Game Crashes
« on: July 04, 2013, 07:56:39 AM »
Since installing PI, my game crashes if I attempt to "Edit town" and move a house from one lot to another.

OK, I don't have to do that.  So, I am not too worried.

My question is:  Does selecting "Check on line for a solution" when you close the program actually do anything?  Is there a point in doing this?  Not just with the sims, but, with any program?

A problem report is usually sent to Microsoft for more analysis. If a solution is available, or there are steps you can take to minimize the likelihood of the problem appearing again, they'll be available in the Action Center.  I used to use this often but never, ever have I received any type of response for any type of problem, not just the Sims, so I don't bother with that anymore.

Regarding the crashing:  Do you have Mods installed or CC .package files in the Mods folder?  .package files can also cause crashes if some of the code is not compatible.  If yes, have you tried removing the mods folder and trying your game.  This has been a problem mainly for those who have Seasons installed, reportedly if they try to save an edit while it is raining.   Also you could try playing another world and see if this happens.

Thank you Brappl,

I shan't bother again :)

I don't ever use mods or cc other than a few official store content downloads, so I don't think the crashes can be that.  It's just something which has happenned since PI.  I like a particular lot in France but it has an occupied home on it so I move the home to another lot.   After the game crashed 3 times, I just went in and evicted them and then placed them in another home.  Then I bulldozed the home.  Works just as well.

Glad you found a work-around... sounds like the Sims you moved might have needed a reset.  If the problem persists again and you feel like taking another step you can try using the reset Sim cheat.  Happy Simming!
