't pull pranks on Jareth, but it just wasn't the same without his hair.  Everyone mourned the hair.

Gytha added Putting out paparazzi who spontaneously combust on the lawn to her resume.

Arlo, Gytha and the kids all aged up.  Some things definitely stayed the same.

"I don't mind if you ground me, Arlo, but please do not make me remove the whoopie cushion."

"The what kind of cushion?" Gytha asked, with a wicked grin.

"Whoopie, Gyth!" Tia said.  "Family friendly around here, remember?"

Arlo started to go senile.  There was no denying it.  He gave up his former activites and started staring at the sunflowers in the greenhouse.  Then he went to pick fights with Jareth.

Jareth didn't seem to mind, though.

"It shows he's tough enough to deal with some of the smarter goblins," he shrugged.

"Was all that dyin' he did," Gytha lamented.  "Takes a toll on a body, it does."

Gytha re-did all her requirements.  Erik snuck away from the inventing table.

"Watcher above, Erik!" Tia screamed.  "Don't just stand there, run!"

"You'd better not come back expecting, either," Jareth yelled.

"Not without the young alien's name and address," Gytha added.

And there were phone calls back and forth.

"Tony had to back out, Jareth," James told him.  "He said something about a new prototype, blew up the shed and left.  A few people have offered to take his place.  Luna, although Sarah's trying to talk her out of it, Loki, both Bruces, Wayne and Banner, and someone who's calling himself Mister J."

"I'll go over it with Tia," Jareth told him.

"When is Mag coming back?" James asked him, his voice tense.

"That's up to her, apparently."  Jareth sighed.  "Hopefully I'll see you soon, Jamie."

"Jareth?" Sarah whispered into the phone, "Where's Erik?  I can't get him on the phone!"

"Nice to hear from you too, Precious," Jareth purred.  "He's at school, they won't let him answer calls there."

"I need to talk to him, Jareth!  Immediately!"  She paused, turning her flashlight into the darkness of the cellar.  "It's really important."

"Of course, Sarah.  Anything you need.  But I do have a request."

Sarah froze, hearing a thudding coming from behind the wall of the basement, to her left.  She motioned Javert towards it.

"Not now, Jareth," she hissed.

"I insist, it's only a small favour," he smiled.

"What?" she asked in a very quiet voice, as Javert swung the sledge hammer, knocking a hole in the wall, opening a way to the secret tunnel behind it.  The sound of running feet was very distinct.

"I want you to let them get married and have a child without all those tiresome wishes," he said.  "We had a bit of a temporal setback, you realize..."

Sarah looked up as dust and the sound of sawing came from the ceiling above her.  She pulled the phone from her ear and pointed upwards, whispering, "James!"

"Fine, Jareth.  Only one of them has to wish it. Tell Erik to call me immediately, I need the plans to all his secret tunnels.  I have to go."  She hung up the phone and followed Javert into the secret passage.

There was some kind of terrible Spooky Day accident in the hallway...

Gytha and Arlo went to a game...

"You have got some serious issues.  I'm outa here!" Gytha said.

"Wait, hold up, what's all this about?"

They wouldn't tell Tia.  They went to being romantic interests.  Tia started rubbing her eyebrow again.

The kids graduated.  Arlo and Gytha got their relationship bar filled back up but stayed romantic interests.

Arlo alternated between flirting and insulting Gytha.  She sighed and put up with it.

And Mag popped a wish to marry Erik!

"Aww, who picked up the Hopeless Romantic trait, then," Tia cooed.

The wedding was the next day.

Jareth, Gytha and Arlo all headed off to the spa to give the kids some time alone.  Where Arlo, completely unexpectedly, popped his clogs for what Tia desperately hoped was the last time.

"Right this way, Your Excellency," Grim said.  "The goblins have prepared a small reception in your new office."

So Arlo was gone.  Off to his new life.  But not without leaving a small, unanticipated, legacy behind him.

Wha?  *tilts head at the last picture, trying to figure out what's going on*  You always make things so interesting!  I'm glad it seems to be going better.  Seeing Jareth without his hair is very sad though.  Sorry GK.
