Can anyone else say amazingly and super adorable? 'Cause I can. And I'm saying it a lot!

Gytha is one of the most adorable Sim children I've ever seen! Oh, I can't wait to see her when she's older, but I'm so pleased with how she is now! What to think about this, I just don't know!

Jareth and Agnes may not have the most conventional relationship, nor does Agnes with Gytha, but it works nonetheless, and I love to read about it.

Okay, Shewolf, you've got me!   :P

Thanks so much, Scalec! I'm really happy you're enjoying the story.  Gytha is quite the cutie!

Chapter Nine - Bargains and Birthdays

On Saturday, Jareth returned to find the house full of children, their running feet and gleeful shrieks drowning out all other noise.  He thought he saw Gytha's red head in the herd, before they disappeared out the back door and into the garden.  He smiled and took off his coat, looking through the rooms for Agnes.

The front door crashed open and the throng of kids, Gytha in the lead, swarmed around him, clutching onto him by the waist and all yelling "Home! Safe!"  He raised his hands up and laughed as the group nearly toppled him.

"What's all this, then?" he asked.

"Freeze tag." Gytha told him.  "You're home base."

Jareth gently disentangled himself from the bunch, laughing, and called for Agnes.  She stuck her head out of the kitchen door.

"Oh, good, you're home!" she said.  "Can you come in here for a moment?"

"What's the occasion?" he asked her, gesturing to the gaggle of kids.  "It's not Gytha's birthday yet, is it?"

"She just invited a few friends over, that's all," Agnes grinned.

"A few?"

"She does have a lot,"  Agnes replied.  "But I have something serious to discuss with you.  Or rather, show you."  He got a coffee while she pulled ingredients out of the fridge.  Jareth began to have some inkling of what she was about.  He watched in silence as she chopped and mixed, then took the bowl to the kitchen's newest appliance.

"Agnes, my dear," Jareth began, but she held up her hand.

"We sold the car, you have your heir, and you now have 60 servings of Ambrosia.  Once I paint the last two portraits, my part of the bargain will be complete.  I expect you to keep yours, Jareth, the Goblin King."

"My very dear Mrs Darling!" Jareth exclaimed, taking her hands.  "Nothing can stop it."

The solemnity of the moment was destroyed by Gytha and her friends stampeding into the kitchen, clamouring for snacks.  Agnes laughed and pulled out the cookies.

"Hey, cool! A replicator!" Tracie yelled.  "What's in it?"

Faster than lightning Jareth was in front of the machine, shooing the children away.  "YOU WILL NOT TOUCH THIS!" he boomed at them.

"Ooh, Gyth, your dad's freaky looking when he's mad.  Are his eyes glowing?"  Chandra asked, nibbling her cookie.

Jareth shot a desperate look at Agnes, who was wiping the counter, shoulders shaking.

"'S'alright, it's just how Our Jareth is," Gytha replied.  "Last one to the park has to do somethin' awful!"

Later that night, when the last of the neighbour's kids had gone home and Gytha was having her bath, Jareth flopped into the living room rocker.  His nerves were starting to unwind when he felt the tingle.

"Agnes!  Gytha!" he called.  "I think I'm having my birthday."

"That might not be a good idea," Tia told him.  "You might want to do this in private because I don't know how well your hair..."

"Oh, hush, minion," he snapped.  "Agnes!  There's glitter!"

Agnes came rushing in, waving a little noisemaker and Gytha sloshed in, still wet from her bath.

"Well?" Jareth said, once the glitter had dissipated.  "How cool am I now?"

There was silence.

"BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"  Agnes, Gytha and Tia began rolling around the floor.

"The three of you are just horrid." he fumed.  Gytha tried to find her phone, while holding her sides.

"Sarah will die laughing when she sees this!"

"No pictures." Jareth said in a flat voice.  He stormed off to the bathroom mirror.

"Oh..o..kay," Tia giggled.  "I'll fix it, your...your...majesty...hee...heee."

"Where are my blue tips?" Jareth demanded.

"I like this," Tia said.  "But you had blue tips..on the..other...mwhahahaha!  Did you want that back?" she asked, biting her lip and feigning innocence.

"You are the most insolent creature," he told her.

"Come on, Jareth," Agnes giggled.  "I'm ready to do your portrait now."

Gytha spent the last day of her childhood riding around on her new broomstick.  She thought the training wheels were a nice touch.

Jareth  continued to sculpt ice.

Gytha made a few phone calls before the glitter bomb hit.

"No, Chandra, you can't just start fryin' the eggs!  What have I told you, girl?  Hot pan, cold oil.  Otherwise it sticks like anythin'!  Of course your brother can't use the pan, he's a fairy!  They hates iron!"

Upon reaching her teen years, Gytha locked herself in the bathroom.  Agnes went to warn Jareth.  He was in the zone, finding that at least he could still command ice, as long as he didn't lick it.  The chips flew everywhere.

"JARETH!" Agnes called for the third time.  He turned off the chainsaw.

"What is it, my dear?"

"Do you remember when we talked about Gytha having mood swings and pushing her boundaries once she became a teenager?"

The Goblin King snorted.  "She's never respected a boundary in her life.  Why should she start now?"

"I think she's going for shock value this time.  The bigger fuss you make, the more she's going to keep it up."

"Why should I be shocked?  This is Gytha we're talking about, no?"

***
"Oh, yeah," Gytha thought.

"This is going to drive him spare!"

Seriously, I love this. :)

Aw, thanks, guys!  And to all the silent readers, I hope you are enjoying this as well.  I'm having a blast with it.

Chapter Ten - Boys, Boys, Boys!

Jareth got straight to work on Gytha's portrait, hair and all.  Gytha shrugged and headed out with one of her friends.

"You're taking all this very well, Jareth," Agnes told him from her perch on the stool.  "I suspect Gytha's going to be doing a lot of dating now.  She was very upset she couldn't have a boyfriend or two in the fourth grade."

"She can date whomever she likes, I've already decided on her husband," Jareth said nonchalantly.

"You've...what?" Agnes asked, her jaw dropping.

"You don't think I'd leave it up to her, do you?"  He paused in his painting.  "I've got this all planned, my dear."

"Jareth," Agnes began, ready to defend her child, "while I appreciate the nuances in royal marriages, you are not going to ruin the happiness of that girl!"

"Really, Agnes!" He turned to face her.  "I've become very fond of Gytha.  Do you really think I could force her into anything?"  He chuckled and turned back to her painting.

Gytha made many new friends at high school and pestered Jareth and Agnes to teach her to drive.  Jareth, still lacking two ice sculptures, was happy to hand the task to Agnes.  In the motive mobile, Gytha learned quickly, and once she was qualified, started driving around town with the van full of her friends.  Jareth caught her coming home just before curfew one night and stopped question her.

"Who were you out with tonight?" he asked.

"Just went to the theater with a few of the lads," she told him breezily.  "Mortimer, Mikey, Miraj.  Malcolm couldn't make it."

"Quite the collection of M's," Jareth laughed.  "I'd prefer it if you spent a little more time with boys your own age.  You're going to need a husband, and you don't want one that's at least a stage older than you."

Gytha shrugged.  "I don't particularly like most of the boys my age.  Men are so much more fun, don't ya think?"

"Gytha, you're a beautiful young woman, you don't want to throw your life away.  What about that boy who asked you to prom?"

"Oh, he's fine, but he's always so serious.  What's life without a few good laughs, I ask ya?"

"Well, the Bunch one, he's much too old for you.  Isn't he a werewolf now, as well?"

"Ethan?  Oh, he's a great dancer, that's all.  It's his brother who's the werewolf."

"I'm asking you to think about it carefully.  You want someone you can depend on, someone who'll be around, grow old with you."

Gytha looked pensive.  "S'okay, I haven't decided on anyone yet," she told him.

"Well, in the mean time, come and pose for your sculpture."

"Gettin' a lot of vampires in this town, Jareth."  Gytha told him.

"Hmm?" he said, over the chainsaw.

"Lots of vampires, I said!  And Darlene's gone and turned herself into a fairy, of all things!  Chandra was complainin' about having to do the dishes all the time since her brother can't touch the pots and pans."  She shook her head.  "Makes you wonder what this town is coming to!"

"Good thing you're doing the alchemy then," he grunted.  "You can make them all potent cures."

"Might have to at that," Gytha mumbled.

***

"Agnes, my dear, what is that smell?" Jareth asked.

"What was that, Jareth?" Agnes replied, looking up from her book.

"That smell.  It's reminiscent of the Bog of Eternal Stench.  Is the plumbing alright?"

"Oh, that," Agnes said.  "Gytha brought home a cat after school today.  It's a horrible looking thing, but she loves it."

Jareth paled.  "Greebo.  She managed to find Greebo."

"I don't understand it either, Greebo," Gytha told the cat.  "This happens every time I do my homework."

It's not even like she's studying chemistry!  The game does strange things,  ;D

*Just a quick note here, I'm going to be on vacation for the next 2 weeks with no laptop.  Updates will continue as soon as I get back.

Chapter Eleven - The Best Laid Plans of Goblin Kings...

After Agnes' disastrous birthday party, at which a vampire starved to death, Gytha flirted, Jareth schemed and everyone forgot to light the candles, the family decided to celebrate with a Spooky Day visit to the festival.

"Jareth?  Why don't you try the pie eatin' contest?" Gytha laughed.

"Hmph!  I know you're sneaking phone pictures to Sarah," he grumbled.

"Bobbing apples, then," Agnes smiled.

Proving once again that the family that plays together stays together.  Agnes won, as Jareth was too worried about his hair going flat to really get into the spirit of the thing.

Gytha spotted Malcom and went over to chat and flirt a bit.  Jareth gave her a stern look, which changed to a sly smile as Gytha stuck her tongue out at him and went on her way.

Winter was set for 7 days, so the snow flew hard and heavy the next day, giving Gytha the first of her snow days.  She invited Jareth  to make some snowmen with her.

"Why don't you invite that boy from Prom over?" Jareth asked her.  "He's your Romantic Interest right now.  What's his name, again?"

"Reggie," Gytha grunted, lifting the heavy snowball.  "I might, then again I might not.  Y'seem awful keen on him."

"He's a bright lad, friendly, and does well in school.  Also, he's completely taken with you, Gytha.  You could do a lot worse."

Meanwhile, Agnes was finishing some goals of her own.

"Agnes," Tia said, wanting to hug her, "you are the best!  You've gone above and beyond!"

"I"m not taking any chances," she said, smiling.  "I've got one more thing I want to do before the end.  A special gift for Gytha."

"I'm impressed, the only LTRs you have are the Steel Bladder and that Midlife Crisis.  I'm glad you decided on that one."

"It made my work that much easier," Agnes shrugged.  "But I do miss the arguments with Jareth, sometimes."

"They grow on you, don't they?"

Gytha's birthday fell on Snowflake Day.  The family decided to throw a party.

"I'll take care of the guest list, Jareth.  Don't you worry about a thing.  Our Agnes is trying out a few of my special recipes."

"Agnes!" Jareth yelled, pounding down the hall to the kitchen.  "Put down the cinnamon!"  Gytha laughed at his retreating back.  She pulled out her phone and started inviting people.

This party was, in contrast to the last, quite a smash.  Guests flooded in and crowded the small living room.

Jareth mingled, making a point to chat up Gytha's boyfriend, Reggie.  He sidled up to Agnes and said in a loud whisper, "Where are all the girls?"

"She invited all her special best friends, Jareth.  There wasn't room for all of them."  She pulled him into the bathroom for a private chat.  "Promise me that you'll respect her choice, Jareth.  Even if it isn't the man you'd have picked for her."

"Oh, my dear Agnes," he smiled.  "He's in the living room."

Having learned from Jareth's mistakes, Gytha aged up in the bathroom and looked even more ravishing.  She smiled at herself and went out to take care of certain plans of her own.

"Agnes!  We've got a goblin!"  Jareth yelled, stumbling upon the creature in the greenhouse.  "Finally!  I didn't realize how much I'd miss the little cretins!"

"It's a garden gnome, Jareth," Agnes said dryly.

"Nonsense, I recognize a goblin when I see one!  Minion!  Time to build that goblin pit!"

Jareth had the good sense to age up at the beehives this time.

He snuck in through the back door and stood in front of the mirror.

"Just fix it!" he snapped.

So he and Agnes retired to the studio where he serenaded her as she painted her third and last portrait.

As Agnes put down her brushes, there was a flash of lightning and a crash of thunder.  Jareth put the guitar down.

"What's said is said," he told her, taking her hands.  "Your new life is waiting for you, my dear.  I want you to know it's been an absolute pleasure working with you."  Surprisingly, Agnes burst into tears.  He gathered her into his arms and held her.

"I'm sorry," she whispered, wiping away tears with her sleeve.  "I didn't really know if we would get it all done.  It's just such a relief to know it was all worth it."

She sat down with him as he ate his ambrosia.

"Gytha?" Jareth called, when the sparkles were done and he'd washed the dishes.  "It's done!"

"Oh, hello," he said,

"I see you've been busy..."

Congratulations on the Goblin King being immortalized.

Thanks, Dek, it seems a little weird to be immortalizing an already immortal being, but the dynasty world is a strange one.  ;)

Thank you, hazelnut!

LOL!  Wow, Gytha moves fast XD  Aw, poor Agnes.  I really love how you've played her in this.

Thanks, Shewolf.  I've always wanted to kind of branch out with Agnes.  There's a lot of stubborn and determined woman under that awful hair...

Chapter Twelve - A Goblin Babe!

"That man of yours gone to work already?" Agnes asked, coming in to check on Gytha.

"Crack o'dawn, as always.  Likes to be up and about, he does."  Gytha said, sitting up on the bed.  "I'll be glad when this is done," she grimaced, waving at her belly.  "I need to get back to work."

"You've been eating the right fruit?" Agnes asked with a wry smile.  "Jareth may not be able to take another shock like that!"  Gytha joined her in laughing.  As she hauled her swollen form from the bed, she stopped and made a face.

"Is it the baby?" Agnes asked, worriedly.

"That or Jareth needs to give up cooking!"  Gytha huffed.

"Do you want me to take you to the hospital?  Or Jareth could take you, he's puttering about with that chainsaw again.  I'll call..."

"Bother that!" Gytha snapped, as the contractions got stronger.  "I've got a soup on the stove and Dr Sim starts in ten minutes.  I'll be fine.  Don't need a lot of doctors pokin' at me."  She smiled then braced herself.  "I don't know if I told you or not, but I was reckoned the best midwife in my last world."

"Jareth!" Agnes hollered out the door.  "Erik's coming!"

"Tell him to boil water," Gytha panted.

"To sterilize things?" Agnes asked.  She was horrified at the idea of a home birth.

"Nah, I fancy a cuppa," Gytha moaned.  "Lots of sugar!"

A few moments and a lot of glitter later, the baby arrived safely.

"Well, hello there, Opera Ghost!"  Gytha cooed.  "This here is Agnes, she's by way of bein' your Granny.  Jareth is around here somewhere, and your Dad'll be along presently."

"He's beautiful, Gytha," Agnes purred, "I think he's going to have your hair."  She took the bundle from her daughter and snuggled the baby.  "Will he be...like you were?" she asked.

"He'll be himself," Gytha shrugged.  "Aw, bless him, he's tryin' to feel his face.  It's all there, love," she told him, smiling down.

"Gytha?  Are you alright?" Her man ran panting into the room.  "Is he here?"

"Right as rain, my dear, and here's our little man."  Agnes handed the baby to his father.

"He's perfect!"

"He is indeed," Jareth strutted happily into the room.  "He has a certain look to him, a family resemblance.  You'll be quite the looker when you grow up, Erik"

Jareth took to the care of Erik with a flair that surprised everyone.  With money low and properties to be bought, everyone who could was chipping in.  Gytha was eager to get back to her job in the coffeehouse and worked away on her alchemy skills in the meantime.

Jareth played variations of Erik's favorite operas, and the baby continuously ran chubby hands over his cheeks, smiling, as if he couldn't believe he was whole again.

His birthday came quickly and Jareth found the family sleeper.  Erik was popped into it as soon as the sparkles stopped and Jareth sat him down by the mirror.

"Oh yes," Jareth chortled.  "A proper Goblin babe!"
