Can't sleep while house boat moving
« on: July 03, 2013, 03:22:45 PM »
I've just discovered that you can't have sleeping sims while the house boat is in motion.

I had 3 sleeping sims & 1 awake driving the boat & the 2 sleeping sims pinged back to their land house.

Just thought I'd share to save anyone making the same mistake, it's not a major error just annoying really. Especially when 2 of the sims are toddlers and an adult sim can only carry 1 at a time to meet back up with house boat.

I've had sims sleep on my houseboat while it's in motion. None of them own any residence on the land, just the houseboat, maybe that's it?

Yes maybe that's the difference.

Just found out I don't think you can go to work either.

Hmmm. I'm at work, so I can't check/test anything.

My houseboat residing Sims can also go to work as needed.

Which is set as the primary residence? I have absolutely no idea if that makes a difference or not, but it's all my brain can work with right now. If need be, I can purchase a private lot (or go find the hidden island) and do so testing there with my transferred Life States group.

I also have a family in a houseboat with no land home. They are able to sleep while the ship is moving with autopilot (I only move te boat with autopilot since I improved the rudder).

Indeed, the children of the family usually teleports to the school each morning; well, not exactly to the school, but close to it in the road and then the school bus get her. I believe she does it because I use to anchor offshore and she don't own a vehicle. Her mother goes to work each day by sailing.

The kids on my houseboat will teleport off to get to the bus even when I'm anchored at the dock.  I think it's just coded that way for houseboats.

My sims live in a small house on an island and the kids still teleport to school.  Although, they do have a houseboat and when it was time for school, the bus was up the hill on the road.  This is the bigger island and the school is on the big island.  The bus took her a short distance, she ran and caught a water taxi, then the water taxi went all the way around the island, dropped her off at the shore, she ran up the hill, took a taxi the rest of the way to school.  It was after 11am when she got there and after that, she teleported.  Strange little game, lol. :)

Edit:  What I originally started to post in relation to the thread, is that, I wanted my sim to travel around in the houseboat.  There was a sleeping infant, but when the houseboat started to move, the baby popped over to the primary residence where there is a roommate living there.  I had to have my sim dock the houseboat and go get his daughter.  I tried it again, but the baby was not sleeping, but in her crib and they could travel just fine.  Seems to be random, because I tried it again when the baby was sleeping and she didn't teleport to the main house this time.
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?
