Re-installed game onto my new PC computer... Game crashes
« on: July 02, 2013, 04:21:42 PM »
Hey guys, so I finally replaced my mac with a PC that can handle Sims 3 and any other game I've thrown at it so far. Now I know how much I've been missing out as far as graphics in this game! But unfortunately that's not what I'm here to talk about.

I started a game in Appaloosa Plains with one sim and a horse. On the second day it crashed with the message: "Sims 3 has stopped working." I reopened the game and moved in that household again, saved and quit before the first day was over, and when I came back to play more, it crashed again on the second day. I've done a little digging, but as I just switched from a mac to a PC, I am not familiar with all the terms that they are using and most of them are several years old so I don't know if the fixes will work.

I've installed all of my EP's (all of them until Seasons) and my one SP (Outdoor Life), downloaded all my store content, no CC. I've already deleted my cache files.

I hope you guys can help!

The replacement PC, is it brand new running with Windows 8 or does it have Windows 7?   Have you tried playing another world just to see if that one plays the way it should with no crashes?  I see you said no CC but do you have Mods installed?

It's a brand new Pavilion dv6 that is running Windows 7. I haven't tried any other world, and no, I don't have any mods either. I'll try playing a different world.

EDIT: My game version is 1.55.4.022001 if that helps also.  :-\

I highly recommend that you try another world. I've had crashing issues specifically in Appaloosa since Pets came out, I can't even play it. My game used to crash a lot before because of lack of RAM, but I'm pretty sure Appaloosa has a different problem, because it started way before my RAM issues. I haven't tried it since my RAM upgrade though so I can't be sure.

Anyway, try running a different world and see what happens. Last time I checked people were saying that the excess parking lots in Appaloosa caused the stability issues but I tried deleting them and it didn't work. I haven't checked in a while since I gave up on that world a long time ago so maybe it got fixed, but a lot of people were complaining of crashings in Appaloosa back then.

Oh, wow. Now I'm in Moonlight Falls and I'm on the third day so I guess that's what it was. That's too bad, Appaloosa Plains was one of my favorite worlds! :'( Moonlight Falls is pretty too, though, so I suppose it's a compromise. Thanks brappl and Frey!

That is good to hear.  Make sure to save your game every so often...just in case!

Glad it's working! I really like Appaloosa though, it's a shame that it doesn't work properly (at least for some people)  ::)
