LOL! She becomes singed every time she does her homework?! That is too funny! Her and Jareth's conversations are just too awesome!
It's not even like she's studying chemistry! The game does strange things,
*Just a quick note here, I'm going to be on vacation for the next 2 weeks with no laptop. Updates will continue as soon as I get back.
Chapter Eleven - The Best Laid Plans of Goblin Kings...After Agnes' disastrous birthday party, at which a vampire starved to death, Gytha flirted, Jareth schemed and everyone forgot to light the candles, the family decided to celebrate with a Spooky Day visit to the festival.
"Jareth? Why don't you try the pie eatin' contest?" Gytha laughed.
"Hmph! I know you're sneaking phone pictures to Sarah," he grumbled.
"Bobbing apples, then," Agnes smiled.
Proving once again that the family that plays together stays together. Agnes won, as Jareth was too worried about his hair going flat to really get into the spirit of the thing.
Gytha spotted Malcom and went over to chat and flirt a bit. Jareth gave her a stern look, which changed to a sly smile as Gytha stuck her tongue out at him and went on her way.
Winter was set for 7 days, so the snow flew hard and heavy the next day, giving Gytha the first of her snow days. She invited Jareth to make some snowmen with her.
"Why don't you invite that boy from Prom over?" Jareth asked her. "He's your Romantic Interest right now. What's his name, again?"
"Reggie," Gytha grunted, lifting the heavy snowball. "I might, then again I might not. Y'seem awful keen on him."
"He's a bright lad, friendly, and does well in school. Also, he's completely taken with you, Gytha. You could do a lot worse."
Meanwhile, Agnes was finishing some goals of her own.
"Agnes," Tia said, wanting to hug her, "you are the best! You've gone above and beyond!"
"I"m not taking any chances," she said, smiling. "I've got one more thing I want to do before the end. A special gift for Gytha."
"I'm impressed, the only LTRs you have are the Steel Bladder and that Midlife Crisis. I'm glad you decided on that one."
"It made my work that much easier," Agnes shrugged. "But I do miss the arguments with Jareth, sometimes."
"They grow on you, don't they?"
Gytha's birthday fell on Snowflake Day. The family decided to throw a party.
"I'll take care of the guest list, Jareth. Don't you worry about a thing. Our Agnes is trying out a few of my special recipes."
"Agnes!" Jareth yelled, pounding down the hall to the kitchen. "Put down the cinnamon!" Gytha laughed at his retreating back. She pulled out her phone and started inviting people.
This party was, in contrast to the last, quite a smash. Guests flooded in and crowded the small living room.
Jareth mingled, making a point to chat up Gytha's boyfriend, Reggie. He sidled up to Agnes and said in a loud whisper, "Where are all the girls?"
"She invited all her special best friends, Jareth. There wasn't room for all of them." She pulled him into the bathroom for a private chat. "Promise me that you'll respect her choice, Jareth. Even if it isn't the man you'd have picked for her."
"Oh, my dear Agnes," he smiled. "He's in the living room."
Having learned from Jareth's mistakes, Gytha aged up in the bathroom and looked even more ravishing. She smiled at herself and went out to take care of certain plans of her own.
"Agnes! We've got a goblin!" Jareth yelled, stumbling upon the creature in the greenhouse. "Finally! I didn't realize how much I'd miss the little cretins!"
"It's a garden gnome, Jareth," Agnes said dryly.
"Nonsense, I recognize a goblin when I see one! Minion! Time to build that goblin pit!"
Jareth had the good sense to age up at the beehives this time.
He snuck in through the back door and stood in front of the mirror.
"Just fix it!" he snapped.
So he and Agnes retired to the studio where he serenaded her as she painted her third and last portrait.
As Agnes put down her brushes, there was a flash of lightning and a crash of thunder. Jareth put the guitar down.
"What's said is said," he told her, taking her hands. "Your new life is waiting for you, my dear. I want you to know it's been an absolute pleasure working with you." Surprisingly, Agnes burst into tears. He gathered her into his arms and held her.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, wiping away tears with her sleeve. "I didn't really know if we would get it all done. It's just such a relief to know it was all worth it."
She sat down with him as he ate his ambrosia.
"Gytha?" Jareth called, when the sparkles were done and he'd washed the dishes. "It's done!"
"Oh, hello," he said,
"I see you've been busy..."
