Is it possible to sell rocks and gems at the consignment store?

OK, I have a question to ask here. Occasionally, I find that the consignment store sells some rocks and gems. My question is, is it possible to sell these items through your own controlled Sim?

The reason I am asking this question is because I have a palladium and a Lapis gem in my inventory but I can't consign these items! I can only consign fruits. Is this normal?

I can't consign gems either, so I guess that must be normal. But if you have WA, you can consign them when travelling.

Well, not actually consign them... but sell them right away. I'm not sure if that makes them more expensive though.

Thanks but is there any other way to sell them besides through the inventory? For example, you can sell insects through the Science lab for higher cash...........

I don't really think so.  I always sell mine through the personal inventory.

Uh... now I'm thrilled. Today I saw gems for sale at the consignment shop, even though I can't consign mine. Weird.

Too bad. I love the idea of the consignment shop, but I think it has a lot of potential that they didn't take advantage of. Before playing Ambitions I thought maybe it would be something between the Sims 1 stores (where you could buy clothes, souvenirs, magazines and other cool stuff) and the Sims 3 stores where you can sell your own stuff. But there are lots of stuff you can't consign. The idea of earning more money and experience through it is really cool though...

No.  You might as well sell them from your personal inventory unless you think it would take less time to sell it at the shop.

Would the Suave Seller work on that stuff too?  I guess I really never paid much attention, so I know I can't answer correctly, that is why I ask about that.

I think you can only sell raw gems, though once I was able to buy a heart shaped pink diamond. Now its a nifty centerpiece until it comes to use. You can buy very neat items at the consignment store, like raw rainbow gems.
